I'm one of those who would like Sam to sing like before. But you have to understand something. He is a human being, not a robot, and this style of music begins to take its toll on your body and voice after so many years of shows, albums, tours, etc. Besides trying to market their music more these days one of the other reasons they do it is trying to find more comfort for Sam's voice. We already had enough of him in his best days of pure metalcore, now they give us what they can trying to sound like Architects, let's be realHe is one of the few who has managed to keep that raspy scream super high with those notes for so many years.

All I can say is that when he sang back in May in Boston his voice was on point so he is 100% tired. Hopefully he takes care of himself and they get to rest for a bit.
The only moment I enjoyed from this shitty live performance. I'm an Architects fan since 2010 but this live is horrible. Sam vocals are so weak, sound recording is bad, stage presence is lame ... I know people are touring a lot and everyone can be tired some day ... I hope they will put better live show in the future
Here's my 2 cents as a vocal nerd: 1. Their music in general is really tough to perform - it can be done safely with good technique, but it's a HEAVY workout. 2. Voices can change over time. It's been almost 8 years since All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. That's more time than there was between Hollow Crown and All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. 3. They play hourlong sets - when I saw them in Munich they played 25 songs. That's hard for vocalists and nearly impossible if you're going 100% on every show. If you wanna go 100%, you need more rest days or shorter sets. That might also be why the Royal Albert Hall sessions were so amazing - because he didn't have to perform the next day so he could just go all out. TL, DR: Not going 100% on every song, every night and adapting as your voice naturally changes is a healthy choice, if you wanna maintain a workable voice as a performer. (Also Josh was elite on guitar and backing vocals sicne he is an experienced frontman himself. Of course it's gonna be tough to fill those shoes.)
I kinda share your opinion on that. From what I've heard over the past years, Sam has some difficulties with some types of vocals (mainly the old ones) but the way he adapts and find new techniques and hit different notes, sometimes even more difficult, is fascinating to me
I love how you called Josh an Elite guitarist, cause he is, and so Tom was. That makes me think of the signature Architects kinda used to have and that’s the complex guitar work. A job only Elite guitarists like Tom and Josh could get done. I guess the band’s going to remain with that position empty.

It just seems like he can't handle his screams and mixes here (Hereafter as a great example). Cleans are decent but his new style that has a completely different vibe from the studio version... Nah. Every "bleeding out like a devil in disguise" phrase in Giving Blood ends in Sam dying out of notes. I mean it is a style but why? Why use it here? This style doesn't belong here imo...
I'd disagree, his lows are very basic false chord growl almost everybody can do with minimal practice, his low screams he used to do back in the days sounded much more interesting
Idk my theory is that he tryied to switch to a different screaming/distortion technique and it didn't go well. Maybe he was brainwashed by some shitty vocal coach that his technique was dangerous though it reallt wasn't.
He talked about having issues a few months ago, my guess is that as he evolved in clean singing he has been struggling with the way he used to scream, he said he is currently working with a coach. He’s been sounding amazing this tour, this wa probably an off day
@@alonehades100 I mean, the screams sound good and all, but his high cleans sound weird, like in Seeing Red, but i do hear a difference in his cleans in general, not bad necessarily.
I've wondered this last year, I'm not sure. He's definitely dying his hair brown though. If he'd had a transplant you'd think his hairline would be further forward, but it's overall looking thicker. Hard to tell.
