This E36 build series has been class, after every episode I’m patiently waiting for the next upload😬🤣 I’m sure I speak on behalf of most, we don’t want it to end! I’m sure your bank balance and eagerness to drive it will though haha. Would love to see something similar afterwards on the cupra, been a while since there was a video on that!
A couple of tips: Assembly lube is your friend. Put it in each cam cap/journal as you install. Keeps everything lubed up as you set timing, and your first start won’t be dry. When you go to install the cams, first set the crank at TDC, and then roll it back about 30 degrees. This ensures you won’t have any interference between the valves and the pistons as you wrangle the cams in. Also sets you up well for timing the engine, as you only have to roll the crank forward about 30deg.
@andyjones1408 that alright but I'm not talking about that, I was talking about oiling the Head bolts (the bolts used to hold the cylinder heads to the block) you'll get an inaccurate torque as the threads are dry and will have extra friction as you go through a torque and the stretch phase. No worries it's all a learning curve. I only made that mistake once then u learn. 😂
Yes do a series on the Defender! Love anything Land Rover! Got a Discovery 2 myself! Best engine ever made has to be the Defender/Discovery TD5 engine 2.5 5pot diesel with a straight pipe is just orgasmic
25:25 - when hes moving the sealant like that it's bad - you're meant to press it onto the "bead" of sealent, then is "squidges" itself out, creating the seal
Gonna throw this out there aside from obvious b58 or 2JZ The VW 1.9 PD and Gen 3 EA888 engines are underrated and I’d argue great engines. EA888 will tune 500hp with bolt on mods and a tune, the plastic bits will fail before the engine does.
The gen 3 EA888 won’t reach 500 with bolt ons. You need a hybrid/big turbo and both hp and lp fuel pumps, as well as all of the other supporting mods like downpipe, intake and intercooler
@@jakebenstead1273 mate you literally proved my point. They're all bolt ons. if you actually read my statement, this is all before you consider opening the engine up at all.
New defender content would be quality, but tbh I'm more concerned about how nobody in the comments seems to be talking about that absolutely phat rip at 9:04. Wicked stuff that
1.9tdi best engine, no smoke no poke!!!! defender series needs to happen. great to see you guys getting shit done, didnt feel right with no cooking though lads.
My all-time fave engine is the V4 out of an Aprilia RSV4 RF 2017. Also the best sounding engine. Mad on the road, loads of torque with crazy top end but also pretty compliant at low speeds.
Should do some more on the Compact! Also.. best engines are: Road: BMW S54 (with carbon airbox for all the induction noise) Race: Mazda R26B Bike: Honda 750cc V4 In my opinion!
Ever made a copper brake pipe and not put the fitting on? Or ever put a sump on with out the timing cover 😅 100 percent get the defender series going 💪
Probably wrong, but it looked like a old chain tensioner that you guys put in? - 100% get a new one! Defender content is always welcome, have you considered a M57 + 8speed auto swap? - Makes it an absolute puppy to drive!
Best engine imo is the Mazda BP (MX5 engine), perfect swap for anything older with boost, it’s basically an old Ford engine so goes a beaut in old escorts for some sideways fun. Gotta do another defender series, I’d love to see some more power from it just for a laugh
Next big series HAS GOT to be the e36 short ass made into a proper slide machine, a livery would look bangin on it! The best engine ever is certainly a tough one but I think I'd have to go with either the S70/2 from the infamous McLaren F1 or the S20B20, that from the BMW E30 M3
Flush broken bolt tip! Weld a washer to it, then weld a nut to the washer/bolt, then take it out. You're Welcome! Disclaimer: Sometimes it takes multiple nuts/washers.
What a great mate Andy is! Shout out to you fella, every man needs a mate like Andy

DRUNK COOKING NEEDED ASAP

What he said plus oil the head bolts a little before installing them to get inaccurate torque!!
We added oil to all the cams etc , just off cam , cheers though bud !

