Unfortunately, the answer is "it depends". We had a pretty calm crossing on the way down but on the return crossing it was much rougher. The Viking expedition ships have modern fin stabilizers which reduce "rolling" with waves at sea but you could definately feel it walking the halls and lying in bed. We got a prescription from our doctor prior to the cruise for an anti-nausea med called Zofran. Supposedly more powerful than the OTC stuff (dramamine, bonine). I still had a little bit of "green" feeling during the day on the return crossing but not too bad. Hopefully you don't let this stop you, the trip was amazing overall and totally worth a slight bit of discomfort on the crossing in my opinion. Good luck!
So enjoying this series. Questions about activities. How far in advance do you have to sign up for the various activities? We’re there activities, other than the sub, that you were unable to do? Was your ship full? Thank you.
Hi Jane, glad you kept watching! Unlike the Viking river and ocean trips you don't actually sign up for the activities in advance. You do fill out a pre-trip survey asking what kind of activities you are interested in. On board, you will be assigned to a group (we were Snow Petrels) and you get a time slot each day for the "standard" activity based on group (shows in the Viking Daily newsletter you get each night). Then, in addition, if you expressed interest in other things (Kayak, Submarine, Photography, Special Ops boats, etc.) you will get notified when you are selected to do those things via the App each day (and the TV as well, if I recall). On top of all this, they occasionally don't have a full group for some of the extra activities so they will announce that and you can grab an extra slot if you want it. This seemed to happen a good bit for kayak trips. Beyond the submarine the only other thing I recall not being available was the "camp on shore overnight" which they had mentioned in the pre survey. They never really brought it up on board so maybe they decided not to offer it at all, or perhaps because we were the first run of the trip...or maybe COVID? 🤷♂️
Thanks for watching Joanna! You are gonna love the trip!! I'm still in the process of creating and releasing videos for the rest of the trip. Should have Day 7 done in the next 24 hours. Make sure you Subscribe so you get notified as soon as I release them. 👍
Thx

Amazing stuff 👏 👌
Another great video, Jeff! One we will watch many times over the next 150 days until our Antarctic cruise 🙂
I'm a geek, too. Did look like Enterprise!🖖 Thanks for all the videos!
Haha, live long and prosper my friend.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks Jeff! Looking forward to our turn in February!
Booked for Jan 23, but am terrified of sea sickness on the Drake passage. How bad was it?!