People hating on sam's vocals don't get how vocals work :D Live will always be different than studio, and he actually sounds good here, its just that his technique is different that it was once. His higher pitched singing is more comparable to some older metal bands. It's still on point. note wise its pretty good too. maybe it sounds a bit thin, but im pretty sure that also has to do with the recording.. you can't really encapsulate the real feal of a live recording with such a recording, but tbh this is one of the best live performance videos ever
To add to that, the person making the video seems to have gone the distance and actually removed most noise from the crowd, which overlaps some frequencies in the vocal. however that makes the video better so its completely fine
@@Rednax_Official I agree, I've been to two concerts in the last 12 months and his voice is much better live than in many UA-cam videos. I have no idea why that is

nothing wrong with the performance or vocals. It's a live show, it's never gonna be perfect, also these outdoor festival videos always sound like this with the mix all over the place
Gneuu gneuuu gneuuu, The performance is very good, it's just that it's made to make it's way through a sound system that is not what we have at home. Same for letting the audience sing it is unpleasant only for those who listen out of context. Go propose something else or better, and come back afterward
@@Dysilik no way this is the cope; how is the only time people are blaming the sound system is when the actual performance blows, while there are so many amazing soundboard performances, even Architects pre-covid were amazingly mixed and all that my thing is that sam sounds straight up bad on the highs for a long while now, and them touring ts still doesn’t let him either address anything, or even rest. i saw them a ton of times pre-, and like twice post- covid, and there was a noticeable change between the vocals, 2019 Sam was probably the biggest force of nature I’ve ever heard, but this isn’t it dude
Vocal processor. Corrects pitch in real time. You can set the speed / percentage of voice correction manually. That’s how it sounds if you use it on screams as well and not just on clean vocals. Nobody is talking about it and it’s hilarious. He is a great singer, but his sound technicians shouldn’t encourage real time pitch correction for screams, it will always sound weird due to their baggage of harmonics. They “should” use it only on clean singing and set it with a bit less speed / pitch correction …he occasionally sounds like “travis scott” which for sure is not the sound they’re aiming for when it comes to an Architects live performance (vocally).
Sam is killing it and singing for his life, is it perfect ? Of course not, nobody is, but that's the beauty of performing live. Other people put that shit on tracks and call it a day. Nothing but respect for these guys.
TLDR for all the vocal people: Back in january Sam told us at the show in Denmark, that he for some months have had Mental issues and breakdowns that has effected he's vocal range and performance to a degree where he dosnt feel confident to perform live. He got a vocal coach to help him and pushes through shows to keep the flame of the band alive.
There are a LOT of comments about Sam's vocals. I will happily jump in to defend him. They've been touring a lot, newer stuff goes back to the heavier vocals, but I don't think this is the issue. Sam has guested on some killer live stuff throughout 2023 and 2024 and nailed it every time (Spiritbox Yellow Jacket being a good example) To me he just sounds tired and like he's over done it. I also felt like his cleans were stronger than years ago. My only wish is that Metal bands stop using autotune live. Architects, Bad Omens (all the fucking time) - Please just perform live...

Oh god, they should just really take a break... At this point, it´s just sad. Avoiding all the screams, all the harder songs, pointing the mic towards the audience half of the gig, walking around as if someone forces you to be there. I love their music, even their newer pieces, understand the evolution and am really happy that he, hopefully, feels better mentally, but at the moment, I´m not so sure they are worth seeing live (saying this as someone who saw them some months ago).
Do you think is because of the touring musicians, cause I think someone else is playing drums? I think also the guitarist are touring musicians, but I don’t get the same vibe like the other concerts
It’s sad to see, I saw them in 2017 in a small theatre and they were one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. Sam Carter even came out and did security for Stray from the Path because the security guards gave up and we’re letting kids crowd surf over the barrier and land on their backs
I saw them in Chicago in May and he was way more into it and sounded so much better. Love sam, but I think they need to get him a vocal coach or a new one
Their sound has changed a fair bit but, I still love them. Too much negativity out there now. It’s a reflection of life stages. They can’t keep making the same album. Spread love for the good ones ❤
Sam used to be one of the best allround singers but this sounds terrible. Clean singing covered in auto-tune and multiple vocal layers. No mid screaming and just terrible highs. They really need to take break and let him fully recover. I'm gonna see them at a festival in a few days and not looking forward at this point 🫤

It's the middle of festival season and also no josh on backing vox with not being in the band any more!
