Late reply: Because of his formal and polite personality along with not being used to anyone especially a girl asking him to call them by a nickname due to the heavy lack of friends in his childhood besides the then former Bakugo. Midoriya always messes up but corrects himself immediately. Iida also does this, but Midoriya is often the most frequent to forget it.
