I LOVE Oumeno! I love their dynamic: Kokichi being the more extroverted (maybe ambivert but leaning more towards extrovert) one, and Himiko being the introvert. I think Kokichi can help Himiko come out of her shell, and Himiko can help Kokichi to mellow out a bit. I love how goofballish they can be (I say this many times), and they’re just cute together; they’re short, they both wear capes and hats…heck, they both made Miu squeal a few times and they’re both kinda harsh to Kiibo. They’re just great together. XD
Even though I’m a huge fan of Oumeno, however, I wanna say that I think that it is one-sided on Himiko's part, but only because I am not sure how Kokichi feels about pretty much anything, given how much he lies about everything. I do believe Himiko had a crush on him, though. I think it started in the prologue when Miu said that the exisals should kill all the uggos first. Kokichi told Himiko to run, and she asked why he was so concerned about her. I think she might have mistaken Kokichi’s tease for genuine concern, and that’s where her infatuation with him began, since probably no other guy her age had paid her any attention like that.
Another reason why I believe Himiko had a crush on him was that she seems to take what Kokichi says to heart, whether it benefited her or hurt her. A few instances I can think of is when Kokichi called Himiko out for not caring about Tenko until after she died. Gonta (or was it Kiibo?) said that he went too far saying that, but Himiko agreed with him (Kokichi). Another instance is, of course, at the end of the third trial when Kokichi tells Himiko to stop trying to bottle her emotions in. Even after Kaito and Shuichi gave their speeches to Himiko during the third trial, Himiko was still hiding her feelings afterwards, but it wasn’t until Kokichi said something to her that she finally released her emotions. Another time I can think of is in the fourth chapter where everyone was in the dining hall, and Kokichi came in late, he said she looks like a can of tuna, or something. Later on after that, if you talk to Himiko outside the school, she recalls that event and says that she’s hungry for tuna chips, or something. XD In the fourth trial, during a non-stop debate, Kokichi is accusing Kaito of being the culprit, and he’s saying why. Himiko is completely convinced by what he says which causes her to say: “Well, Kaito, any last words?” XD Also, during the fourth trial, Kokichi makes that comment about Himiko’s chest. Himiko has always had her chest made fun of before that happened, only by Miu, and Himiko didn’t really seem to be fazed by it. But if you were to talk to Himiko at the beginning of the fifth chapter after Kokichi made that remark about her chest in the fourth trial, Himiko suddenly talks about wanting to make her chest bigger, and she states that nobody will ever make fun of her chest size anymore. All that being said, I think Himiko kind of hangs onto the words that Kokichi says and I think she cares what he thinks of her.
Another indicator why I think she likes Kokichi is because of..yes, the Chapter 5 trial, but for a different reason. XD Yes, yes, I think the whole thing between “Kokichi” and Himiko in that part was cute, but let’s take the part where Himiko says to him “Don’t bully the person you like!” If you go back to the fourth trial, Kokichi angrily says to the others “You guys pick on me and gang up on me, but you’re going to call yourselves good people?!” Himiko then says, “I never picked on-” but Kokichi cuts her off. She was about to say that she never picked on him, because apparently, she believes that she shouldn’t bully the person that she likes. And the thing is, she never really did pick on Kokichi. She might have said some retorts in response to him teasing her, but she never went out of her way to pick on him.
Now, with Kokichi, it’s a bit hard to tell, cuz he’s liar boy. XD But, I like to think he had some feelings for her, maybe not as romantic as Himiko’s feelings for him, but still. Like, he never really berated her about her magic in the second chapter when mostly everyone else was giving her crap for it. I like how in the third trial, he brought it up when he said, “This must be Atua’s will! Or maybe the power of maaagic.” Whether he was teasing or flirting with her, I still thought that was cute. XD I also thought it was weird that he told Himiko to express her feelings after trial three, but told Shuichi to basically “be happy again” after Kaede’s execution. I’m not saying he cared more for Himiko and didn’t care about Shuichi’s feelings, but I found it strange why he would do that.
This isn’t proof, or anything, I just thought this was cute, but during the seance in Ch. 3, Kiyo tells Kokichi to do something (I forgot). XD Kokichi says something like, “Okie-dokie! Got it!” Then, Kiyo tells Himiko not to move, and Himiko responds with “Nyeh, got it.” I like how she repeated what Kokichi said. XD
Also not proof, but Himiko’s familiar is a black-and-white tiger cub. I like to think that because she likes Kokichi, her familiar is black and white, like his scarf. ^^
I think that’s all the stuff I want to write, for now. But, yes, Kokichi and Himiko are so cute together! I love them! Had the killing game not been a thing, I think they’d make an awesome couple, and I want them to grow old and die together! ^-^
Wow thats a really great analysis! I never noticed any of the small things that Himiko did before, also the part where she wanted to strip Kokichi, which is very peculiar, Himiko 🤨 xD
I really wish we couldve seen Kokichis side more.. *sighh*
And yeah, if the killing game didnt happen they wouldve been really adorable, grow old together, and I guess die together too xD

Haha, yeah, I think she said that twice about Kokichi about wanting to strip him butt-naked. XD I'm like, "Dang, Himiko! You're kinda thirsty for Kokichi!" XD Same. I also wish we could know for sure how Kokichi felt about her. I do think he at least cared about her, though.

