Being impressed by the version of Placido Domingo, I have to admit that this is much better concerning the effortlessness of his voice. It gives me goosebomps all the time even in the lower parts and I´m no opera fan at all. But sometimes something very special happens when talent crosses the love for music. You and your sense for music made my day! A great gift ,a great tenor and a great thankyou from Germany!
His voice reminds me of Caruso more than other more recent Tenors.
Yes, I saw him live and his voice is beautiful and effortless.

I saw this great tenor in concert recently and he was truly outstanding and very personable with the audience. I am a huge huge fan now. I'm looking forward to more great performances in future.
He never has to strain, even in the highest notes, it always sounds like he has plenty of reserve power. My favorite tenor for this aria is the young (pre-illness) Carreras, but this version is right up there too.

I am very lucky to come across the singing of this song by a Maltese tenor ,His voice is so clean,effortless and the voice is so touchy and expressive. BRAVO

@@Knightoftheorient Jonathan Antoine has a great voice but sings like an amateur. But he is only 21. For sure in a future he sings much better.

This was an excellent rendition, not too nasal that sometimes obscurs the beauty of his voice.
My favorite tenor for this aria is Placido Domingo. We are lucky to have such talented, new opera singers like Joseph Calleja. Bravo!

He has a sound very similar to Caruso's. Which is probably the greatest compliment that could ever be given.
If you prefer Caruso, in my opinion he sounds better...
@@SinaHuber I agree with you. However, most professional tenors believe that Caruso was among the greatest, if not THE greatest. I'm sure Calleja would take it as a great compliment to be compared to Caruso.
The true successor to JUSSI BJORLING. Joseph has the finest Tenor voice in Opera today. Trigger-warning! Probably comes from his mix of Maltese/English ancestry!!!

My grandafther became a hermit after that inear ssissi,CHAI.

Irgendwas an dem Timbre stört mich. Auf der anderen Seite wäre ich froh über solch einen Cavaradossi, wenn ich die nächste Tosca sehe - und nicht wieder irgendeinen Gatten einer russischen Primadonna oder sonstwen aus der Kategorie "wer soll es denn sonst machen?" hören muss.
