You MUST do this if you’re using an amp modeler! (Quad Cortex, Kemper, Axe FX, Helix, etc…)

    I have been doing exactly the same, I have a Carvin V3M head, and a Orange PPC112 cab, removed the V30 and put the F12-X200. I connected my Helix into the return of the amp loop and it sounds fenomenal. I also use a Bose S1 Pro as monitor in some gigs instead of amp and cab, it sounds better the IRs, but it does not have that amp in the room feeling. Both ways are amazing.

      @@gustavoloebel question, do you feel like the V3M’s power amp section (with tubes) is coloring the sound a bit? Overall I’m happy, but I want to try something like using a class D solid state power amp (like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage) into the speaker to see if the sound would be “purer”.

      @@BabaGhanoushMusic I have a Class D from Harley Benton (GPA-100) and it works well, but when I use the tube power amp from V3M the sound become alive and it feels much more real amp. Maybe the SD Powerstage could be closer to the tube nuances and feeling , but in my opinion the tube improves the signal in every aspect. Currently I'm also trying a new approach that is to use a preamp simulation, replacing the real tube preamp, and the cab is also a real one 1x12 cream back, so no impulse response too. This the best of both words, you continue flexible in terms of tone and have the real feeling of a tube amp. For FOH you can mic the creamback or send a XLR with impulse response added.

      @@gustavoloebel I was just thinking about ordering the GPA100 actually. Then again, I only want to try it out just for experimenting and to see if the tubes in my combo amp color the sound any more than the gpa would. Overall, happy with the tone but would like to see what happens.

    "Full Range FLAT Response" is what you're looking for.

    I use a Vox 10" Greenback Celestian speaker cabinet powered by a Mooer Baby Bomb power amp 30W . Sounds exactly like what I hear in my headphones does not color the sound at all

    the recto v30 IR sounded really damn cool through that celestion

    to bad those studio monitor manufacturers like barefoot, pmc. genelec or adam apparently never heard of those full range full response speakers.. I mean if they did, they would not produce those 3 way systems.. ;)

    The tube poweramp will colour the tone a lot, to get the best of the modeler you would need a flat ss poweramp

      @BabaGhanoushMusic  27 днів тому +1

      @@richo144 this in my opinion comes down to preference. Ola Englund and Rob Arnold recently compared tubes vs solid state power amps and again, just comes down to what works best for you.

      I know he's using a quad cortex, but in the fractal units, you can disable power amp modeling. Not sure how all that would react when you have no power amp modeling but are using an IR.

    no need really to change the speaker unless you hate it. run output of molder to fx return of tube amp and your done. you don't "have" to disable cab blocks as it sounds good with them as well.

      @BabaGhanoushMusic  27 днів тому

      @@MusicStillRules that’s the thing though, I hated the Marquee speaker and I wanted to be able to use my IRs. When you enable the cab blocks into a traditional guitar speaker, it sounds way too muffled
