I'm a guitarist/drummer and I specifically remember watching this show and noticing how accurately the musicians were animated to look like they were actually playing what I was hearing.
Greetings, fellow percussionist! I noticed that, too; I also noticed the clear passion everyone put in the songs - even the ones they didn't end up using in the anime. The passion is obvious, and the products are exquisite. The percussion is just perfect: not too much, not too little; it frames the beat perfectly and provides a solid backbone for the other instruments and vocalist(s). They're all true masterpieces.
I have a guitar similar to Iwasawa's(sunburst fender strat) and play the same role as her in a band(vocals and rhythm guitar) so yeah her story was my favorite.
There I was browsing Netflix the spring of 2012. It was then I noticed something called angel Beats on the suggestion panel. Unfamiliar with anime in general, I was curious oh, so I decided to watch it. Still in the top five of the 180+ anime I have watched in the almost-decade since. I can't give you one reason why but I just really love this anime. The music, like the song above, just grabbed me. So much so that I actually imported both of the soundtracks( OST and keep the beats) on actual CD from Japan for just under $30 a piece with shipping.
Honestly, I’ve watched the most anime out of my friends a hefty roster of 500+ and my top five are all sad ones, this one and bunny girl senpai in particular.
I remember seeing a random gif of anime characters jumping out of a window. Watched Angel Beats that night into the early morning, will never watch it again because I know I can never recapture that moment and those feelings again
you should watch the original ghost of the shell. its over 40 years old. the original. compare the visuals, the sounds, the implied philosophy...its a masterpiece
No songs in any language ever resonated with me like Angel Beats. They remind me why I exist and encourage me when I start to fade; they pull you up by the heartstrings, remind you you're alive and that there's infinite beauty in the ugliest places. We don't have to accept everything as being static, we are like quantum magicians and can transform the world by "seeing" it in a different light. An inner transformation is all it takes to begin.
I wish that the people who made Angel beats would make a remaster of the anime. Like do the original thing they were going to do and make all 26 episodes I think that would be great. Also Still listening to these songs in 2020.
Lovely as Sawashiro's voice is, that's not her. Although Miyuki Sawashiro did provide Iwasawa's speaking voice, her songs were performed by one Marina Nakamura; apparently this was her debut.
because the recent bands make a lot of garbage nowadays instead of the anime bands since they want to keep their fanbase entertained which is what they have done here with the anime bands
RemmmK What I mean is that some bands out there are putting out music that just make no sense or something like that or just music on girls and booze and I feel like that is what is making this generation bad compared to the other generations.
First time cried to any movie/show, this anime is definetly one of my favorites and I probably won't watch it again because it made me too emotional but I'll never forget this anime. The story, music, and characters, were all great. The ending was sad but it was also good to see Izuru meet angel in their other life. I'll miss the others though.
the musical accuracy of this show was pretty good. it looked like they were playing what you are hearing. heck, it also had some of the best gun play with how accurate the munitions and guns were, even the ammunition and casings were on point. and to top it all off, this wasnt a anime that held your hand either. truly one of the best put together shows out there. Id just like to remind you that this show was so good that we are all here watching a video of a one off song made by a completely fictional band!

What can I say, Angelbeats! was the 3rd anime I watched and really got me into anime even though I wasn’t fond of anime. Started watching it last year and is still better than ever. Love Angelbeats! and it was well made. Congrats on the producers for making this beautiful piece of anime and it was a shame a second season wasn’t created but good ending!

She rests in peace now, she achieved her dream in front of a huge audiance. And her legacy of songs, music, her voice and guitar will live in our hearts forever
This song has some really kick ass harmonies on the backing vocals and the lead is very addicting. The end though, it just sent chills down my spine when Iwasawa went up on the high notes and sang with like a crying passion. That just really got me that part, I was like "holy shit..that's a legendary voice O.O"

No idea why, but this anime was the first to get a true emotional response from me. Something about the songs and characters that brings a huge sense of nostalgia and sorrow.

Headed this way because I was randomly going through bands I remembered the name of. Felt a flicker something I haven't felt in years, since I watched this anime shortly after its release. Damn. Over a decade later and it still hits like a sack of bricks.
A tear dropped This has to be my favorite anime. The story was unlike any other and it seriously is a deep and touching story and omfg they made comedy and tragedy mix well!

Her story was so relatable to some people like me. Life is already hard by its meaning, but having toxic parents it can be times more bad! Her life story prooved that sometimes for some people, it does not matter how hard they work, one minor occurence can end all your dreams in one moment. And it is even harsher when you realize that her parents(actually her dad) made that ”unfair mistake”. In Yuri”s case, her familly was always happy and the bad guys where some stereotypical thugs while in Iwasawa”s Case, the bad guys where from inside the familly. I love all those refrences in anime about parent abuse or mistreatment.
this was honestly one of the most emotional/sad animes ive seen, the ending to the series was just heartwrenching, and i dont usually feel bad while watching anything sad.

They missed their chance sadly. I'm not saying its totally over, but the 10 year anniversary passed. This show will go down as a all time great.
there are two mangas that cover what happened before otonashi got there that help extend it if ya want

This song has some really kick ass harmonies on the backing vocals and the lead is very addicting. The end though, it just sent chills down my spine when Iwasawa went up on the high notes and sang with like a crying passion. That just really got me that part, I was like "holy shit..that's a legendary voice O.O"

Her story was so relatable to some people like me. Life is already hard by its meaning, but having toxic parents it can be times more bad! Her life story prooved that sometimes for some people, it does not matter how hard they work, one minor occurence can end all your dreams in one moment. And it is even harsher when you realize that her parents(actually her dad) made that ”unfair mistake”. In Yuri”s case, her familly was always happy and the bad guys where some stereotypical thugs while in Iwasawa”s Case, the bad guys where from inside the familly. I love all those refrences in anime about parent abuse or mistreatment.

this was honestly one of the most emotional/sad animes ive seen, the ending to the series was just heartwrenching, and i dont usually feel bad while watching anything sad.
