I learnt to fly here between 1977 & 79 in the then Sherwood Flying Club's Chipmunk G-BDBP. Instructors I remember from then were : CFI Len Stapleton, Peter Clarke, Bob Taylor ,Howell Williams, Steve Smoothy, Gordon Ferryman, Derek Murdoch and others. SFC members I remember from then : Gavin Forrest, Pete Simpson, Steve Perez, David Cook, Alan Clarke, Dave Owen, Katrina Dabell, Alwyn Tansley, Peter Smart and others.

That’s very interesting, thanks for sharing. A bit before our time. We first based our aircraft (then a Jabiru XT) in 1998, returning with the current Europa XS after a short spell at a farm strip. EGBN is a great little airport and certainly an asset to the Nottingham area. Unfortunately, a view not shared by the short sighted Nottingham city council. Regards, Stephen

i was there yesterday with my mum and youngest son, had a co-pilots breakfast and a couple of latte's, and booked my trial flight at sherwood flying club

@@stephenpercy54 Thanks, my mums worrying lol, but im looking forward to it, i have been on lots of airliners in the past, but no light aircraft, i always wanted to be a pilot, im 40 this year, so i dont think i will be young enough to do this as a career, so it would mostly be for fun so to speak
