    Brilliant Video Mr AFV! I confess to Pausing & Rewinding 1/2 a doz Times to hear that Phenomenal Bass coming through the Arch! That Bass Trombonist is Fantastic! & 3, yes 3! Eb Tubas & 2 Euphoniums! Wow!! No Wonder the Bass is So Good today from the Coldstream Guards Band. Oopsy! a bit of a Slip from the Irish Guards Guest Tuba Player & that Got the Attention of the Guest Grenadier Guards Euphonium Player. It just shows the Talent & Professionalism of these Musicians, Got it back together & still Playing in less than 1 Minute, so much so, that if only 1 in 10 Spectators noticed anything, 2 mins later they'd be questioning themselves, "Did I really See that or Did I imagine it?". That's what sets these Musicians Apart from the Rest. Well Done Guys !. That explains why the Bass is Considerably Louder than Normal. I thought I heard 2 Bass Trombones but I was Corrected there was only 1 & I must have heard the 'Sound Wash' from the 3rd Eb Tuba. Whatever it was, The Bass Section was Very Strong & Fantastic. Great March List today too & if the New Director of Music was wanting to try out New Configurations & Instruments, he's Certainly Selected Marches that plays to the Bands Strengths Today.
    Great Job Mr AFV! Risking Life & Limb in such Big Crowds is Duly Noted. I always Appreciate the Job you do in making these Videos, but When that's done under these Conditions, that is at least Quadrupled! Thanks So Much For This.
    The Term "Easter Court" is very Obvious Today, For the Benefit of any Viewers who Don't know what that Means, here is an Overall Description;
    In a Usual Guard Change at Windsor Castle, the Bands Lead the New Guard up Castle Hill after Turning off the High St & Left into the 1st Gate, which is the Henry Vlll Gate. Just inside that Gate is the Guard House & the Band Plays to Entertain the New & Old Guard & The Public, while the New Guards Relieve the Old Guard who then March to the Guard House where the Band is & Forms up, Ready to be Led Back to Victoria Barracks.
    At Easter, that Changes to a Format that can be Traced Back to the 16th Century for Certain & possibly Earlier. It has gone through Several Evolutions but it's Still done for the Same Reason. In the Tudor Period, Religion was a Very Big Influence on Everyone, from Royalty to Peasant. Add to that Henry Vlll break from the Catholic Faith & the Formation of The Church of England, it created ill feeling in the People Towards the King & Your Faith became a Litmus Paper Test for Henry to test the Loyalty of His Subjects.
    The Royal Court Traditionally Went on a "Progression" throughout the Kingdom. Moving from Royal Palaces to Royal Residences & Stopping at the Houses of Nobility. During Particularly Holy Days in the Church Calendar, the Court Swelled from the Normal of round 1000, to Almost Double that. The First Progression was usually held in the Spring, by which time the Mud & Slush of Winter had dried to make the Roads Traversable. Even Henry Vlll who was known for his Selfishness & thoughtlessness, was Loathed to Spend Easter in a Nobles House, the thought of being Crammed into what would be a Generous Sized Home, with 2000 other People & His Escort was too much. He, just as his Father had done before him, Celebrated the First Leg of the Spring Succession by Going From London to Windsor Castle. There Easter was Celebrated for the Last Entire Week of Lent. The Feasting was only Interrupted by Church & Chapel Services & Hunting. Henry Vlll Loved to Hunt & after all The Court & His Entourage did have to be Fed. The 5 Holy Days of Easter However, were Given over to Church Services, as Many as 4 Times a day & the Private Chapel was almost never Silent. The Noise of the Guards Marching en Masse, Relieved Several Times a Day & The Noise of the Sentries Challenging continually As More Nobility & Local VIPs arrived to Join the Celebrations, as well as the Sounds made by just the Sheer Numbers of Servants, Traders, Deliveries & Butchers Working their way through the Animals Needed for the Kitchens, Interrupted the Solemnity of the Religious Observation. Henry Decreed, just as Many Kings Before Him, that The Guards Should only March on the Grass, Sentries were Moved further Away from the Castle to Challenge New Arrivals, Butchers should be Moved Nearer to the River & All Carts & Wagons had to Muffle their Wheels.
    These were Standing Orders For Every Easter & Soon Became Known as The Orders For the Easter Court. That has Evolved over the Centuries, The Monarch & The Royal Family & Guests No longer have the Noise of Ironed Rimmed Wagon Wheels, The Sound of Animals in Distress as the Butchers Move Amongst them or the Number of Servants that Attended the Nobles & the Church. In fact the Only Remaining Distraction for those of a Pious Nature is The Changing of The Guard. That is now Carried out on the Grass of the Upper Ward Quadrangle. No Church Service at St. Georges Church or in the Private Chapel inside the Castle, will be Disturbed by the Sound of Hobnail Boots Marching around the Paved Areas of the Castle.

    Well I know this is maybe the 4th or possibly 5th filmed version by different channels of the same event but I’ve loved them all! After all , it’s the same magnificent marches played by the same maestros, led by the always outstanding SDM Chambers and with the smartly turned out guards marching behind. But it’s filmed from a different angle and each different angle gives the viewer a different perspective. Superb clarity of both picture and sound too. Thank you very much for sharing😎

      Quite a few new musicians in the band, a new DOM, marching in sixes, a large horn section, two euphoniums (but curiously no bassoons)! A special day that was!

      @@wu_1116Yes, a few musicians from the regional Bands have been posted over to the Band, I believe from BAB Colchester. It was lovely to see a full Rank of French horns too. The new DOM is Major Justin Teggarty.

      The Guard Changes in Windsor are Much Shorter Distance & The Crowds are Much Smaller than London. There's Still a Police Presence, although I don't remember seeing any Mounted Police. They also have a Pace Car. The King & Queen & some of the Royal Family are in Residence at times over Easter Weekend, so there's Probably an even Greater Number of Police Scattered through the Town.

    Hi AFV, and thanks for an excellent video of a great day and performance!
    I've just noticed something, and wonder if you, or anyone else, would know the answer. As well as the band being 6 abreast, I see that when they march back, they're not in "mirror image" of when they marched outbound. I'm pretty sure that normally if say a particular player marches out on the East side of the High Street, that player will still be on the East side when they march back. Here, it seems to be the other way round. As an example, if we look at the bass trombone in the front rank, when they start he's at the right hand end of the front rank and is on the East side of the High Street. When they come back, he's still at the right hand end of the front rank and is on the West side of the High Street. I may be wrong, but this seems unusual. I wonder if it's because they do it differently when they do Easter Court?

      They form a circle up at the quadrangle, this means they form, up differently on the march back!

      It's Supposed to Change to Summer Order on 31st March, when the Clocks Go Forward. That's What I was told by MrBaton & it was Confirmed By a Musician in the Welsh Guards. However, Someone else has been saying he's seen Reports that the Change to Summer Orders has been Delayed Due to the Weather Still being Cold. If they do Go into Summer Order as usual, Then the London Palaces Guard Change on Sunday Morning, will be in Red Tunics.
