I just signed up for the free online rifle safety course - IT IS GREAT. It served as a great reminder to me and also helped me learn some ways to teach that information to my children and peers. You and Phil are overachievers so I do not need to ask for you to keep up the good work, I know that you will. Thanks
Thanks for the review - appreciate it. As noted in one of the earlier comments, you make it look easy. Question, the bino setup, who makes that? Looks like there is a handgun mount as well as a bear spray mount that attaches to it. Never seen that before. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
Where did you find this “Ascend” Tripod? I don’t see it on RRS SOAR website. It looks like the little ball/pan head is integrated in the apex similar to the Anvil 30 apex system. Is this a Series 1 set of tripod legs? The fact you were able to shoot from the standing position is quite nice for such a small tripod.
It was great to see this product demoed live in some real world applications. I'm trying to decide which RRS tripod to go with for hunting and precision rifle applications. If you could only choose one, would you go with the Ascend-14, TFCT-24L w/ Anvil 30 head, or a different one? Any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated as I am likely to make the decision without an opportunity to experience an RRS tripod first hand. Just started listening to your podcast series and love it!
With those stipulations, I'd go with the 24L and the Anvil 30. It's gonna be a bit heavy for a hunting tripod, but if you're after a do-all then the 24L is your best bet.
I see that you’re leaning into the rifle when standing, but how much is too much? I just listened to the podcast and I’m trying to visualize what you’re talking about.
Why mount the rail so far back? Just like your bipod mount, you’d have better stability and greater accuracy with your pivot point as far forward as possible. Does balancing the rifle on the tripod outweigh this benefit for you?
Actually, you have less stability with the connection point being forward of the center of gravity when shooting from a tripod. We strive to find the rifles balance point and make the connection there.
@@MODERNDAYSNIPER I could see having less body stability if you are far enough away from the tripod that you can’t anchor some part of you body to it but when mounted at the balance point, all input motions equal much greater muzzle movements. This translates to bigger error down range for small movements behind the stock. It’s simple geometry.
@@andrewmayo4069 correct, however attaching the rifle that far out means the rifle is a lever, and your body then needs to support the rifle. Even a hand attached to the tripod isn't enough stability to counter the tiny movements which translate into larger movements in the sight picture. I get where you're at man, but I've been shooting from tripods since I've been a padewan and I've used every conceivable method to obtain stability and attaching the rifle that far forward is the least desirable.
Hey I’m just getting into tripod shooting and watched the video you guys very recently put out and your technique seems to contradict. I heard you mention the center column being different in the other video, would you still recommend this bracing type of technique for center column tripods?
Everyone learns as we grow, technologies and techniques advance as well. I would recommend always going with the most recent information they give since they gain that experience with what works best.

Thanks for the vid. What's the best tripod you've come across?
Awesome review thank you I will now own one!!

Very good review and demo! What make/model of arca rail do you have attached to your weapon forward of the mag well? I have a T5-A that needs one!
That rifle has an Area 419 short arca rail section. I've also got one mounted to a T5-A that works perfect.
Hey man, what bino chest rig is that? I like how it can mount a pistol there
I can’t figure out those binos. It’s going to drive me insane.
I see that you’re leaning into the rifle when standing, but how much is too much? I just listened to the podcast and I’m trying to visualize what you’re talking about.
Totally dependent on the scenario and the conditions. Expect to see a tripod shooting online course coming soon! -Caylen W

Crazy how that's changed. The newer tripod video he recommends to push it as far forward as possible... 😂

What binoculars are those?
Hey guys just trying to get ahold of you somehow. I’m having issues with my purchase and sign in through Modern Day Rifleman. How can I get help?