The sound was awful overall at graspop so dont get discouraged.
Also sound at Graspop festival in person and on video is always shit
It just seems like he can't handle his screams and mixes here (Hereafter as a great example).
Cleans are decent but his new style that has a completely different vibe from the studio version... Nah.
Every "bleeding out like a devil in disguise" phrase in Giving Blood ends in Sam dying out of notes. I mean it is a style but why? Why use it here? This style doesn't belong here imo...
go watch other videos. Everyone has bad days, he usually sounds great.
His lows sound good, high screams not so good but sometimes on recordings they don’t sound anywhere near as good as being there in person
eso
When there he sounds epic. I watched some vids back I took last show I went to and was like eww. These do sound extra odd though.
I'd disagree, his lows are very basic false chord growl almost everybody can do with minimal practice, his low screams he used to do back in the days sounded much more interesting
He's probably using a different technique with the lows, he should learn how to do mid screams with the same technique he's using for lows
Is that dan on drums?
I feel like this video doesn’t make Sam justice. I’ve seen them at every date on the Metallica tour and his voice live is so fkn good! Top front man.
What the hell happened to his voice, man.
I have no idea, but he might have been sick or something at this show. I just saw them last month and he sounded phenomenal then
Idk my theory is that he tryied to switch to a different screaming/distortion technique and it didn't go well. Maybe he was brainwashed by some shitty vocal coach that his technique was dangerous though it reallt wasn't.
He talked about having issues a few months ago, my guess is that as he evolved in clean singing he has been struggling with the way he used to scream, he said he is currently working with a coach. He’s been sounding amazing this tour, this wa probably an off day
@@alonehades100 I mean, the screams sound good and all, but his high cleans sound weird, like in Seeing Red, but i do hear a difference in his cleans in general, not bad necessarily.
he is normally really good , bet he was sick or something .. his screams were off
Graspop sound engineer challenge: make the kick audible (impossible)
Dear God… SAM , Take a fucking Break… ur Voice is BRUTALY DAMAGED !
Does anyone know if Sam had a hair transplant?
I've wondered this last year, I'm not sure. He's definitely dying his hair brown though. If he'd had a transplant you'd think his hairline would be further forward, but it's overall looking thicker. Hard to tell.
i love architects, but gotta admit some of Sam's screams sound pretty bad now... his low and his singscream are still fire tho haha
so happy they're getting the success right now, they deserve it so much.
i was there and it was fucking sick
@@ViolaDennisyou’re coping hard there buddy
@@mutatednut aight
His screams is far from his best.
It sounds like he has a cold.
they sound really bad on video but they were amazing irl
@@Rednax_Official I agree, I've been to two concerts in the last 12 months and his voice is much better live than in many UA-cam videos. I have no idea why that is
I guess his voice is just tired. Sam needs a vocal rest asap
Yeah, when I saw them in Boston few months ago he admitted he didn't sound his best
dang sam is getting older.... some of these vocals are pretty bad. (hereafter for example)
Can't miss the turning point vocal notes at 30:15 , perfect pitch! Must had some fatigue or else before that obviously
. Top10 anyways since Qc City show at l'agitée. Such a small venue looking back. Greatest HC breakdown ever at These Colours Don't Run, everyone went apeshit ahaha
RIP
nothing wrong with the performance or vocals. It's a live show, it's never gonna be perfect, also these outdoor festival videos always sound like this with the mix all over the place
Also, a lot of people in here should read the lyrics of Seeing Red.
@@Dysilik oh yeah its the songs concept to be performed like ass vocally lmao
Gneuu gneuuu gneuuu,
The performance is very good, it's just that it's made to make it's way through a sound system that is not what we have at home. Same for letting the audience sing it is unpleasant only for those who listen out of context.
