I disagree that there's not much lyrically to "My Hair." If you see Ariana, her hair is always perfect. It's a big part of her image, and she's very protective with it. To let the person touch her hair demonstrates a real connection. I think it's a beautiful sentiment. If you really want to get into her psyche...Thank U, Next is your album.
True, but if you're someone who doesn't know much about Ariana and doesn't know the difference between her public hair vs her private, natural hair, it's easy to dismiss "my hair" as just a song about "getting it on". So you're right, it is a pretty personal song lyrically.
this album is supposed to be more chill. The lyrics are not that deep most of the times. I feel like she's talking about falling in love after being really hurt in the past, so now she's scared to love&trust again. In the end she decides to keep this person in her life & realizes he's her soulmate. She definitely sings about self love too and manifesting happiness and love into her life (Just like magic). It's the law of attraction
This album is basically all about her moving on from what's happened in her past, the terrorist attack, Macs death, and finding her husband Dalton. That's why it talks a lot about her baggage fading, and how she's scared to rush into anything because of everything that happened. it's basically just a sweet love album to her husband, it isn't incredibly deep and was never intended to be but there are subtle hints of depth you can see if you know a lot about her
Ariana got married a few months ago. The album is basically about falling in love again. There’s a story. From hooking up to thinking you won’t find love again, questioning motives, and finally finding your self worth and ability to love
What happened before this album... Well- a lot happened. Her ex boyfriend died, she broke off an engagement and she was basically alone and hurt so she made "Thank u next" with her best friends (It's her more personal album IMO and one of her best). In these hard times she basically learned "how to function" on her own and she focused on self love. She basically realized men ain't sh*t and u don't need them to be happy. After that she was in a better place and made "Positions", touching a bit on those topics, the pain she experienced in the past that left her damaged but she decided to talk about the positive aspects of her life more this time. She did find a new man after all and she's married to him now. Hope this helped and I'm sorry if my English is really bad :)
as a fan, I never know what to expect from Ari she always does something different with her music, but it always sounds like an AG song. Every album/era is new, different and exciting. Positions was more of a chill "car ride" album if that makes sense, and doesnt really make sense if you havent listened to her other albums and don't know ab her past. If you like lyrical content I think Sweetner/Thank u next are her best lyrically. I enjoyed you reaction and ur honesty🖤🖤
Basically this album is about ari stepping out to find love again and just being really doubtful and scared to let her guard down because of her past but then she finds someone (her current husband) that she really likes and she decides to stop running because he makes her feel safe. He makes her want to love her self the same way he loves her. she also said that she was hesitant about dropping a lovey dovey happy album during a pandemic but then she decided that it would be a good thing because people could escape while listening to the album and feel good
i feel like she dives more into her feelings and what she went through and how she was feeling on the albums thank u next and sweetener. she wrote these during her darkest times and was able to show a part of her we didn’t usually see. her lyrics are heavy and actually mean something as opposed to some of her more “poppy” songs. i think positions is a great album but i think that the reason why she didn’t go too too deep into her feelings was because she wanted to tell us how she was healing and that she’s in a better place now and she felt like she said what she needed to with thank u next and sweetener i think? but i think you need to check those two projects out because they are definitely some of the stronger works in her discography.
that's totally what i got from 'shut up' being the opening track. i think it wasn't directed to the haters only but also to her fans who craved more deep/ sad lyrics. she kinda was like 'yea i went through some very dark shit which i was very open about in my previous records but now i'm healing surrounded by amazing people that i love and it's time to stop dwelling on the past and starting to get my life back on track by rediscovering myself and setting healthy boundaries'
you should listen to sweetener - it's a little more personal as it was the first album that came out after the terrorist attack at her concert but its also fun and experiments with a lot of different sounds, its my favourite one for sure :)
theres a deluxe version of this album with five additional tracks ( someone like u [intertude] worst behavior 34+35 [remix with doja & meg] main thing & test drive)
I think the placement of the songs was done as a journey to show where Ariana was mentally and emotionally when she put herself out there meeting someone new. You couldn’t put POV at the beginning because she wasn’t there. A new relationship is full of nasty great sex 😁 in the beginning and then feelings start developing along with fears and insecurities of falling in love and it not working out. As a woman, I understood what Ariana was saying in this album. Soon after the release of Positions album she got engaged and now she’s married. I’m grateful she gave fans a glimpse into her falling in love again.
I feel like this album explores a more 2000s r&b sound. A lot of the chill songs remind me of pop/r&b songs from back then. I feel like everyone isnt going to get it. My Hair reminds me of neo soul from the early 2000s.
Every song on this album is deep, exept 34+35. Theyre just mostly really happy and healing but you can see a lot of refrences to thank u next, just that they went positive. To understand the deepness in these songs you're supposed to listen to thank u next first, because then you'd surely get it. She's healed in positions and is head over heels for her husband
“Just like Magic” is about the Law of Attraction. Ariana is big into that realm of stuff so people like me who are to picked that up pretty fast. It makes the song a hundred times better if you are into, it’s a deeper connection.
A lot of the trauma with Mac came from his passing of course but people also blamed her for his passing which would have made it substantially worse. Any time she sings about him it makes me so sad for her!
In just like magic when she says redesign your brain it’s more like redesigning your brain to change your initial habits- like wanting the password to your partners phone may be a habit you or she would do but she’s grown and retrained herself so that she’s emotionally mature enough to not need or wanna do that. That’s just my take from it anyway :)
I’m late but I don’t think you can judge an albums lyrical content from a singer if you don’t know what they went thru to make the album . Most singers tell stories and she actually told one . This was about her finding love again after all she’s been thru and when she found it , should she let go and let it be . Should she trust someone enough again to fall for them . Finding that person that gives her that safe space and loved her better than anyone before was why she ended it the way she . The album had lyrical content , you just didn’t know the meaning behind it. And Just like magic is a manifestation type song so if you don’t get , you just don’t get it
you miss interpreted the lyrics in “off the table” the weeknd was trying to say he was toxic in past relationships because the relationship dynamics were toxic in themselves. but he’s talking about healing and moving on and being in a healthy relationship
Helloooo ... I have discovered you very recently and I love your reactions and they are very funny 😂 I have a great time and I am also surprised by some of your emotions with many of my favorite singers ❤️ such as the goddess, Mónica Naranjo, India Martínez, Malú, Diana Navarro ... and many more. As you will see, I am Spanish, Andalusian from Jaén. The only difficulty is that sometimes it is difficult for me to understand you through the language, but hey, I am defending myself 😀 aaah, excuse me if I don't express myself too well. A kiss from Spain 😘
If u want her most bop- pop / trap hit album then react to Thank U, Next ( Her most streamed album ) It has a lot of bangers! U will be shocked , i swear!!🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It would be nice if people did slight research before diving in. It’s about the same guy. It’s an album about her love and her journey and self growth. And exploring every angle or position if you will. Of her being in love. Also she’s very well known for being funny lol. Hopefully this doesn’t sound mean. Not Trying to. I’m a new ish subscriber and I love you and your content. I just wanted to slightly educate before the stans attack. Arianators are usually nice. But other standoms for other artists are not so nice and I don’t want them to attack

I agree totally, her hair is a huge part of her image
Every album of Ariana’s is an era and each era has style and meaning and growth. You should totally check out her other albums 😭🥰

On the love language song, at the end there's a pause and it still continues with a short interlude, so it's a whole different song.
