When I started this channel back in 2020, I wanted to make tiny music videos while I travelled, and needed my setup to be as light as possible. So today I wanted to talk about the best camera gear that I think can get you started in making DAWless jams or cinematic travel videos.
If you’re on the fence about what gear to get to start your DAWless journey on Instagram or UA-cam, I hope this gives you a little more information on where to begin!

This video was crazy useful, super well done and concise.
The fact that it doesn't have more views is CRIMINAL!

I have an M50, and my fave lens for it is a 22mm pancake - for the same reasons you listed for your pancake lens! I find the shallow DOF really nice especially when in low light, with lots of blinking LEDS or screens from synths lol. And then a Zoom h1n to record. For a while I took the easier route, used a Roland Go mixer with my phone to capture video + audio directly for Instagram and such, but it definitely feels (and looks) better when I properly frame a camera around my gear. I've always had a mirrorless camera for personal stuff because form factor (i.e. small and portable) is most important to me - but this SL3 looks pretty darn good. Really nice video!

I had no idea they made a pancake for the M50!! I bought my dad an M50 last year and got to play around with it a bit then. That little camera is a BEAST!!

Thank you. I learnt a lot from this. / Yes, dawless jammimg on a budget. I save my $AUS until the sales then go hard. Not foolproof as some brands, models and items never seem to be discounted. So I just have to be creative with what's available. Go well.

Just a bit of noob curiosity, how are you connecting your synths to the "mic in" for good audio? I've tried this from my mixer but have issues with volume between "audio out" and "mic in".

Great question Osidius! When I have issues with sound volume I go through my Zoom H2n, which has a built in mic gain to boost everything.
