We did a no spend January that turned into a no spend year. We’ve paid off one cc this year and will pay off another two next year. We’ve cut every corner-including unplugging appliances not in use to help our electric bill. Living fine and should be debt free in 5-7 years.
Wow, Niki! I’m so impressed that you are doing a no spend year. I applaud you for that. I know it cannot be easy, but wow, the progress you are making! That’s amazing 🎉
Good health! If you and your family are not battling a chronic medical condition, you are financially blessed. Keep up with preventative care and avoid (as much as possible) high risk health situations. Once diagnosed, care and medication can be incredibly expensive and typically those costs only escalate with time. Don’t work hard your entire life to save for retirement so you can enjoy your precious time off only to end up too ill to relish it. Stay well, you’ll save thousands.
Hi Katie, great signs! Its easy to get discouraged when you see others doing better than you, but someone always will be lol. I think these tips can help put your situation into perspective. Not adding debt every month is a sign were doing okay! Even if we cant pay off hundreds of dollars from the debt we currently have each month! Im grateful were employed and can pay our bills on time bc so many ppl can not.
Good morning! ❤😊 One thing that I'm learning to pat myself on the back for (financially) : tracking expenses, checking my accounts at least weekly, noticing patterns in my own spending behavior & being honest about / addressing them. The amount of people I know who choose to bury their heads in the sand about finances or still do "retail therapy" despite their financial hardships is a bit too high.
Oh yes, tracking is so important!! That’s a good one. Ahh yes, retail therapy is too common. I have some family members who scare me often with some of their financial decisions. I know they are adults though, so I don’t say anything, but I always hope they’ll get on the right path.
You are so well spoken, katie! I loved this video. I also have watched Debt over it (Layla) since before she paid off her car... so many years ago. I've watched her turn her business income from under 1k a month to 3... 4 even 7 k a month at some points! She is amazing! As are you! You've come an incredibly long way in your journey as well. Thanks for sharing this with us. I know I hit a lot of these points you've mentioned and my husband and I have worked soooo hard to get to where we are now. Awesome video!❤
Well spoken? I have never heard that before, but I consider it a huge compliment. Thank you 🥰 I’m so amazed by what Leila has been able to accomplish. It’s so inspiring!
this was such a grounding video! with social media and everything, it’s so easy to get caught up with the numbers and comparing yourself to others who are in different financial situations. it’s important to take a step back and be proud of your own progress 🤍
So true! A few more to add, if you can afford to shop your values in some ways like getting organic produce or the “good” toilet paper. If you can afford some form of a hobby, whether it costs money or time, having extra of either is a blessing.
Both amazing ones! Yes, being able to buy quality food for your family is definitely a win, especially right now. And I never would have thought about having a hobby, but that’s so true! Being able to out your time toward something you enjoy is a luxury. Thanks for sharing, Rebecca 🧡
I love this video. Yay for looking on the positive side. Really good reminders to be thankful for the positive things in our lives. I have lived thru the high mortgage interest. When we first moved to this area in the early 90's, our interest rate with excellent credit was 10%. Yes, 10. So awful. We were able to refinance after a few years to a better but still not great rate. Happy to have a 2.5% rate on our current mortgage!!! Beyond grateful for that.
10%?!? I goodness I’m so glad you were able to refinance! And tbh at 2.5% probably feels even better after having such a high rate. I hope the current rates will be in their way back down soon 🤞🏼
Woot woot ! We are so blessed 🎉Katie … it was so much worse when our kiddos were little … we used to get collection calls and I hated the phone … it took a long time to unbury … and budget /DR saved us and changed our life ! To those out there who are struggling with CC debt there is hope !!!! Just becoming aware helps and keep watching content that encourages you ! Thanks Katie ! Glenda
It’s so wonderful that you came out on the other side, Glenda!! I’m so inspired by you, truly. I know others will read this and be inspired as well. Thanks for sharing 💕

great video you are right that what I just told hubby that even if we have to go back to paycheck to paycheck, we would be fine!
Sometimes you just have to focus on the good things that you can do ❤️❤️
Great message. No matter where you are on your journey, its important to acknowledge the wins!
Yes! I agree! It can get dark and lonely if you always worry about what you aren’t doing well enough. I’m always for celebrating the small wins 😄

I have 5 to 7 streams of income. The issue is that only four are stable and reliable.
Four stable steams of income is better than average though! I think that’s great 😄
