  • Up close of an absolutely beautiful 57 Year Old DC-9, yes, 57 Years old!! This is the oldest DC-9 still flying in the world, carrying line number 79.
This December 1966 built bird started its life out with Continental Airlines, and later on in its life, it was converted to a freighter and has been with Ameristar Cargo since 2015.
Enjoy the JT8D-7A startup sounds and the Loud full power takeoff, allowing some crackle to break through the pesky Stage III hush kits, of which you can see in the tail pipes at 3:23.
    Info:
    Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15F
    Engines: 2x Pratt & Whitney JT8D-7As
    Flight Number: AJI9627
    Route: Chino to Everett
    Date: 1-27-24
    Departure time: 4:00 PM PST
    Arrival time: 6:20 PM PST

Wow! This video is a beautiful slice of heaven! Wow!
On departure, I couldn't turn my head away from the burning oil coming from the #1. Amazing job on this, man! Keep it up.

I love the sound of those JT8D engines! I'm glad to see the vintage airliner still flying today. The DC-9 has truly stood the test of time indeed.

I love how the thunderous roar of the JT8Ds is replaced by the tranquil sound of crickets. Wonderful video, thanks for uploading!

Not this plane but a Delta DC-9 was the first plane I flew on back in 1972, 6 years old at the time. CVG to Chattanooga, Tennessee with my dad to bring back a Tow truck from the Holmes plant. STILL have the Delta wings and a post card of a Delta 747 that they gave to kids.

Fantastic!! My favourite DC9 is the Shorty 9!! I miss flying on these and seeing them in regular passenger service.

I got some more gems on here that you’ll really enjoy, such as Unhushed Gulfstream II’s for example!

Can you do the other locations of the SONGS siren that you forgot like OC-07, OC-08, SP-03, AND SP-05? But can you try reach SJ-04? Do a Aftermath of the SONGS sirens Part 3.

I can’t access OC-07 and OC-08, as those are on the property of the former Capistrano test site, which I believe the land is owned by Camp Pendleton. The site was decommissioned and demolished by January 2010, which is when the two Whelens were removed.
SP-03’s cabinet is now owned by me, and I tried to get to SP-05, but it’s buried way back in the bushes and it’s nearly impossible to get to without having something to plow all the vegetation down. Not to mention it’s not even visible from the bike trail it’s along as the vegetation is taller then it.
SJ-04 is shown in Part 2, and I covered pretty much everything, so I don’t need to make a Part 3.
