They are still obtainable atleast. The 8580's more so. I'd like to test all of the replacements. The Armsid is pretty nice in a synth because you can turn off the adsr bug but it doesn't sound authentic as a 6581 replacement. I will keep using real sids for as long as I can.
There's not a lot of videos or content on the mk1 (or any of them really). To my understanding it had an ios app. Had some sort of sequencer instead of an arp..was single sid and had plastic knobs? This one feels well built. Metal chassis and metal knobs on chassis mounted pots. Worth the upgrade. Depends if you would use it I suppose. This thing has permanent residency on my desk. I just love sid chips.
@@avrilcadabra Yeah, I was an early buyer. The iOS app never worked for me. It was a single SID, though came with the SID included which was nice. It was all plastic, and over-heated a bunch/had some weird glitches. You know I'm a sucker for the SIDs as well, though I don't know them with any kind of depth like yourself! I am tempted to upgrade to the Mark 2 at some point for the build quality etc, though I'd need to figure out some additional SIDs. I've mostly been using my C64 with Cynthcart which has the dual SID situation. I have another SID in my modular, but I don't love the module. I could switch that out for an ARMSID I suppose. Gah now you've got me thinking.
@@avrilcadabra I really didn't know this - but since my interest in making music was revived roughly seven years ago, I didn't look out for that, propably.
usually early development builds, which often means half the features are not working, the official firmware is far ahead of the one used in this video though.
Shades of The Last Ninja for me on this, I love it!
I do love that game!
Cool jam, more please!
Sounds awesome.
😲 sounds incredible
Nice sounds
Fatnastic! Oh man its so hard to get decent SID Chips nowadays...

This sounds excellent. I have one of the originals, but the second one seems way better put together. Maybe one day I'll upgrade...

Yeah is it the sidgutz module? Probably a waste to have a real sid in there
@@avrilcadabra Yeah. It's never quite behaved how I wanted or expected. I couldn't get it to track properly or stay in tune.
Love this! I feel like somebody could do some really great covers of some Arpanet songs with that.
Excuse me? Why didn't I know of this! It _sounds_ awesome and the pun is excellent as well!
Its been out for 9 years. This is the mk3 final version!

The megaFM gets all the love on youtube. I just love the Sid (I also have a midi megadrive so that sways my appetite for a megaFM a teeny bit)
:o
which firmware do you use?