I myself ship platonic Oumeno. Man, they should have been an actual chaotic duo in game....
tbh Oumeno shippers are one of the coolest, nicest people you might ever meet, despite what others might say about the overall ship
I don’t know which ones you’ve met but I cannot say the same about my personal experiences. Someone got mad at me for like saiouma once… they were not nice at all to me. But, that’s just my experience
@Kokichislay man, that's horrible, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I'm actually surprised because I'ce met a lot of oumeno shippers, and most of them were really nice. Maybe it's because I tend to stay closer to the nicer part of the DR fandom
@@Aldanaonair it’s fine. Just my personal experiences with this. But, I will say the saiouma shippers I’ve met aren’t toxic. The ones I’ve met are very funny, nice, and overall stuff like that. I think a lot of people think we’re toxic is because there are some, but as someone engaging in that community they are very nice. I wish I could say the same, personally, for oumeno shippers I’ve met. I bet there is a lot of great people shipping them but I’ve not met many like that

Ok I’m not as good as expressing my thoughts but I thought I might as well add my two cents on this. Numbah 1 I freaking love this ship so much one of my otps. reasons: they have a lot of parallels to each other as you and others have listed. They have very interesting and cute dynamics that I absolutely adore.

imo, i didn’t really like oumeno at first, but that was probably due to the biased opinions on the ship i had gotten from all over tiktok. currently i find it a really cute ship i like!
Himiko is a magician, and Kokichi is like a clown. So I think it's cute and logical to ship them together since they're both entertainers. And from Kokichi's POV, it makes sense the Ultimate Supreme Leader would want a girl that can play the "dark sorceress" role for him, and who better to play that role than the girl who calls herself the Ultimate Mage?

I love Oumeno!
Design-wise I love how aesthetically pleasing they are, purple and red really go good together, and they both have pretty similar design 'accents' like, because Kokichi is a liar and Himiko a magician both include a lot of 'trickery' in them like, Ive seen alot of fanart of Kokichi and Himiko that has cards involved or chess pieces, they both have capes, they both have hats, and both are probably the only characters who are associated with fruit (aside from Hajimes orange) Kokichi is grapes because of his Panta and Himiko strawberry from her lab door, plus Kokichi finally found someone whose shorter than him lmao
And another thing is that Himikos tiger cub is black and white which goes along with Kokichi so well. Put all of those things together and it just looks so good! xd
Dynamic-wise I fell inlove with this ship because of this reason, when I first found out about this ship it was around the time of me playing mid chapter 3, I brushed it off and said that "people just probably ship them because of their heights" and left it at that, tho for some reason this ship stuck to me and I decided to read a fic of it, and I think thats when my Oumeno decent started lol
It started off being one fic but then it became to suddenly reading every fanfiction on ao3 thrice and scowering every fanfiction site I could think of, and at this point I didnt even know if Drv3 had any Oumeno moments at all when I found out about it tho it was a nice addition, Im just really a sucker for the flirty x flustered trope lol ><
Its really nice seeing a ship analysis video for Oumeno from someone who does ship Oumeno. I was a bit nervous before watching but it was a nice treat, Oumeno definitely isnt a perfect ship and I wont deny that it has its bad times, but for me its just the idea of them being together and the possible what-ifs are whats making me ship them. and I am very happy that theres more genuine oumeno videos coming out these days more than slander (tho there are still some apps to keep in mind) and I agree that the Oumeno fandom has alot of really good artists and writers, honestly i really cant even decide which Oumeno fanfic would be my favorite THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD! and I could honestly just sit and admire some artworks for awhile too. For some people like me, reading fanfic for this ship was really like the "you know what? This is kinda cute" moment from me shipping it lol, so I highly recommend reading some just for a good time on Ao3 and some even on wattpad. (I do recommend getting a registered account for ao3 since some oumeno works may be privated, which means you can only view them with registered accounts sadly)
And I agree that oumeno really did get more popular around the late 2021 there were alot of entries for oumeno week that time which was a really great experience, i really do hope that the oumeno fandom could get to that point again once Dr gets mainstream once more, hopefully when Spike Chunsoft will create more games (I really hope so TT)
Anyway I was only suppose point out a couple of things but it turned into some sort of rant (sorry xD) Maybe im just a biiiit biased but I found this video great! Really underrated, I hope you do Saimatsu next if it hasnt been done already!
Oh, and did I mention theres an Oumeno playlist on spotify? Highly recommend even if you dont ship oumeno hehe ;)

the kokichi gay shippers are really the worst when it comes to this ship ...i think its really cute and i like it very much it is however sometimes toxic ngl

