Absolute pain the arse... the suspension relied upon plastic torsion rods that kept snapping and on my pocket money could not stretch to continually replacing them.
Nannie, you are such a talented man. I love watching you build. I enjoy the unique variety of videos you produce. I certainly understand your desire to preserve the past, but until the kit is built, its purpose is not realized. Once built, its history & related memories will not be destroyed. To the contrary they will have been fulfilled.
Had a Tamiya Cheetah for Christmas 1979 still own it plus another I purchased in 2004. They were produced to be built not sit in a box on a shelf until anybody that's interested is no longer around to care anyway. The time to keep these type of items unbuilt for some sort of misguided prosperity is well and truly gone. Anybody that had these as kids in the 1970's will be approaching their 60's or over 60 years of age so why or what are we saving them for. Needs to be built and run. Personally I hope Tamiya re-releases the cheetah like they did with the XR3-11 to put an end to ludicrous asking prices for unmade kits or bits of old plastic they call spares. Enough is enough.
I respect your opinion and in some points are agree. But to me opening an old mint box give to the joy I had opening my first Tamiya box and this is not a small thing. Consider that box art is the result of the effort of marketing people the want to surprise you.... I don't think it's only plastic...
Hi Nanni I don’t think I could bring myself to build up the cheetah body I would keep it unbuilt and just look at it all in the box the would give me enough pleasure. I’m secretly hoping tamiya will release the cheetah next year as an anniversary bonus!! 🤞 take care
Nanni, leave the unbuilt kit as is. As you pointed out, it is a time capsule. They are just original once. IMO, it would be a shame to open those bags! Great video, as always 👍
I would keep the cheetah shell. The box and contents are in such great condition. It really is a step back in time. With the XR311 shell I would try and source the missing parts or failing that get rere components.
Normally I would say to keep it in the box but since you have a completely built chassis for it to go on then I would be inclined to go ahead and build it so you could have the finished kit. The chassis alone is no good, it needs a body and you don't really need 2 XR311 kits built so the Cheetah would look super cool sitting next the the 311!
Well by now you are the second yes..... I'm tempted to have the model. But! I have no rims so it will be a partial complete model....These are problems HAHAHA. Ciao
Couple things. That's not a tiger but a cheetah as the name of the car suggests (I'm talking about your comment on the alternative paint schemes), second, the wheelbase is different between xr311 and Cheetah. I would not build it, those bodysets are very valuable. I would find an used one to restore, instead.
I think Tamiya may re re this one. Pretty much the machining for the chassis is obviously already done. My brother still has his original, with broken torsion bars of course. Keep it packaged, but if they re re it build it.
Ciao Nanni! Understandably difficult decision. I would say; If you don't build it, sell it to an investor who will not. Plastic and rubber (gummy) degrades quickly, as will our own generation and possibly the nostalgia market value of these items.will do so with us... I'm not sure my cars will be as valuable to my Son's generation? Alternatively, build it, enjoy it, share it on here - and maybe the financial deficit could be recovered by YT revenue? I do have one YT friend with a popular channel who makes a point of vintage unboxings, with the nostalgic smells, but also the material degradation - and also the controversy in doing so creates discourse- arguments in comment sections are fairly valuable on YT apparently! ... ;) ;) You must do what you feel is right, of course. Ciao Dude, and all the Best! :)
Well, appreciate your opinion and I'm mostly agree. About plastic I can say that fortunately I had degeneration only with Porsche 959 Dakar rally, the other are still in very good conditions after more than 40 years. This is one of the reasons why Tamiya is so appreciate. Gummy... never had problems till now. For sure what you say is right now or then. About value, for sure our generation and a little more is interested, young one are quite not interested in automotive overall (because cars are no more fascinating and the lie about pollution makes a great work just to sell electric cars) my personal feeling is not to lose such a rare box of time. I'll se the result of this test. Ciao!!
Absolute pain the arse... the suspension relied upon plastic torsion rods that kept snapping and on my pocket money could not stretch to continually replacing them.
Yes unfortunately this is the weak point... Ciao!
I say build it! Fulfill its purpose and make it complete. It’ll be a vey cool project.
Another yes!! So we have 4 no and 3 yes!! Well done! Thank you

So you say Built! And with you the situation is: built 5 - no built 10....... Thank you
Do it Nanni. It's no fun leaving it in the box.
First one say build! thank you

OOOK! Agree, and now It's 7 no and 3 yes..... Thank you! Ciao
Nanni! Get the history roling 👍🇸🇪
But not falling!! Ciao
Nanni, leave the unbuilt kit as is. As you pointed out, it is a time capsule. They are just original once. IMO, it would be a shame to open those bags! Great video, as always 👍
And two not open!! Thank you!!

Personally I will leave the new box intact and rebuild the other one, the green version, for the pleasure of riding. Ciao.
And three not open!! Thank you, by now we are 3 to 1! Ciao!
Nanni I have same headache unbuilt body kit but a rere xr311 I’ve also got another chassis for cheetah and body that needs attention 😊
So? What do I have to do, by now we are 4 no an 2 yes.... Ciao!

oookk!! the most of you don't want me to build.... Ciao!
This kits were meant to be build !! In fact I am building one right now ! (But then, i have 2 Cheetah body’s in the box ;) )
Haha! Easy to built it having other more! So I consider even... Ciao!!
I think Tamiya may re re this one. Pretty much the machining for the chassis is obviously already done. My brother still has his original, with broken torsion bars of course.
Keep it packaged, but if they re re it build it.
And wit this we have 6 no and 3 yes. Thank you and Ciao
Very rare car. I would personally keep the car unbuilt in the box.
This is my idea too, thanks for your opinion I'll take care. Ciao
Nanni - Do what you would like to do. Me? I would set it aside as is and work on other projects until I had more time to think about it.
Ciao Nanni!

Dear Nanni. Put the box aside, per la prima volta
Thank you. Now is 8 no and 3 yes...... let see. Ciao!!
Hard to choose Nanni!
But remember that there is a slightly different wheelbase on these two!
Can't remember how much but it's a bit...🤏
You are right, that's why I'm making a test, by now we are 4 no an 1 yes... No matter I have instructions.... Ciao!
