Last time I stood watching trains here was in the 60s then it was Hymeks,Warships Westerns, Castles, occasional Kings and Halls but nice to see the lovely scenery hasn’t changed much . Nice video !
Well Al in them days all the trains were proper trains, not like today when they are a lot shorter and less of them. Thank you for checking out my video. Regards Mike.
Always a great location. I well remember the days when Summer Saturdays were a procession of loco hauled trains from all over the country. The 31's used to double head a rake of WCML Mk 3s on a Manchester - Paignton and return. For a while there was also a working from Brighton with a 33. Now the HST's are as good as it gets, although a very welcome sight. Oh and that guy on the bike was impressive, if I did that I'd brake half the bones in my body!
Alan you again reminded me of the great days we had when visiting this area on a summer Saturday 40 odd years ago. I used to drive down there and back sometimes, and yes that guy on the bike was a strong guy. Regards Mike.
Mid eighties summer Saturday ,the amount of traffic incredible ,even saw triple headed class 50 running light towards Plymouth and then als 125 sets I believe in swallow livery ,at that time there was some parcels traffic as well, and overnight holiday maker trains running to Newquay .china hoods and the sleepers sometimes running light ,at Dawlish on the sea front was the cafe within trays of tea to take away in white China tea sets ,happy days ,youngest one always said “I want to be a train driver when I grow up ,that’s what he is training to be now ,
What a great comment you have sent me Jeffrey, you give me all the same memories I had when visiting there on a summer Saturday, apart my son isn’t a train driver. ATB. Mike.
Did you Peter, I never get tired going to that area, although all the loco hauled trains have gone except the odd charter. Hope you had a good time down there in April. ATB Mike.
Judging by your vid selection I'd have to agree. Great for video work. I've seen various vids from here and all have been good . You done good here too as you got a good variety of passenger workings. Done well Mike
Dawlish is a lovely place Mike, I like heading there occasionally. Fantastic shots and captures there! Glad you caught these! Wonderful that! Amazing action and variety! Superb sounds and location! You did well there! Highly enjoyable stuff! Great stuff! Top class! No faults at all! Well done! Great work! The 150s and 43s were magnificent! Excellent detailing and camera work! A perfect example of why I recommend your excellent channel! Good editing and extra bits as well! Right next to the coast offers a great shot. Very nice indeed! Loooooooooooooved it! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Take care, have an awesome day and all the best! Jamie
No Tony it is not, all we have left now are these Castle Class HSTs and the odd charter if you are lucky when down there, and oh yes a chance of one or two freight a week.
One year travelled down on the summer Saturday Devonian to Dawlish from Leeds ,it stopped at Dawlish and the thing I remember was the 125 had a telephone on board ,you used some sort of plastic card ,both boys phoned their nana in Leeds ,I had a part time job at weekend with Gner and subsequent owners 125 sets used to be a pleasure to work on ,years later on holiday in Penzance our 125 set was cancelled and we had a pendelino instead ,awful ,all plastic, nice to converse with you.
Yeah them summer Saturday were always interesting as other TOC used to help each other out, don’t remember any of them trains you mentioned, but there was a virgin MK3 working the route most Saturday. Thanks again for making these interesting comments Jeffrey. Regards Mike.
Nice one Mike. I haven’t been out for a couple of weeks, as my wife and I have been suffering from a really nasty bout of covid. I actually went out early doors (04.45) with the dog and think I saw the tail end of the track grinder going through on Monday. The working was from Totnes to NY Exeter riverside. Hope you enjoyed your time at the warren Andy
Oh dear Andy sorry to hear you have both got that bloody virus, we have been lucky not getting it. Yeah Andy our three days in our dog friendly hotel was ok thanks You take care. ATB Mike.
@@antman09ful1 Thanks Mike, yes it’s something I’ve had the misfortune of having twice now and both times quite nasty. I expect you’ll be visiting the GWSR this weekend with the Deltic.
Like that a lot Mike👍How we took those West Country summer Saturdays for granted back in the day & how we would go back in a shot! Travelled on a IET yesterday, still dont think much of them give me a HST any day😎😎Keep 'um coming Mike.Regards Dave
Dave a very true statement that, but we can only dream of them days, The guy wants shooting who decided what comfort we should have on them IETs. Take care as that virus is coming again. Mike.
Well its these trains or nothing mate, and I like to get these Castle Class as I believe in the next timetable change they are going to use more of them plastic things.
My wife said we have seen him on them rocks before (think she's right), yes I think you said last year your family have a static caravan there, well have a good break Kev. ATB Mike.
I just love filming some trains along this stretch of line Ben, I was going down again in the 13 of this month but there is a rail strike now so I will have to sort another date.
Lucky people down there having all those lovely HST's to travel on! Is the atmospheric railway museum still open? It was well worth a visit. Also nice to see a simple wall separating the path from the track. Here in Bath at Sydney Gardens, the H&S zealots put a wire fence over the wall.
Don’t know about the museum mate, the new wall at Dawlish is higher which is not good. Them dummies who stick fence up where it’s not necessary wouldn’t if they had to pay for them. H&S is a growing disease mate.
Lovely video from a well visited part of the country. Glad you, Sue & Dolly enjoyed your few days away
I was planning another visit but there will be no trains the day I had planned.

Really nice video Mike. Superb location as well. Thanks for showing Mike.
I know its no where good as it used to be Colin, but it still draws me to film along that coast. Thank you for having a watch Colin. Mike.

I missed this video somehow, not receiving notifications.
Only 3 weeks until my fortnight at the Warren.
Oh yes I remember you saying you was going, I'm down that way on a rail tour in two weeks. Thanks for finding this video DS.
Nice footage, loved the cyclist on the rocks, I’ve been down here all week in Dawlish Warren

What a great comment Paul, you don’t see them rubbish trains in my videos.
@@antman09ful1 thank you, glad I'm not the only one who thinks they are rubbish
@@HSTPaul I agree with you that IETs are the worst intercity train and they must go to the scrapyard. HSTs and 91s are better.
