I'm in Southern CA as well! I've just been "chomping at the bit" to get a lot done out in my front yard as I have plans to re-pot/focus more on larger planters and make other changes. We're due for yet more rain tomorrow/Sunday, then hopefully I'll have some time without rain and/or wind to really be productive. Thank you for another great video!

Hello fellow SoCal garden friend! Thank you so much for your very kind comment. I was so happy to see your post on this new video. Yes, it's raining right now, but it looks like we'll have some sun this afternoon. I love the rain, but I so badly want to get after some other projects like you have planned. Really, one of the best things about having this channel is being able to connect with such a great community of fellow home gardeners like you. Thanks so much and have a fantastic day in your yard.... after the rain. :)

Hello! I live in Southern California as well. I wish I had your wonderful Yard! It is so tidy and well thought out. The plants are the icing on the cake, and they are beautiful. I like the ball topiary boxwood. How do you know when shrubs are planted too close to the cement block wall? I am concerned about roots undermining the integrity of the wall which is the issue I’m facing.
I am digging out the flower bed in my patio because it had too many plants in it. Every square inch of soil had something planted in it. There was no room for things to grow properly and lots of roots to take out! Now I am leveling it to make it a useable part of the patio. Then I will plant dichondra in it because I don’t have enough pavers to finish it off. All my plants (lemon trees, etc. ). are in pots. I have not had the luck you have had with the supertunias. I am told that Proven Winners ‘Pink Cashmere’ verbenas are beautiful and you might want to try those.
    Happy Saturday!

Hello there Sheryl. So glad you stopped by to comment. Thank you for your most kind compliments. I'm so glad you liked the topiaries. I do too. I love that structure in the yard. As for the ones in the ground by the wall.. they've been in there for years and even before we moved in over 17 years ago. It seems like they're fine and the wall is good. The main trunk for each isn't that large and as long as we keep them in check, they won't get too overgrown at the base.
I love hearing about your project in your yard. Sound like you have great plans. I'm sure it will be a big change to have all that space by removing all that. I think that using the dichondra is a great idea. It's going to look great. Yeah, I have many containers too. In fact, I feel like I will need to repot the lime that I have planted in the container in between my raised beds. That soil really has compacted an it could use a refresh.
It's so funny that you mentioned the new "pink cashmere" I actually ordered some for my front planter. I am so excited about getting them. I've grown many varieties and they've all been amazing. I can't wait to see how this new variety does in the garden this year. I will be sure to share a video when I get them and plant them. You have great taste in plants indeed. :)
Thanks again for stopping by. Have a great day and happy gardening. 🌿🌿🌿

Hey Ronn thanks for another great video! I was noticing your variegated pittosprum shrubs at 3:01. I also have some very mature pitts that have developed some dead zones. Jesus at Armstrong Garden Center said it looked like scale and I have started treating for that. Over the last few years, I have lost three other Pittosporum to the same disease. if you like those shrubs where they are located, you might wanna look into that.

Hey there Heather! Thanks so much. You are so right. Actually I have two things going on. I feel like scale is part of the problem to the right of the shot but the area most near the garage wall (to the left) has gone bare due to the fact that I usually have a hanging basket that drapes way down with trailing plants and that chokes out the sun and it has naturally died back, As for the scale, it's really only recently been a problem and I fear that I might have to eventually take action as you suggested or even take them out completely. Also I've spoken to Jesus at Armstrong too about other things and he's always gives great advice for sure. Love that place. Have a good one and take care. 🌿🌿

I was just telling another viewer from SoCal that one of the best things about having this channel connecting with such a great community of fellow home gardeners like you all. Even though I've been gardening for a long while, I'm still learning too. No matter where you are in your experience, we're all trying to do the same thing....learn and enjoy gardening. I was thinking that same thing. I moved here to SoCal almost 1 year ago. It is very different here and learning from Gardening with the Williamses has really helped to find beautiful plants that do well here! A gardener that watches UA-cam never gardens alone!

Hello there. We are here in SoCal zone 10a. The lemon gets 6+ hours of sun per day. It really loves it in that spot. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by to comment. :)
