Demo of the Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-8L. A vintage rhythmbox made by a company (Ace Tone) that later became Roland. Roland improved and reproduced the FR-8L as their first product, the Roland TR-77
SO much more character than 99 pst of what came after. Its ridiculous. Something completely different than anything produced today. Its like a lost art or something. Combining the different preset rhythms and turning tempo down, for instance, makes a whole new palette of rhythms and sound that are almost never used in modern music, but should be used for sure! Its something about those non realistic sounds that sugests more freedom to break free from standard kick, snare, hi hat patterns. And the presets themselves are showing/sugesting us the way to the kingdom! Glad that Behringer seem to be making a CR78 replika in near future.
I feel the same way. Back home I LOVE jamming with my ARP Odyssey and a simple Kimball Swinger organ that has a drum machine on it. It's such a warmly nostalgic sound and I feel so much creative freedom with such barebone controls.
Insane drum machine, I love it :D
This machine is pretty cool sounding. Just picked one up for 20$