@@jolobob we oiled all the head bolts after we decided to read the instructions hahah
everyone needs a man like Andy to hold the torque sequence sheet infront of you, god bless Andy
10:59 looks like a Airbus A400M Atlas

Yes do a series on the Defender! Love anything Land Rover! Got a Discovery 2 myself! Best engine ever made has to be the Defender/Discovery TD5 engine 2.5 5pot diesel with a straight pipe is just orgasmic

Next big series should be get the Leon back out and hit a track day and get the prep done
Would love to see a defender series and the N57 engine bloody lovely so strong and reliable and you can do what you like with them
25:25 - when hes moving the sealant like that it's bad - you're meant to press it onto the "bead" of sealent, then is "squidges" itself out, creating the seal
Best engine ever: Ducati Desmoquattro.
Tough luck on the front cover 😬😬😬 this series is mint though lads. Great content 🎉
Defender series would be a great choice from my perspective 👍🏽
Best engine ever for me is the OM606, absolute torque monster
Gonna throw this out there aside from obvious b58 or 2JZ

Definitely yes to the defender video and either the Yamaha 5VY or Honda K20
Best engine has to be vw 1.6tdi absolute frugal little bastard! Cant wait to see the e36 on the road!! Great work, loving the build series!
you need to check valve clearance and put them buckets to right place !
Id love to see a series on the landrover 💪 also the best engine ever made in my opinion is the BMW M47/M57 diesel engine 👌
Missed the cooking part this week.. looking forward to the first start video 👌🏻
Best engine surely is the Honda K20 🤙🏻
New defender content would be quality, but tbh I'm more concerned about how nobody in the comments seems to be talking about that absolutely phat rip at 9:04. Wicked stuff that

Yes to the defender! Best engine made m57 👍
Can't wait for it to start ripping. With or without the outgrown nail.
I definitely want to see a series on the landy, and the best engine ever made has to be the Vw diesel pd130 or the bmw e60 m5 v10🙌
It’s summer, let’s get that bloody Cupra track day ready boss. And I guess an s65 at full noise…
Key to removing any snapped bolt is good drill bits, extractors and tapping paste of course, usually presto or dormer will do you right. Good luck ✌
Defender build is a must
I saw two road bikes in this video …. I need a Boq and Andy adventure on the roadies 😂 keep up the content lads you’re killing it 🤙🏼
I have the same engine unfortunately with the vanos head on my 01 e39 540i/6. I am thoroughly amazed on how well free flowing this head design is!
Keep it up lads can’t wait to see it run
Any kind of L-Twin in a bike is IMO the best sounding engine😍

Also K24 ftw
How about a defender and cupra prep series? Go on your trip with the defender but take the cupra on a trailer and coincide your trip with a track day?
Best engine for a daily runner for me has to be the VW PD, just bulletproof!!
Fr mine had 252k and was still going strong before I sold it
@@willnewton679 the last one I had was 15 years ago and that was on 200k, still see it around now, ace daily hack

Defender series and big trip video to follow 👊🏻
Best engine - Honda k20 👌🏻
Love defender content. Best engine ever made is m57 3.0 engine
Defender content lets gooooooooo
Andy doing pull ups on the ramp
Best engine alpha v6 / Lexus LFA V10
I’d definitely spin it over a few times on the started motor with the plugs out of it to get the oil round the engine before you send the big start up
Good shout
NC500 in the defender, with prep videos (getting the defender ready etc) and the finale being the road trip
⛰
tent box maybe
Saw the thumbnail before realising the channel and thought UA-cam had recommended a Australian outback bush mechanic engine build 😂
Airbus A400M Atlas
PD130!
Reliable
Efficient

Ever made a copper brake pipe and not put the fitting on? Or ever put a sump on with out the timing cover 😅 100 percent get the defender series going 💪
Bring on the Defender videos. Fav enging is the 1.2 petrol that was in my Corsa when I was 17.
Probably wrong, but it looked like a old chain tensioner that you guys put in? - 100% get a new one!
Defender content is always welcome, have you considered a M57 + 8speed auto swap? - Makes it an absolute puppy to drive!
Best engine Ferrari 3.9 twin turbo v8 babay 🙌🏻
Build series on Andys Volvo next, for being a great friend.
Best engine imo is the Mazda BP (MX5 engine), perfect swap for anything older with boost, it’s basically an old Ford engine so goes a beaut in old escorts for some sideways fun.
