- An introductory video to Historic Batsto Village, located within Wharton State Forest. Batsto Village is the site of a former bog iron and glass making industrial center (1766 - 1867) that currently reflects the agricultural and commercial enterprises that existed here during the late 19th century. This Pine Barrens village consists of thirty-three historic buildings and structures including the Batsto Mansion, gristmill, sawmill, general store, workers' homes and post office. My favorite place to talk a walk. I love the history💜
I love walking around batsto...cool video.
Just found out that William Richards is my fifth great grandfather. I also found out that he made four firebacks for George Washington's home in Mount Vernon. Two of the firebacks are still on display at Mount Vernon.
Oh wow nice
Cool place
No mention of the fact that the Lenape were forced to work here
They actually were not. The Batsto Furnace employed indentured servants in its operation. Most of these servants were from overseas from Britain and Europe.
@@decifixthealmighty1762 most? And the rest were? Ding ding
@@ReturntoNatureSkillsThe rest were slaves, not Native Americans forced to work at the Iron Furnace. There is no evidence to support it.
