Aloha Luke, I'm sad to hear that cases are going up recently in Hawaii. I hope that you all will be able to keep it down to low numbers over the next couple of months. Thinking about all of you over there. I traveled to Hawaii several times for vacations from 2006 to 2012. I have a special place in my heart for all of Hawaii. I wish you many Blessings and Good Health to you all. :)
Born on Oahu and grew up there. Live in Seattle right now. Still visit the Ohana at least twice a year, but haven't been able to in 2020 because of Covid which hurts so much. So home sick. Worry so much about my mom and dad at these times out there. Mahalos for the update. I work at a hospital in Seattle and have been on the front lines of this since the first Covid positives were detected. Can't wish this enough after seeing how much of a surge occurred so far in Aug there: Everyone on the islands please social distance, keep masking, and stay safe. Can't wait to visit home when things are better. Aloha.
bmvhusky thank you for all you do and for the great advice! Yes sorry this is messing up your plans to visit your home here. Hang in there in Seattle and thanks again for all your hard work! Aloha =)
I'm in Sydney Australia and we went to Oahu last year for the first time. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back when Groundhog Day is over ;) Best wishes to all and thank you for your updates.
Great up dates from Photo Luke. He is on point and thorough. He is like a best friend that knows what is going on here because I was too busy surfing. Thanks for your up dates Photo Luke. Look forward to each post.

Hey PhotoLuke this is PhotoDude from SoCal! Thanks for all the Updates which let me know what was going on with all the Covid Happs over there! I needed the Airline and the Travel Agency both to cancel so I could get a Credit for all that I spent and not lose around 2k if I had to cancel! Just got the News Mon. that I will have Full Credit for all so I can reschedule for Next September! So keep up the Good Work and hopefully I will see you Cruizin Waikiki next year! Take Care, Michael.
Your channel is a blessing. My son is there and i have had airline tickets since February and the airline wont refund my money even though its looking like next year before the possibility of getting to the island. Praying for us all😞
PhotoLukeHawaii says they should be more understanding. TO SAY THE LEAST. The airlines got a huge bail out when trump signed that 6.2 trillion dollar relief bill at the start of this whole B.S. They said 2.2 trillion, yes 2.2 trillion went to the american people. and 4.2 trillion went to banks, airlines, and big corporations. Can you think of any other reason why they should not refund your money. Keep pushing them, don't give up. They will get tired of you and refund your money. It won't be easy.
Thank you. I love the clear information you give, also I trust your reporting. Found you in your walk around. I have many friends there, but can get more info from you. Thanks.
Those are some awesome moments of beauty and interest you give us! Been there 4 times and left a piece of my heart each time, God bless you and your family and stay safe!
I bet strolling down Waikiki Beach from Queen's Surf to Fort DeRussy must bring back good memories. Not too many people around. Must, in a strange way, be rather enjoyable.
I know right. Go figure... Have been thinking about this but it might be they can hold the gyms accountable for keep everything up to Covid standards and at the beaches the city and county have a hard time. I really don't know just trying to make sense of it! I want the beaches open!

