Hey man. As someone who reviews these models and collects them for a living, I must say your excitement was thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Also, You are correct, it is called a fifth wheel. First Gear and DCP have been around for years. As far as I know there are NO plans for a company to buy them out. I have not heard any internal rumblings to that extent.
I just got mine this week. Super impressive. Only thing that's not accurate.....it has a Cummins instead of a 8v-71 Detroit Diesel. My life is now complete.
The pick up bed trailer hookup is called a gooseneck. The trailers kingpin slides in to the 5th wheel. As a truck driver, i noticed the two different airline coils and thought that attention to detail is very cool. One airline for the trailer brakes, one airline for trailer air suspension.
Just a correction.... The red airline is for EMERGENCY brakes. The blue or green line, depending on the truck manufacturer, is for Regular brake usage. AND.... The black line is the electrical outlet = all lights on the trailer. Not all trailers have air suspension, the ones that do, run off of the trailer air tanks that also supply air for the brakes.
It was the comet but the ending (spoiler alert!) implied aliens were involved as a UFO was said to be shot down by a Soviet "weather satellite" 2 days after the comet passed.
Hot Wheels would more than likely release The Green Goblin Truck as part of Hot Wheels Track Fleet line which are known for making big rigs an their trailers.
You didn’t screw it up it is called the 5th wheel!! The little pin that sticks off the bottom of the trailer is called the king pin. There are different models of 5th wheel and some people may choose to call them by their brand name. But the basic component itself is called the 5th wheel!!
the Head is not really identical to film SADLY and The Trailer is from Kenworth if you freeze the film @ the right time you can read it.+ they missed the License Plate + they didn't paint the Interior RED

I’d like this in 1/87 scale
It was actually a comet that caused the trucks to drive themselves.
Yes thats right
It was the comet but the ending (spoiler alert!) implied aliens were involved as a UFO was said to be shot down by a Soviet "weather satellite" 2 days after the comet passed.
Awesome find and cool collection brother

Can you get the 1/43 scale truck driver from Duel 1971 please
I really want this
they are on ebay and other retailers
It would be neat if DCP does a diecast of the Snowman's Kenworth from Smokey & the Bandit (1977) someday.
Just go to keep wishing for it
@@a2zdiecast, what if they do a diecast of Patrick Swayze's Peterbilt from Black Dog?
It is a fifth wheel
It looked bigger in the movie.
The landing gear goes up and down like a screw.
