      Here's a stupid question... How much is 150g of flour in cups? Recipes that measure by weight drive me batty. Sigh...

    • @vutesaqu
      @vutesaqu 7 років тому

      Kathy_In_Carolina a cup of spelt flour is about 115-120g i believe, so around 1¼ cup to 1⅓ cup

    Years ago I asked my boyfriend to make me a vegan cake for my birthday and he made this recipe. Our tradition is to make each other a special dessert for each others birthday since we met. It was so good, I was blown away! He makes it every year now and we call it my birthday cake :) Bravo on such a great and simple recipe and thank you for making it so accessible! ❤️

    Try using applesauce in placement of half the oil.. to make it less fatty and applesauce will make it even more fudge-like!

    I made this and it is my favorite chocolate cake ever! I absolutely love it. What a great recipe. And making the chocolate icing was really fun. I had to try that twice too, the first time I added too much water to my chocolate chip but then the second attempt actually worked. Thank you!

    This cake is delicious. I did add an egg & got a 2&1/4" rise, but it doesn't effect that dedicate chocolate nutty almond flavor. Also in all my chocolate cakes & icings I add 1/4 tsp ea. of Cinnamon & instant coffee to enhance the chocolate flavor. Great recipe everyone should try.

My boyfriend and best friend (both not vegan) absolutely loved it, and it's almost all gone already 🙈😂 I was so surprised at how good it taste, and how easy it was to smash it! I would 100% recommend giving this a try!

I cheated a wee bit though ~ I didn't want to have to wait for an hour or so for it to bake and then cool, so I divided the mixture into 12 Muffin cases ;) and by the time I'd washed everything up they were ready to eat and they were sooo yummy! :)

    Made this for my fiance's birthday. It was delicious but I ran into a couple problems. The cake stuck to the bottom of the pan for some reason, even though I greased it (maybe grease it really well, use a liner, or add flour?) The chocolate never got to mousse consistency, more like pancake batter consistency, even after stirring it for a good 20 minutes and putting it in the fridge. I added more melted chocolate and it became a little bit firmer, but chunky (didn't add more water). When I put it on the cake, it ended up being fine, but didn't look very pretty! It tastes amazing though, and I felt like the issues I ran into were relatively forgiving.

    Sifting doesn't make any difference.. when you start whisking the ingredients together, new lumps start forming which then have to be whisked away again.
    There was even research that it doesn't matter, if you sift it. The technique comes from former times, when little stones or insects could be found in the flour. The sifting was making sure that none of them wen into the dough.
