Kayreen, I am a 15-year Bilateral Invasive Triple-Negative Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer survivor, who is touched by your post because I have such gratitude for your dedication to my survival.
All my life, nurses have played a big role in my life. As an adult, cancer showed me that oncology nurses are the best of the best.
To thank you for your work as a research nurse, here is a little about the oncology research I’ve benefited from:
1) I was one of the first patients in the specialized breast MRI machine, to position a wire locator, pre-lumpectomy.
I’m still amazed at the brilliant idea of wiring the breast so the surgeon can just follow the wire, remove the tiny tumour at the end of it, without even having to identify the tissue visually. It was cancer. That tissue is now in our provincial registry, being used for research.
2. Three chemo drugs x 6 mos. I know that people with no hope of survival volunteered to participate in double-blind studies, not knowing if they would get the drug or the placebo. And you are their nurse. And I’m alive because of you both.
3. Finally, skin-saving bilateral mastectomy after genetic work-up & strong recommendation from Geneticist.
As it turned out, I decided against reconstruction but, because of research, it was an option for me. (I couldn’t handle the idea of foreign stuff in my body after all that.) So much more goes into protocol research, too… And there’s so much more that’s beyond my knowledge.
On a very personal note, I thank you because I have experienced and spread deep hope and great joy since then. I hope the same for you and your soul.
About the harp…
The harp used to help me with pain control and my need for comfort during the awful bits, including the wire location, which was very interesting but not much fun. 😉

Not gonna lie, I'm a pretty negative person. I can't break the habit of being mad at things and being in cycles of stress. Most of these comments I think are a little fluffy and ridiculous, but reading yours made me tear up for some reason. It's crazy to think that people can push positive vibes just as hard as I push negative ones, and I'm sorry for thinking it sounds silly. We need more people like this.

As I have listened to this for probably well over an hour now, it's really sinking into me, lifting me up, and I'm finding it very special. It's shifting me in a way that's allowing me to move freely in improvisational movements for therapy for my stiff and aching body. It's causing something to happen that's allowing me to do what I normally can't do. The more I do it the more therapeutic it is! Releasing tense muscles & fascia (neck, arms, back, hips).
It's really very unique, the spirit of your improvisation is coming through and this suddenly just happened for me as I've been listening to this and doing little chores and eating around in my room. Then suddenly I began being able to fluidly dance and release this tension. I just can't thank you & appreciate you enough, Nature's Spirit!
I send you good energy and pray that I shall become employed again since I lost my job/profession bc of covid, so I can join & donate to you & your work.

I had a strange evening today. I received a text from a person with whom I once dreamt of sharing my whole life. Because of whom I spent 6 years trying to recover and maintain my mental health and my whole life. I'm still in the process of healing. He got married this year to a wonderful lady. I knew he got married, I just didn't wanna believe that. We had casual conversation. Very normal. By chance we both were having coffee at that time. We talked about random series, life in general and I ended the conversation with "very refreshing to share a cup of coffee and thoughts with you."
It indeed was. Only thing I actually died inside. The 'life in general' and 'normal conversation' was just the mask I had to put on. I stayed strong and sane until I found your video. I feel the music is telling me to go on and cry a bit. Go and get a little weak. Let your heart feel the pain because it knows how to heal.
I am in a very happy and stable relationship with someone else. Madly in love once again. But that one person.... after all these years... he gets me weak to my knees.

Do it 😊 I am old now and I didn't do it, I'll let the cares and survival issues of life keep me from learning to play the harp. Don't do as I did! I wanted to start off with a small practice heart and I had the chance to but I kept trying to focus on my responsibilities and survival but I could have been playing the hearts along the way! So let that be an inspiration to you as you float the river of your life, pick the harp up or whatever else you want to do and don't delay, flow into it? 😊🙏🌿🌼❣️
Harp take some physicality and fitness, some loose young muscles to learn. It's not exactly an easy or possible thing to learn once one becomes stiff and old. But if one learns something and learns it body and muscle memory heart and soul, it will often be possible to continue doing it well into old age! So start when you can while you are fluid and flowing in able to enjoy, I'll learn it and make it become part of your muscle, energetic and brain memory!
I'm a singer and I've been singing since I was very young, practicing a lot and pouring my heart and soul into it. So I can still sing beautifully! and in emotionally moving ways - because I started early in life. It became part of me, and we don't lose what becomes part of us early on.
