I was watching your video, and wanted to mention an important fact for when you're out and about on your property to help you deal/protect yourself against cougars. If you take to loggers, you will learn that they paint eyes on the back of their hardhats. The reason for this is that cougars will not, usually attack from the front. They usually attack from the back, and go for the neck, hence why the loggers paint eyes on the back of their hardhats. Just an important piece of information for you to think about, especially if you're on your own.

If you bury the hose 48 inches Deep there will be less chance of it freezing up also let the end of the hose drip slowly. It worked for me for years

You might try marking the hose path so you can find it in the spring and so you know where to run the line to get to the summer creek. I'm thinking blazing the trees maybe with spray paint?

Greg, Katie we love your channel Diane and I. We now reside in the greater Montreal area. Keep your shins up. Take it one day at a time. The sacrifices will pay off in the long run. Sounds like preaching doesn't? But its true. Your hard work and perseverance are a testimony of your courage. Never forget, your dream is like a precious stone. It needs only shaping and polishing to reveal its beauty. By the way, congratulations on clearing your mortgage.👍 Tip; Next time, try warming up the plastic pipe with a torch to help remove the fitting.😉 36K, growing and growing...👏Oh! I almost forgot, even after 44 years, we still fight at least once a month. The secret is to not stay mad at each other when you go to bed.😊

They cost a little more than a regular back blade but they do a lot more different kinds of work. Mine is made by woods, model RB72, A lot of companies make them. Most back blades just tilt either left or right, This style back blade does 6 different functions.

I am out on the coast and here there are "trout worms" otherwise known as "red wigglers" or tiger worms. If you have time to set up a "worm farm" somewhere under a place away from snow/rain you could get a year round supply of the "best compost" without having to constantly turn piles of "cold compost". I have mine in the basement, and if I don't feed them animal products (dairy, meat, fish) or acidic foods (onions, citrus, garlic) they make excellent compost. Two plastic dark coloured tubs, one with the lid is all you need for equipment. Worms may be there under wood or leaf piles.

It was artesian and sprang up to 50'. The wells were in Washington state near Seattle a few hundred miles from you! Maybe you will soon find time to drill or dig. I think a backhoe can reach down near 40'. Congrats on your very nice build. Love the animals. Ron PTL USA

@@ThisOffGridLife You may possibly use a cistern fed by the small creek after filtering for drinking and coffee. When we lived in Texas, 1940's, the local water was gypsum and undrinkable but ok for crops. A windmill pumped well water into a large galvanized open tanks for livestock. The Drinking water was delivered and stored in a cistern for the house use and refilled when necessary. There were no flush toilets then for most people. Flush toilets are nice! You are doing well and learning much! Where there is a will, there is a way! Ron PTL USA now living in a small town in North Central Washington state.