Go propose something else or better, and come back afterward
@@Dysilik no way this is the cope; how is the only time people are blaming the sound system is when the actual performance blows, while there are so many amazing soundboard performances, even Architects pre-covid were amazingly mixed and all that
my thing is that sam sounds straight up bad on the highs for a long while now, and them touring ts still doesn’t let him either address anything, or even rest.
i saw them a ton of times pre-, and like twice post- covid, and there was a noticeable change between the vocals, 2019 Sam was probably the biggest force of nature I’ve ever heard, but this isn’t it dude
In any case you make the song really better.
9/10
If you had commented "R.I.P" it would have been a perfect note.
Get a break band 😊
it was a cloudy day, suddenly the sun appeared during DOOMSDAY. I believe in destiny.
Sam has guested on some killer live stuff throughout 2023 and 2024 and nailed it every time (Spiritbox Yellow Jacket being a good example)
To me he just sounds tired and like he's over done it. I also felt like his cleans were stronger than years ago. My only wish is that Metal bands stop using autotune live. Architects, Bad Omens (all the fucking time) - Please just perform live...
I mean his screams got him to this point. Screaming the way he does will eventually wear your voice off a lot. He needs some rest.
Sam carter Aka- Oliver from bmth rip off, kpop bts member and modern day lesbian popstar! Congrats guys youre now woke.... round of applause 👏👏👏👏👏❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍 cant wait for you guys next album when you become hip hop rapper wannabes 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sounds great in my opinion, it's not easy to put your voice through what he does every night and to be pulling off screaming and singing for an hour , voices change with age also
God, his high screams sound awful now
THIS IS F*CKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!
For the band's respect i would delete this video
Why did the show stop while playing Seeing Red?
Oh god, they should just really take a break... At this point, it´s just sad. Avoiding all the screams, all the harder songs, pointing the mic towards the audience half of the gig, walking around as if someone forces you to be there. I love their music, even their newer pieces, understand the evolution and am really happy that he, hopefully, feels better mentally, but at the moment, I´m not so sure they are worth seeing live (saying this as someone who saw them some months ago).
Interestingly enough, they played All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us the night before at Full Force Festival in Germany.
On the other points I agree.
Do you think is because of the touring musicians, cause I think someone else is playing drums?
I think also the guitarist are touring musicians, but I don’t get the same vibe like the other concerts
@@luissilvadrummer Those are all official members. The band just sucks now
It’s sad to see, I saw them in 2017 in a small theatre and they were one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen.
Bring me The Architects
Build Me The Horizon
Architect Me The Horizon
Imagine going through this setlist and that voice at the same time.
I'm gonna see them at a festival in a few days and not looking forward at this point 🫤
they peaked at lost together lost forever now its bring me the horizon dad rock lol
This video is great but I was there and there are so much heavier than what this video can show
Such amazing live performers
I love architects and always will but this just doesn't sound good.
Sam is an elite vocalist for a decade. Not that much can stands tall aside, but time flows, voice changes, get tired, could possibly be modified, plus if you're keep challenging it over and over like he did. Hard to admit his performance is very poor right there. But I do trust deeply in Jordan Fish. He actually transformed a trash shit singer like Oliver Sykes into a great one, adapting production, learning him how to warm up and rest daily. Sam will be back at his peak soon, trust the process
It is getting sad. They need naysayer
I saw them on february and Sam high screams were so good, but now they're so far from good
Doing doomsday with all clean vocals is diabolical. He cant go all in for one song in the set that deserves it
Thumbnail looked like christian lindner lol
Any band that has to ask for a circle pit or a wall of death doesn't deserve one.
LOZZZZZ
Terrible mixing and mid performance is a bad combo.
Oque aconteceu ? Cadê a energia de cantar e tocar como se fosse o ultimo dia na terra? Estou chocado com a performance decadente. Bons tempos....
Whut 2:05 🧐
Josh should've stay in the band
What the fuck happened to this voice?
