I thought this was obvious! I realized pretty quickly that I could call it good enough unless I was scraping everything out of the bowl or really needed to clean the sides (like incorporating dye into a meringue)
I love the bougie paddles with the spatula scraper edges it makes it sooo much cleaner. I’m such a weirdo when I bake I have to clean between steps and I’m like, not a clean tidy person in the rest of my life just when cooking/baking🥰
You are using a kitchen aid stand mixer. In the top part, there is a screw that adjusts the paddle height. Give it a quarter turn until the paddle is flush with the bowl when on. Hope this helps!
You can also adjust the beater so it reaches the bottom and sides of the bowl better. Or, since you're using a KitchenAid, get the beater that has a scraper already attached.
This isn't lazy, this is utilizing the tools you have in front of you without dirtying another dish. That makes the process more efficient. Better efficiency is definitely NOT laziness, i promise💙
at least for kitchen aid mixers you can buy a paddle attachment either from kitchenaid directly or you can buy third party ones with a silicone flexible edge on one of the beaters that is designed to scrape down the bowl as you mix. Now you odn't have to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowls when baking again.
I learned yesterday that a kitchen aid mixer actually has an adjustment screw on the back of the lever/lifting side to adjust the height of the mixer so you don’t have to go through any of that. I wish I would have saved the video, but I wasn’t really worried about it because I use an electric hand mixer or just use a whisk/rubber spatula.🤷🏽♀️
If you're extra lazy, just unhook one side of the bowl and kind of push it up into the paddle while it's on. This will also scrape the bowl! I did this at the bakery I worked for. 😇
I have a Kenworth - it is both metal (metal against metal scraping = ❌) and has an inverted attachment site (the end that inserts is on the paddle) so it’s unable to stand upright. This advice highly depends on the make of the stand mixer.
Damn didn't know balance things were designed to stand. Idk maybe thought this was a given because I always tried to balance whatever I had to hold for my mom as a kid
We have those at my middle school (basically high school but it’s called middle school in the Netherlands, you start at 12/13 depends on when you were born) we have the bakery, kitchen and the restaurant. Yes we have a real restaurant where people not from our school can come in and the kids have to work
Actually there is an adjustment on your stand mixer KitchenAid that can lower your paddle down to take care of this problem, just saw this recently on a tik tok video read your manual for mixer😂
Personally I wouldn't do that with a coated paddle like the one in this video just in case the coating chips off. Is it snow stainless steel one or the one with the rubber scraper go ahead.
I can see the screw the you use to adjust the height or depth of the paddle . Instead of taking of the paddle and using hand . Defeats the purpose of an electric mixer
I love the paddle attachment being used as a spatula idea but it's not the most convenient for someone with a disability or mobility issues, I need a spatula with a long handle or else it will cause pain to my arms or I can injured myself. The paddle attachment looks like you'd have to put in a lot of force and that it would easily slip out of your hand. I'll have to try it though to see first!!
the bathroom as shooting location rules lmao. i feel dumb for not realizing they can stand upright.
I thought this was obvious! I realized pretty quickly that I could call it good enough unless I was scraping everything out of the bowl or really needed to clean the sides (like incorporating dye into a meringue)
same
agreed
Same, and I don't even own one.
nontent is rampant these days. whole lot of absolutely nothing
good for you guys 🥲🥲🥲
I knew all of this and I'm a home baker. This is an organic thing to do. Some people just don't think of it but I think it's in the stand mixer manual
I have a paddle attachment that has silicone on the sides and scrapes the bowl as it mixes. Best thing I ever spent money on
I love the bougie paddles with the spatula scraper edges it makes it sooo much cleaner. I’m such a weirdo when I bake I have to clean between steps and I’m like, not a clean tidy person in the rest of my life just when cooking/baking🥰
It’s actually a great thing because it’s one less thing you have to wash. ☺️

This!👆🙌✨
That was the most useful thing that I learn all day
You just changed my life. Thank you!!
I've been in culinary for two years and never thought of this!! TYY🙏🏾
Nice. But the stand up part, highly depends on brand. Both mine has a metal pin through it, so its a plate or in the bowl on my side
I love the paddle attachment that had the spatula edges!😊
This is awesome! I hope you'll be giving more fun tips like this!
The bathtub setting❤
I was this old when I learned.... great post!tha thanks for the tips! keep them coming!
You can also adjust the beater so it reaches the bottom and sides of the bowl better. Or, since you're using a KitchenAid, get the beater that has a scraper already attached.
I didn’t know that but thanks
This isn't lazy, this is utilizing the tools you have in front of you without dirtying another dish. That makes the process more efficient. Better efficiency is definitely NOT laziness, i promise💙
I was just about to write that I think I was just being lazy coz I've been doing that without being thought. 😂
You really had to go to french pastry school to learn this. Im a home cook and I knew this when I first looked at my stand mixer lol
🙏🏻 thank you! That’s definitely good to know

