38 with injury after 2 consecutive 5 set matches ..... can you blame him? He still mustered his best for the first 15min of that match and was beating him in that first set, but then his energy lvls were zapped and barely hit serves over 110mph

I take away from this that Novak and Roger have the same game plan when matches are really tight: they just keep the ball in play and count on the other guy to lose his composure. The big difference between the two and how this tactic works for them is that Novak has become an all time great by just keeping the ball in play and Federer has become an all time great with attacking tennis. So it works better for Novak. You can check out the Millman match, the Sandgren match and the Wimbledon final (or the 2018 semi against Rafa): when Roger/Novak is up against the wall they simply don't do any stupid shit and the other guy (Millman, Sandgren, Federer) cracks.

Hmm ... he doesn't look angry here. More a little resigned, knowing he's way off his best and facing an in-form opponent. He looked pretty sheepish after the win. When I think of angry/grumpy matches of his, they often didn't go his way (though the anger could easily be effect, rather than cause) - e.g. the 2018 Indian Wells final against DelPo, his Australian Open QF match against Tsonga in 2013 (he won that in 5) or the US Open final 2009 or his match with Zverev in Shanghai 2019, where he got a very rare point penalty. My own experience with anger is that it doesn't help unless you keep it below the surface. But I guess we're all different.

MAYBE JUST A LITTLE POWDERED SUGAR Don't forget to add that Novak defeated "injured" Roger on that day
And as far as sandgren is concerned, he had seven chances to dethrone Federer but this "injured" Federer still made it and put up a fight against Novak

1:12 rally is the reason Fed hasn't won even more than what he did. He should have attacked on the first forehand, instead the went to the net at the third shot, which was the weakest and easiest to pass. I wish he had been more aware of net coming opportunity, which he creates aplenty with his inside out forehand, especially over the latter stages of his career.

I'm a Fed fan here, but I think that out of the big 3, Fed has the worst backhand and that's why he's not the king of the game rn. Not looking for harsh responses from anybody. Just sharing my opinion

Actually he has one of the best Single-handed backhands in tennis. Since the beginning of 2017 he has improved his back hand significantly though Stan Wawrinka stands best when it comes to Single-handed backhand in the game. On the flip side, Roger's forehand has declined over the years precisely from 2nd part of 2018 season though he has struck some electrifying forehands in this match. What Roger lacks is the mental strength of his great 2 rivals otherwise he would have easily won the Big W-2019. He does choke at the crucial moments of a final or for that matter in a tight game, e.g 2018 Indiana Wells final against Del Potro, 2019 Nitto ATP WTF semis against Stefanos Tsitsipas to mention a few. Otherwise he would have broken the record of Jimmy Cornors 109 titles long ago.Just to inform you that, I have started to watch tennis only because of Roger Federer and the day when he hangs up his racket i won't be watching tennis again.

U r right. Nadal backhand is ugly and one dimensional but much more consistent than most players probably due to very hardcore intense training and mental strength. But Roger trained a lot his as well and won AO 2017 due to it
