Great reaction. Other great jazz guitarists, Herb Ellis, Barney kessell, Charlie Bird, Pat Martino. Jazz and fusion, John McLaughlin, Larry Cornell, Al DeMorola, Alan Holdsworth
Interesting, you mentioned Joe Pass playing for Ella, which he did. But sitting there, side stage listening to him was, Oscar Pettersen. It doesn't get more impressive than that. Joe Pass is my favourite jazz guitarist.. Somone from an entirely different genre, you might find very interesting, is Brazillian Yamandu Costa. There are heaps of wonderful classical guitarists in the world now. I'd recommend looking at Xuefei Yang.
Some jazz guitar players approach it more like a piano, others more like a horn. Joe's the apex of the former, and his horn-like aspects ain't no slouch either, as you can see. As a bebop guitar player you spend your life looking up at Joe. You can see farther up the mountain as you grow yourself, but there's always more. Long live the king.
Fun video, but now you need to react to another legendary guitarist, the Irish legend Rory Gallagher. He was a guitarist's guitarist and was a pioneer at wringing sounds out of his battered guitars in many different styles: rock, blues, country blues, even some jazz and flamenco style guitar work. For an introduction to his acoustic work, a great performance is the 1977 RTE One video of Pistol Slapper Blues/Too Much Alcohol.. He was a fluent player on both electric and acoustic guitar, as well as mandolin, electric sitar, harmonica and sax. Check out the many Rory videos on UA-cam from this amazing performer (self taught as well).
As a Country Artist I’m sure are aquatinted with Chet Atkins. You should be! Outside his country picking there is another world to discover. He delved into jazz , classical and popular music. But the show off piece would be playing Dixie and Yankee Doodle at the same time.
Wes Montgomery Pat Metheny George Benson Django Reinhardt Charlie Christian Kenny Burrell Stanley Jordan John McLaughlin Larry Coryell Alan Holdsworth Charlie Byrd John Scofield Al Di Meola Pat Martino Lee Ritenour Steve Kahn Kevin Eubanks Larry Carlton Eric Gale Earl Klugh Kurt Rosenwinkle Norman Brown John Pizzarelli
Subbed after Band Maid reaction, please check out Bill Frisell, maybe 'Gone, Just Like a Train' or 'Blues for Los Angelos'...and has played with many contemporary greats. Those two songs are audio only, so if not for your channel then for your pleasure.....I kindof veered into metal but one of my public playlist is 'jazz' (only a few songs) and has those two Frisell tracks ... the other is the best flugelhorn jazz creations by Herbert Joos...... enjoy
See the big black guy sitting...that's the best jazz piano player..ever..OSCAR PETTERSON
I think I enjoyed your genuine loving reaction to Joe’s playing as much as his astounding playing. Touching!
Finally someone reacting to the legend, the prodigy… He’s on the Mount Rushmore of Jazz
Wes Montgomery, self taught, very interesting style of playing...pure jazz
I’ll check him out thanks!
His neighbor complained about him practicing so he only used his thumb to keep the volume down
Al Di Meola and John McGlaughlin, two of my favs.
Tedd Green, Claudio Quartarone today's favourite.
Great reaction. Other great jazz guitarists, Herb Ellis, Barney kessell, Charlie Bird, Pat Martino. Jazz and fusion, John McLaughlin, Larry Cornell, Al DeMorola, Alan Holdsworth
Very open minded take on jazz guitar. Pass was amazing, my favorite in fact.
Joe was an absolute giant in the jazz guitar world.
There’s so much going in just one tune

The last album Joe Pass did was a Hank Williams album with Roy Clark

Even longer but if you like the song it's all good
Joe is a freak musician
Check out Danny gatton
Might as well add Allan Holdsworth to the list,if you don’t mind Jazz with some effects used.
How about a great female guitarist. She one of the best around, Mary Halvorson.
Yes! Can you share a link to what would be a good one to review?
