i had a problem with the download for windows photo viewer. i opened the restore windows photo viewer.reg file, clicked yes to the registry editor warning, but then i got a registry error message saying that it "cannot import the restore photo viewer file.error opening the file. there may be disk or file system error." did anyone else run into this problem?

Thank you, this worked for me. For whatever reason it would not download properly in firefox...would not download at all but downloaded okay in Chrome. When I ran it, Microsoft photo started working again so thank you.
So, I updated to Windows 10. I have the Windows phot viewer as my default but now when I click the middle slide show button it is no longer centered, no longer fits appropriately on the screen. Is this an issue with anyone else. Is there anything I can do?
In the newer versions of windows 10, photoviewer is no longer included. Also after the reg-edit. A great alternative is the opensource project ImageGlass.
I absolutely hate the Win10 photo app. The feature task bars are transparent but they still cover large sections of the photo that I want to look at. To see the full image without all the annoying crap in the the way I have to make several button clicks. Thanks for helping restore the simple and easy to use photo viewer.
i tried this but i cant make photo viewer open anything by default. It says it's on my computer but i cant search for it or find it. On the defaults it shows as being there, but it doesnt have the phot viewer image (it has a cross instead). Now it doesnt even show the windows photo viewer on it. Microsoft is supposed to do that automatically and for free. We must put pressure our governments to force all big companies to pay us back for our lost time.

1,000,000 Thanks!! I'm an artists and I use a lot of refs. The Photo App is TERRIBLE. And lately I can't even zoom in without the thing crashing. I got my Win Photo Viewer back now! I'm not sure why MS insists on forcing these new programs on people when half of the time they don't work properly.
Hey, bro, I do really appreciate your video and registry link this help me a lot as photo app is not colour management program and showed all my photos in different colours after I have done photoshop and I thought is a photoshop issue. after installing windows photo viewer back the problem solved and all colours was the same as I expected
Thanks for the tutorial! It didn't show up so I downloaded the .reg file you provided, and it added Windows Photo Viewer back onto my computer. Why change something that's not broken? That's why I went back to the good old Photo Viewer.

In the new version of Windows 10 you have to go to Apps instead of System. ^_^
Are you sure this is for Windows 10? Default programs in control panel looks completely different from your video, and Photo Viewer is not even there.
In the newer versions of windows 10, photoviewer is no longer included. Also after the reg-edit. A great alternative is the opensource project ImageGlass.