Your the best! Thank you 😂😊
I learned that in a normal affordable culinary school.
That's a great tip, thank you!
Wondering how this is oddly specific if it's for a tool you need to use for something you do regularly.
Exactly what I do 😅because I don’t want to wash extra dish that can easily be avoided by doing this or pile up.
❤the bathtub setting is so Royal Tenebaums
This is a GREAT tip!
Wowwww that’s crazy😂
Great result when baking with hand mixer, but when bulk order use standing mixer with cable ties to touch the bottom of bowl
The dough hook can stand up on it’s own aswell
So something everyone knows already 👍
I desperately need that mixer
Good tips!!
this is so useful!
Awesome tips😊
i want that shirt omg
Nice. I always use a spatula, but now I shall be smarter :) Thanx
If you're extra lazy, just unhook one side of the bowl and kind of push it up into the paddle while it's on. This will also scrape the bowl! I did this at the bakery I worked for. 😇
I love your shirt
I wish you could do this with industrial mixers
I absolutely HATE that I never realized this myself, thanks
My slavic grandma is screaming it's all common knowledge here
I have a Kenworth - it is both metal (metal against metal scraping = ❌) and has an inverted attachment site (the end that inserts is on the paddle) so it’s unable to stand upright. This advice highly depends on the make of the stand mixer.
How am I JUST learning this now 😅
Wish this worked with industrial mixers lmao
Geniussssss
Omg thanks 🤩!!!
How did I never thought of that first tip?
Damn didn't know balance things were designed to stand. Idk maybe thought this was a given because I always tried to balance whatever I had to hold for my mom as a kid
If you had to learn this in school there’s no wonder we’re heading backwards
THANK YOU!!
You know you can also get a paddle with a silicon lip on one side... Cuts down on scraping while mixing 😃
Thank you!
Mind blown
Please give us more baking tips!! You can make it a mini series on your channel hehe 🤗
seems easier than grabbing a spatula
I'd probably find it more annoying to constantly take it off and reattach it than just using a spatula ngl haha
We have those at my middle school (basically high school but it’s called middle school in the Netherlands, you start at 12/13 depends on when you were born) we have the bakery, kitchen and the restaurant. Yes we have a real restaurant where people not from our school can come in and the kids have to work
Kenwood ones don't stand up which is like their only downside but I gotta try the spatula trick.

hahaha, you had to go to school for that? real genius.
As a norwegian boy who is 14, i knew all of this😂
hi?
tiny bit bummed you didn't start the video with your signature "hi"
I literally do it because I don’t want to do more dishes lol
Do you know. Most stand mixers can adjust the distance from the paddle to the bowl. You might have to google your mixer to find out how,
Personally I wouldn't do that with a coated paddle like the one in this video just in case the coating chips off. Is it snow stainless steel one or the one with the rubber scraper go ahead.
Cool
I thought this common sense but after reading the comments I guess it’s not
Solid short homes!
I can see the screw the you use to adjust the height or depth of the paddle . Instead of taking of the paddle and using hand . Defeats the purpose of an electric mixer
* loud ceramic scraping a metal bowl*
....
Oh I guess I have to buy that attachment because the ones that came with mine are all ceramic coated
It's not lazy, it's just not making another dish dirty needlessly.
the whisk microphone
I love the paddle attachment being used as a spatula idea but it's not the most convenient for someone with a disability or mobility issues, I need a spatula with a long handle or else it will cause pain to my arms or I can injured myself. well… see I used to try that but like it was sensory hell for me 😭
Interesting
If they can stand or not depends on the mixer/brand. Mine can’t
❤
I thought she said "banking tip" and was prepared to go with it because thats how social media be. But then i read the captio n.
Awesome
I thought everyone did those things reflexively.
She's like a 2 year old trying to grasp geometric shapes... wow
I need a pastry training but I am from India so how can apply?
Clicked on this video bcus it’s filmed in a bathtub 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
We all could see you going for the dough mixer
You know you can adjust the level of the paddle so that you don't have to scape it down constantly?
I don't even think it's lazy. Just smart. Why dirty more dishes than you have to?
...it's more work to take it off and put it back on than to just have a rubber spatula on the side.
Doesn’t everyone do this already?😂
Am I the only one!
Engineers get it right sometimes.
Did this, but never knew it was designed that way... but why are you recording in the bath?
She's adorable but you had to go to French pastry school to find that out?
Thank you baking mommy
Noice
I’m a pretty good baker, but my process is kinda chaotic and not the most hygienic ;;
Isn't this in the manual?
I knew that long ago
Expensive French pastry schools now teaching common sense. That'll be $11,000
You had to go to a French pastry school to learn this???? 😂
