Pernilla’s parents are both famous actors as well, Hans Wahlgren and Christina Schollin. Two out of three brothers of Pernilla is also famous actors, Nicklas and Linus Wahlgren.
Interestingly, by not winning the Swedish Melodifestivalen you have a big advantage over the winner, in the sense that your song can be played freely on the radio and be featured on television. So a fourth place song like this can become a big hit on the swedish charts while the winning song is not supposed to be played on the radio until the big Eurovision contest. The same thing happened in 1986 I think, with the song "Dover Calais" ending up in second place but becoming a huge hit, a "landsplåga" even on the Svensktoppen etc charts.

Kanske till och med när hon var 16. Bidragen skickas in året innan och väljs på hösten, i detta fallet 1984 - då hon inte ens fyllt 17 år.
Perhaps you could check out the english version as well (you don´t have to react to it, you could just watch it): "Pernilla Wahlgren Piccadilly Circus english version". It´s not as good as the original though. And definitely not a classic, I think a lot of people don´t even know there was an English version.
Fun fact. The Italian brothers behind her are Emilio and Vito Ingrosso. Emilio was her boyfriend, later husband, and they became the parents of artist Benjamin Ingrosso and influenser Bianca Ingrosso. The other brother, Vito, became the father of Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish house Mafia. There was a third brother, Nicola Ingrosso (who changed his name to their mothers name, Perelli) and married the singer Charlotte Nilsson (who won Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 with "Take Me To Your Heaven". They´re divorced now, but her name is still Charlotte Perelli.

this! is why I looked up and sent you links with good audio for songs to react to. like in the beginning here it makes all the difference if you have a good version or not. yes live may be fun and also some videos might have more views but that does not mean good audio, it just means many have watched the uploaded video and so many swedish songs are uploaded with terrible audio and shitty home made videos with corny weird clips and pictures edited which can ruin the impression of the song. I'm so happy to see you looked for a better version!

You did miss how both her parents are famous, her paternal grandparents were also actors. Her fathers maternal grandfather was a singer from Italy. And 2 of her 3 brothers are also famous. Her 3 oldest children's father are one of the dancers to this performance (both dancers are brothers), and was for a few years, on her tours. Laila Bagge was once married to her brother Niclas with whom she has a son.
And as you said, 2 of her 4 children are also famous.
The Wahlgren family is almost like an institution in Sweden, with so many different celebrities, and are connected with a lot of other celebrities through out our history, as distant relatives.
And as someone else said, the Ingrosso Brothers are also connected to different celebrities either by marriage or blood. 😊

There were only jury votes at the 80's. That jury was in to dansband. She was ahead of her time.
The next song "Var ska vi sova inatt" is not a genuine Swedish song, though. It's a translation from the Italian original - "Sarà perché ti amo".
På den tiden fick inte svenska folket rösta. Då var det en jury som bestämde vem som vann. Därför en del riktigt bra låtar förlorade tyvärr.

Å andra sidan så vann konstiga låtar när bara svenska folket röstade. Därför vi numera kör 50-50(?) svenska folket och jury-röster.
Juryerna hade ju ganska konservativ och svennig smak, och därför hade mer samtida pop med discoinfluenser i allmänhet inte lika stor chans som typiska schlagers och känslosamma ballader.
Fast "Bra vibrationer" var ju också en riktigt bra låt!

Var ska vi sova inatt is not a Swedish original. The italian band Ricchi e poveri recorded it as Sara perche ti amo (Because I love you) in 1981. Still a classic.

@Jonathan Rollins Now you know why Sweden is such a huge music exporter. It's not because of PR and the shit music we actually sell to compete with US hit charts vomit, but the sheer raw talent and power, the combination with a very musical language... Sweden is just made for music, period. And the government promotes growing your musical talent from school.

How did she loose? Well, maybe because a lot of old people didn´t like her voice. I remember my father talking about how odd it was that she was screaming. Our neighbour talked about "young people of today" and their bad taste of music and artists. They called Pernilla a child. Too young to represent Sweden in ESC. So younger people voted for Pernilla and older people voted for Bra Vibrationer.
Back then people couldn´t vote, it was just juries. But they were in different age groups and you´re correct, the older people, especially those in the age groups 35-40, 40-45, 45-50 ranked her lowest among the 5 who made it to the final. But the age groups 50-55 and 55-60 had her as their second favorite. (The 50-55 had Tillbergs "Ta min hand" as their favorite" and the 55-60 had Danielssons "Bra vibrationer" as their favorite). In the age group 15-20 Wahlgren was the favorite. In the age group 20-25, 25-30, 30-35 she was 4th out of 5.
Vadå ”yngre röstade på Pernilla”? Vad menar du? Det var ju enbart jurygrupper på den tiden, finns det verkligen fog för påståendet att de yngre i jurygrupperna röstade på Pernilla? Redovisa dina källor tack!
@@herrgoteborgare Källa: Poängsiffrorna från de olika jurygrupperna finns i en tabell i artikeln "Melodifestivalen 1985" på Wikipedia. Sändningen från "Melodifestivalen 1985" finns dessutom på Öppet Arkiv på SVT play, så där kan du se hur många poäng de olika jurygrupperna gav varje låt. Den yngsta jurygruppen (15-20) gav Pernilla Wahlgren 8 p vilket var den högsta poängen.
Tycker den sista tonen i sticket är mer av ett gällt skrik än sång. De kanske borde kört låten någon tonart lägre. Bortsett från det är det ju en klassiker.
De kunde ha stannat på tonen före, den var vacker!
De var ju ute efter en spektakulär effekt - och lyckades. Det är inte SM i välljudande sång.

Fan, man mins när hon utvaldes till sveriges sexigaste för typ 20 år sen av Café eller Slitz och Aftonbadet visade bilden hon gjorde för den utmärkelsen (top 100 lista om man inte mins fel)
Hon tar höga C i sången inte många som kan ta den höga tonen😮
