I had so many cinematic moments in random BF1 rounds, BF2042 looks and feels like a 10 year old free to play compared.

bf1 will forever be my favorite fps. came out in such a nostalgic happy and cozy time in my life memories i’ll cherish forever.

One design aspect I always loved about BF1 that I think was erroneously lost in later BF games was that you could tell what class an enemy plays was from just a quick glance: Assault was barebones, Medics had crutches, Supports had big backpacks and Recons had either long coats or ponchos.
Along with restricting specific weapon types to specific classes you allowed the player to quickly gauge how much of threat an incoming player was very quickly and concisely.
With 2042 that seems to have been completely lost.
2042 tried to mix warzone and fortnite with battlefield. no wonder it was a shitshow.

Every now and then I revisit. Can’t ever completely leave this game alone. Besides random bullet deviation (dumbest shit for a shooting game ever) this game will go down in history. Most atmospheric multiplayer game I’ve ever played.
Honestly the best battlefield game, the atmosphere, the graphic’s ,everything. I pray they return to ww1 or ww2 with the same atmosphere again one day

A war game where you feel like you're at war, but can also make great video game plays. It struck the balance just perfect. Classes has great identity and playstyles. I love it and still play regularly. Never did go for the peacekeeper tho....

The timeline of BF3/4, the aesthetics and weapon design along with heavy kits of BF1, the V1 rocket of BF5 and the memory of never repeating BF2042 ever again. Combine all that and that would be a good BF game imo.
A 1000 hours into it and I'm eager for another 1000.

I love battlefield 1,it's one of my all time favs. I'm playing on the ps4 but it's very hard to find any servers (for days) sometimes. I have to wait till the weekend comes, but also than i can't find servers everytime sadly.
Man this game is just built different
The one thing I loved most of this game is artillary. I LOVED everytime I was able to get to a cannon and spam against the frontline. Maybe isn't fair, but this is war after all.
I played battlefield 4 after cod mw2 today and... Homestly
The graphics were so good i was shocked how a game from long ago looked better than a new one with "modern technologies", and i loved how it played, everything felt balanced everything was great and there was destructability, i also loved the time to kill, it was a few shots, and it was better than mw2 cuz both newbies and prod could kill, as it only took a few hits, and takedowns that simply happened whenever u hit a enemy up close, unlike in mw2 where you have to get behind a enemy and probably die by some other dude who came by
And then i also played 2042, "thats just cod but slower, and bigger (and bigger in not good way)
The game mostly became cod but, you had enormous maps, which were a bad decision in my opinion cuz u were still slow as hell tho the game seemingly tried to make faster pace, time to kill was kinda the same but everyone got kinda spongier, as i explained it "the time to kill is kinda the same, but its not as fun now" (plus you need to get behind someone to takedown like cod)
So i deleted the game rather quick
Tomorow ill download battlefield 1 cuz... Bf4 is just too dead online wise

Battlefield 4's gameplay + Battlefield 1's atmosphere, graphics and sound design (and a bit of MW's gunplay) = The perfect Battlefield experience imo

I could never have imagined that newer games would be worse. Born in the early '90s, we experienced the golden age of gaming, which peaked somewhere between 2012 and 2018.
I was a call of duty kid in 2016-17. My best friend bought the game and wanted me to try it. I refused. It wasn't call of duty, so I wouldn't. He convinced me to at least watch the opening campaign mission (Harlem hell fighters) and I immediately fell in love. No call of duty could be that immersive and still play so well. Long live battlefield 1!
I wish it wasn't so frickin hard to unlock guns bc only good players still play so it's hard to unlock them because they usually require you to use certain guns or do certain things to unlock them
The M1917 Trench Carbine is very underrated. Such a great gun with a big magazine.
I go on a splurge playing this game for days on end and then i take like a month off multiple times. When I comeback its still a live game which says a-lot about the community. I absolutely love this game

