"russian" vodka with a pride flag on it is funny as hell
Lol yeah
Was a bit surprided too, so i googled:
The LGBTQ community once boycotted Stoli, but it was kind of by accident.
Not very long ago, there was a big, misplaced anti-Stolichnaya boycott on behalf of LGBTQ rights. In 2013, Vladimir Putin passed the so-called “gay propaganda” law, supposedly “aimed at protecting children from information promoting the denial of traditional family values,” a very thinly veiled tactic to enforce the heteronormative lifestyle by banning visibility (and viability) of the LGBTQ lifestyle.
LGBTQ activists rightly responded with protests and product boycotts, but incorrectly included Stoli on the list, considering it a Russian product - when in fact it’s been made in a historic distillery in Latvia since 1948 and is owned by a man who is Russian but constantly at odds with Putin himself.
@@dariuskolba oh that's awesome, and fantastic of them to Pride-up their label to set things straight!
@@saber1epee0 Oh wow, I guess it's more Stoli' for you and no more for me.
There's two separate companies, one Russian state owned, producing Stolichnaya with an ongoing dispute over the trademark. The one available outside Russia is from SPI Group, a Luxembourg based company that waters down and bottles Russian made alcohol in Latvia.

Well if carbonated wine goes to your head imagine the effects of a glass of carbonated Vodka . Maybe you could try it in the next Patreon live stream.

Are you really sure you want to see BC on carbonated Vodka? 🤔
On the other hand it could become a quite "interesting" evening.
Should be in an MBC stream
Imagine what would happen if you took this carbonated vodka and added some sort of flavouring to it. Perhaps that might become a thing. What’s that? Oh … apparently someone else has already done that 😂
At an event I won't name, I once sat in a sauna with a shot of Viru Valge 80% vodka in a plastic cup. It was actually practically impossible to drink (not that any sane people drink 80% ethanol straight up anyway, it was more of a joke). At that temperature, over 80°C, it evaporated so strongly that the cup was filled with a kind of ethanol vapour above the vodka, and bringing it up to my lips made that vapour get in my nose, leading to a coughing fit every time.
It starts getting unpleasant above 50%.
Just be glad noone lit a match
Ah, yes, I remember the first time I had warmed sake. I tried lifting the little flat bowl-thing to my mouth several times, and each time the little whiff of pure ethanol that was slowly evaporating from it hit my nose. Each time this happened it was like a part of my brain just went into a "what are you doing? no, stop that" mode. I took a shot of rum to quell that part of my brain and enjoyed the sake quite a bit after then.
@Ben Ng lol freeze... Good luck with that... But everclear when heavily chilled will absolutely carbonate...

Ah, this takes me back to when i worked with a commercial carbonated vodka in the early 2000😊 The tricky bit is that carbonated vodka is extreamly sensetive to absorbing flavors, as the carbonation enhances it. Especially plastics and rubber o-rings. If i remember correctly, EPDM and Silicone where the only sealing materials we could use.

It would be a different story, maybe... But please don't drink that one, we still like you and want more videos from you 😊.
Co2 is apparently much more soluble in alcohol than in water, some 10 times (water is polar, alcohol less so and co2 not at all)
Cant find any sources not behind a paywall though
@@AngDavies Hmm. According to Wikipedia, carbonated water turns into carbonic acid. I wonder if something similar happens in alcohol. Maybe that's why there's a paywall.
@@florinpandele5205 in water at least, very little ends up as carbonic acid, most of it is just dissolved co2, that step is very slow.
Humans( and over living things) have enzymes that mean that step is vastly faster.
Most alcohols don't react easily with co2 either, though some, like propylene/ethylene glycol do, and you can then substitute other alcohols to get the carbonic acid analogue you want, for ethanol it would be diethylcarbonate
Apparently used as solvents in lithium ion batteries.
It would interest me to know if more CO2 would dissolve, if the vodka was prechilled in an ice bath, to about 0 C.
Or put in the freezer. At -30 it begets a thick consistency.
Just say chilled. That it happens before is evident from the word being in the preterite form. There is only thing that adding the prefix pre to anything without actually adding any value: pretentious.
@@Anvilshock Fair enough. I was thinking to two possibilities: Chilling the vodka before applying pressurized CO2 or while CO2 pressure was being applied. But it may not make any difference. So, "chilled vodka" it is.
@@jpopelish Well, if it happens _while_ it is being applied, it's not chilled _yet_ and as such would not deserve the label of "chilled". (Unless some chilling happened before that was then finished during the carbonisation.) Either way, good on you for going genuinely analytical about it rather than becoming disproportionately defensive and violently hostile over a criticism over the individual use of the tools and methods commonly agreed upon for communication and exchange of ideas, something that appears all too preferrable these days.