- Hajime and Mikan
- Kaede and Kokichi
- Celeste and Byakuya
- Kyoko and Aoi
- Kyoko and Byakuya
- Kirumi and Korekiyo
- Gonta and Kaede
I'd also suggest Nagito and Seiko.
Maybe even Aoi and Seiko if Seiko had been allowed to treat Aoi's injury in Future Arc episode 5.
Both of them kinda sounds, acts, looks like 5 year olds so it's perfect in my opinion

I am not trying to be mean! I hope you can actually consider my comment! Honestly, I hate how you kind of backhand saiouma shippers as being toxic. I’ve seen every single Danganronpa ship ever have toxic fans, including oumeno. Saiouma has more because it’s a more popular ship. It’s kinds of like saying 65% of the population has more toxic people than 35% of the population. It makes sense because there’s more people in it, therefore more likely to have toxic fans. For the comparison to hananene they are completely different. I’ve spent hundreds of hours on the hananene ship, I’ve seen every manga multiple times, watched the anime multiple times, and I can confidently say they are completely different! For the fan art you showed, I’ve seen things exactly like that for other ships as hanako / Yashiro (you might of not seen them since I’m pretty sure you aren’t in any other Kokichi shipping communities) Also it is really toxic. For the post third trial I see it as Kokichi insulting her and making fun of her bottling up, for a simple example here. “My friend is dead…” “fucking cry, little bitch” “WAAAHHHHH” Also, this is more in link with everyone consulting her instead of just Kokichi (mostly Tenko) especially because it replays the scene of tenko telling her that stuff when she cries. Also, I hate how you say it’s good because they are both short and childish. That is literally the only thing they have in common and everything else about them is different. The “head cannon” part made me feel so mentally destroyed because they are literally head cannons. It’s almost the same for every other ship. The mention of fan art and fanfics goes for every other ship in existence, they all have good fan art and fanfics. Kaito does mention he has to improv some of it. If Kokichi wanted it to be believable then he would’ve said something more similar than all the other things he said. Also, this was in a conversation he couldn’t have scripted because he never knew it was gonna happen. Himiko blushing can go either way because of Kokichi or because of someone liking her but I won’t comment on it for that reason. Also, most the things he says are more making fun of and insulting rather than teasing. Overall, the only substantial thing I heard is that “ooh they are childish and short so it’s cute” which is honestly really stupid. (You can ship whatever you want I just want to give out my opinions. I don’t want people to think I’m toxic for insulting their ship I just want to explain my own points because recently I’ve been getting REALLY frustrated with oumeno.)

@@bankasupa I’m not gonna list my opinions in tenmiko because this isn’t about that, but I mention tenko because Himiko crying and letting go wasn’t because of Kokichi. It was mainly because of tenko, the reason they showed a flashback of tenko during that moment. Also, even if tenmiko is or isn’t better, oumeno, i would say, is most definitely a proship.

Personally, I don't believe Oumeno is toxic. And, as an Oumeno shipper, I don't ship them solely because they're short and childish. At the end of trial 3, we see one of the very few moments of Kokichi being nice. Though his words sound harsh, the fact that he decided to say something *at all* proves that he felt sympathy for Himiko. Everyone else was about to leave her alone, but Kokichi created a moment so that *everyone* in the room could console her and cry with her so that she wouldn't feel so alone. Had Kokichi not said anything, it's possible Himiko would have bottled her feelings to the point where she might have taken her own life. She was really depressed. Shuichi thought the best thing for her was to leave her alone, but Kokichi *knew* that she needed a good cry.
Besides, why else would he have said anything to her? Why would it matter to him if she expressed her emotions, or not? It wasn't part of his overall plan to defeat the mastermind. So, why say anything to Himiko in that moment? I believe it's because he truly felt sympathy for her, but to keep up up his evil persona to fool the mastermind, maybe that's why he sounded harsh. Because of Himiko lying to herself, I think Kokichi can relate to that, and I think that if they took the time to actually talk to each other, Kokichi and Himiko would make an awesome couple.
And, about the teasing, Kokichi was the least harsh with Himiko. He actually never straight-up insulted her. By that, I mean that Kokichi never has an issue calling people "dumb," or idiot," or "stupid," "boring," "worthless," etc. He even calls Miu a bunch of nasty things. Even Gonta, who is really nice and just wants to be a gentleman, is occasionally called "dumb," or "idiot" by Kokichi. However, he *never* calls Himiko any of those things. He never straight up calls her ugly. He never calls her dumb, or stupid. He piggybacks off what other people say, or finds a roundabout way of insulting her (comparing her to canned tuna), but he *never* straight-up calls her "ugly." He never has a problem doing that, so why not just straight-up call Himiko ugly? Personally, I think he doesn't want to hurt her feelings too bad because I think he really does have a soft spot for her.
And I don't think Himiko truly hated Kokichi. She wanted Kiyo dead after he killed Angie and Tenko, but even after all the stuff Kokichi had done, she didn't want *him* dead when Maki suggested she'd kill him.
I have way more reasons why I ship Oumeno, but I'll stop there. I do believe it really is a good ship. Like any relationship, it would take time and effort for it to work, but I think Kokichi and Himiko actually work really well together.