I'm visiting Hawaii in October ,but from reports it look like I'll cancel this visit .Last year I was there on my ninth visit to the Islands my second home ,things will get better and I'll be back Mahalo..
The health authority area I live in went from under 100 cases to over 400 in less than a month ( we also have over 1,000 maybe as high as 2,000 people province wide in 14 day quarantine thanks to a party held just south of where I live) and still there are people who don't think it's a problem . I was told people like me shouldn't come out because then people wouldn't have to wear masks ( I have cancer). impressive , the percentage of deceases compared with the amount of contagions its ridiculously low. keep it up guys. Spain indicates 384,270 contagions and 28,670 but internal registry shows up to 40000 deceases which makes a terrible result for us :(
Thank u so much for this update. Worried about my daughter that moved there to Kalihua Kona island about a year ago. I thought Hawaii was gonna be safer than here in P.a but now I’m not so sure. Don’t think there is a safe place. 😞🌴🌴🌴😞
How would they know if you were waiting in the water and not wading in the water. anyway it seems i won’t be back to Hawaii for some time. stay aloha and stay safe !!
How did this happen? Too many people were skipping quarantine. Prisoners transferred from the mainland to Hawai’i were not quarantined the full two weeks and were mixed in with the rest of the incarcerated. Enlisted military and their dependents were exempt from quarantine (these make up a large part of the population and it’s still unknown how many are infected due to “national security readiness...”). Hundreds and then thousands of visitors continued to fly in and only a few were caught in violation of quarantine but there may have been many more who slipped through. And then *sigh* locals who became complacent. But, most notable, an indecisive governor and and incompetent, unprepared, unbothered leadership at Department of Health.
Aloha nui loa! Mostly it is Pacific Islanders. So 5349 cases minus 1921 released cases means total active cases is 3428 "active cases"! Pacific Islanders are 4% of Hawaii population but they are 30% of new cases according to Ige stats on race! Also July 14 testing increased 6% so there were more cases due to more testing but less than 1% tested were positive! health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/what-you-should-know/current-situation-in-hawaii/
Well, this will mean I have to cancel my trip for the 2nd time. The quarantine doesn't make sense since most of the outbreaks are on Oahu.... of the 5000+ cases, only 20 are active on the big island which is where i was planning on spending the entire time. 20 freaking cases out of 185,000 people!!!. He should put the restrictions where the hot spot is... on Oahu only. If governor Ige gets a cut on his arm, does he wrap his whole body in a bandage so he looks like a mummy???! I'm done with this ridiculousness, there are plenty of other tropical places to visit and spend my money than to deal with this stupidity.
While I agree, I believe each island’s mayors can set their own standards (within reason) as well. I’m sorry you had to cancel your trips. Hawai’i island is beautiful!
Same here. October 28 multi-island trip will be a nightmare to cancel/reschedule. I don’t understand this at all. Millions of people in San Diego going about their life in the sun. Social distancing, face coverings, hand washing, and millions of people still out and about here. San Diego just got off the watch list too. It doesn’t make sense that restaurants aren’t take out only and that he’s keeping gyms open but not the beach. This is some clown sheet.
I think is your a selfish person. Come over and do the 14 days quarantine with me in Oahu if you really want something. Just my opinion. Get your money somewhere else. Is not about money...
jasongambit1 I think they don't want it to spread to the other island because they are doing a good job to keep the numbers down. As much as it hurts our economy and the economy of everywhere around the world this is not a good time to travel anywhere and I don't blame you folks to wanting to but, until this thing in under control no where is safe to go.
ALOHA I LIKALEIALANI LAMPURA KUKONU GRAY AND MY BELOVED HUSBAND HANNIMAL TWO MOON'S GRAY, WE ARE SO WORRIED ABOUT OUR HAWAIIAN PEOPLE AND OUR PEOPLE THAT ARE HOMELESS. HOW ARE THEY GETTING MEDICAL HELP OR HAWAIIANS THAT CAN'T AFFORD EXPENSIVE INSURANCE. MAY OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN THROUGH JESUS CHRIST HIS SON WILL ANSWER ALL OUR PRAYERS, OUR LOVE TO ALL HAWAIIANS. ALOHA
@@PhotoLukeHawaii I grew up in a smaller place called Sicamous and between those two places is a tiny place called Canoe so named because it was where the first nations people of the area would beach their canoes or so I'm told. My family homesteaded there in 1888 :)
Why not just shut down Hawaii totally! Is there anything a visitor can do at all? Just close the border (Airport) for heavens sake. Stop all these updates. There is no logic to it after so many warnings, cancellations, etc.
Ricardo Gaerlan I love the way you are thinking cause that would fix many problems! I've been thinking the governor doesn't have the power to do that maybe someone higher but, I really don't know.

Tony C. I think it's cause of the irresponsible gatherings... unfortunately many are young locals.

Pacific Islanders are 4% of Hawaii population but they are 30% of new cases according to Ige stats on race! Also July 14 testing increased 6% so there were more cases due to more testing but less than 1% tested were positive! health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/what-you-should-know/current-situation-in-hawaii/
home is hawaii yeah probably all of that!
Same here! Ugh
Can fish 🎣?
Kaleo yup as long as you standing in the water =)
They better not cancel Halloween
Have a hunch that they will. No trick-or-treat, no parties, no celebrating. The 'Quarantine' MUST be obeyed!
/sarcasm
Obey. Consume. Conform. Resistance is futile
Smart ones will cancel.
ALOHA

ps I live in a small city called Salmon Arm B.C. Canada :)
Mary-Anne Swanson what a cool name!
@@PhotoLukeHawaii I grew up in a smaller place called Sicamous and between those two places is a tiny place called Canoe so named because it was where the first nations people of the area would beach their canoes or so I'm told. My family homesteaded there in 1888 :)
Those numbers are "harrible" and "nasty".
I'm not Hawaiian I'm full Asian cuhz LoL
Getting closer to election
Why not just shut down Hawaii totally! Is there anything a visitor can do at all? Just close the border (Airport) for heavens sake. Stop all these updates. There is no logic to it after so many warnings, cancellations, etc.
Ricardo Gaerlan I love the way you are thinking cause that would fix many problems! I've been thinking the governor doesn't have the power to do that maybe someone higher but, I really don't know.
Only the FAA can close the airport. Latest confusion is CDC says no need to quarantine for 14 days. Oh so confusing.