The Martini-Henri is the most satisfying gun I ever used in a FPS game. I loved it alongside with the revolver or the big a*s pistol, Mars automatic
Unfortunately, less and less server in battlefield 1 is disappearing, but for those people like me, believe that battlefield 1 is one of the greatest shooting game in the world still playing it, I believe that battlefield 1 will never die

The one critique I still give BF1 is the weapon variant system. Dice could have added quite few more weapons instead of coming up with 2 or 3 variants for the same weapon along with an attachment system. I know some people will say "but its WWI". There was actually quite a few attachments in the game locked on certain variants, Bipods, monopods, 3x and 6x scopes, glass optics, 1x sights, barrels, magazines, brakes, suppressors along with unique attachments for certain weapons. You didn't 3 different variants of the M1903 Springfield to have a Pederson Device or 3 different variants of the MP-18 or M1907 SL for selective fire. K Bullets could have been an attachment for snipers instead of a gadget and put in an auxiliary attachment spot along with the bipod, monopod, Pederson Device (Springfield only) and different bolts.

Some sad news. Battlefield BC1, BC2, and bf1943 are all being shutdown this December. Not just consoles. BC2 on PC as well.
Battlefield 1 was the first battlefield game to take place in the 1st World War, and was the first game I played in this series.
This game is classic. It's absolute masterpiece best bf ever. Especially when Dolby Atmos on sounds are really punching
Every time I say something about random bullet deviation in battlefield 1, my other German friend ( if we in discord voice chat) just start raging and saying that it's called spread.
BF1 is still a really good game even after 7 years like I can still remember playing the open beta of the game

I remember people hating this game when it came out but I loved it. It's honestly my second favorite BF game only just behind BC2. Easily the two most fun multi player experiences in BF franchise. Still play to this day.

Too bad EA/DICE partially abandoned the game. Not to mention the problem of hacks, the First World War has immense potential, due to being such a remote time, period games like that manage to give a very specific feeling with a high immersion, which is what happens with BF1.
Too bad they didn't take more advantage of that time in history in the game, for those who don't know there were also conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa, such as between the Portuguese and German colonies, a tropical environment but with an ancient war system, it would go well with the game.
They could also add the Tsar Tank Netopyr as one more Behemoth, on a new map, with a new geography (like where this tank is supposed to be used).

Yeh it's still good. It's from 2016 and still looks good. 2015-2016 started stretching games graphically and many games from those years still stand up today. But it's also the atmosphere and game loop. It still feels like a BF game.

You're not wrong TBAG - Battlefield 1 is just the peak of this series in most aspects. People are still playing it (I still jump back, BF:V just don't work for me as good, about BF2042 let's not even talk). This game is just build different and you can feel the time and effort put into the work really. But it is not just BF1 thing - many older games were much better designed and made. My explain (by the look what's going on in this industry) is really simple (and I'm a gamer for good 20+ years) - gaming industry became too much of a business.
Back days people who made games were doing that with more love and passion than now. Nowadays it is... Just a job really and making the expectations of your bosses. Another issue is that we are overwhelmed with too many similar games, and often other devs just force into their own games things that don't work well, but worked great in other games - no true brand, which makes a lot of titles and series too average. Also, people in charge quite often look for the cheapest workers and solutions, which hits hard the quality, while games are with each year more and more complex and technology advanced, which obviously making them requires more time (but Devs don't see that, which results with rushed games (and quite often with less or non experienced people) - just to keep the date of expected premiere). This industry look through the money income too much and forget what games are for (fun). Of course on top of that there are certain problems of each game (i.e. storylines, quests, etc.), but that's a very specific and individual problem of each game title, studio and developer.
I honestly keep saying that for a good 5 years (or more). I even catch myself playing much older games more often than any newer ones. There's not many new games that really catches my eyes. Probably only Devil May Cry and GTA series are the ones that I'm always hyped for, because a lot of really good titles (like Mafia or Max Payne) pretty much will never return. Also because most Ubisoft and EA titles let me down, I'm not interested in them at all. Currently The Finals looks quite fun and solid. so I'm waiting for release. I really hope that this industry will get back on the right tracks, but I'm full of doubt.
