Rick loves his Beth so much, that he gave her an opportunity to live out both lives she wanted. He didn't want to know whcih one was the clone because he didnt want to treat one beth lesser than the other despite being a clone. Without knowing which one is the clone, he has to treat both as the real beth.
That and also there will be a Beth with him because he wants her a part of his life but on the other coin hates himself so he also wants Beth to have a life without him
Think it had more to do with the fact that he didn't care if she stayed or left so he let the machine decide and started drinking
@antOeltigre If he truly didn't care, why would he go through the trouble of making sure that he wouldn't/couldn't know which one was the clone?
He did tell Beth that she should do what she wants, but remember, later, it was revealed that she wanted him to choose for her. That should have been super easy, barely an inconvenience if he didn't actually care since she would never know anyway.
@@The_Rickest_Rick he mind blew himself cause he thought it would be funny. He does realize that he's a terrible father and the next season he is getting better in this last season though.
The whole fan base for a whole year was making theories about if Beth was a clone or not, and the series gave us an amazing answer!

I don't care if he saved the day, Jerry's last straw for me was the remote episode. Done!
It's subjective as shit, but this and the s5 opener are top 10 all time episodes for me glad to be here for the ride
remember that poll you made a few months back about nicole and beth? i didn't want to spoil it but this is why i voted nicole to be the better mother. to even consider abandoning your kids and family and letting a clone fill in for you is throwed off to me. lol
to be fair, this beth isn't the original season 1 beth, so maybe if she was still alive and still around she wouldn't have made the same decision. lol

It´s called being afraid and nothing to be proud of.
Beth wanted Rick to chose which Beth stays and which Beth leaves. But Rick cannot decide something like that, because as a loving father this puts him in an impossible place.

Btw Space Beth is actually the real Beth. Because she said she divorced Jerry. Also Clone Beth came to the realization she was a clone and not acting the way the real Beth does. Summer even noticed that she changed. Hence Space Beth=Real Beth

Jerry yelling "hey" when being told to do something was kinda the running joke. The galactic feds were gonna merk him until he said "All I can do is say hey!" Not the most helpful, but self preservation is self preservation
When Beth asks Rick to choose for her, my mommy heart broke for him, as a parent,I think many of us want both options, stay with me, and also live your life for yourself, Rick took the easy answer and gave her both, eliminating his need to choose at all.

Always hated this episode. Beth does the most to wonder if she's real or not then at the end Rick this the bad guy when it was Beth decision to lead 2 life's. Rick not knocking who's who is a father's burden of having to support his daughters decision
You gotta love how the show decided that Beth will never face any negative consequences for pushing this decision onto Rick and instead will just get to call him out on doing what she asked him to do constantly.
