    Excellent overview of your new frames. Really like the option of the 5.5" frame. While I love my standard Apex frames running Kiss, your explanation of why the AOS V2 geometry is better for getting props out of view is compelling. I do have an extra Ultra fc that needs a home.
    Right now I'm building the AOS-7 to run iNav, love how much room there is for large batteries as compared to other 7" frames. Happy flying everyone. 🤓

    After I watched a couple of your videos, I decided to buy two of your frames AOS 5 O3 and AOS 7 O3. I upgraded to the DJI O3 system and unfortunately, the Iflight frames I have are not working with the large field of view of the O3 camera. However, I didn't make my decision to buy your frames solely on the FOV issue. The way you explain and show how much engineering consideration is behind at your frames sold me on it. @@ChrisRosser doesn't the apexDC have a squished X geometry that looks like a DC? Not hating - but impulse made a point that while it looks like a DC, the motors are still laid out on on the four vertices of an imaginary rectangle - which is squished X. Same as the regular apex, just all arms pushed further back along the body?

    • @craftedkwads

    So I bought this frame and ran BF4.3. Its on default pids and I lessen the filters sliders. Im using a Tmotor F7 55amp dji stack, Xing 2306 on gemfan 51777. This is a hell of a frame. I'm literally speechless. The fact that it was the smoothest frame I flown without tuning. I actually don't want to change a thing in BF lol juicy flips are clean. It is a very response frame, very crisp. It sounds crisp and sharp. The punch outs were solid, no stutters. I tried to create prop wash and it was a task. I'll full throttle burst in one direction then yaw spin 180 degrees and then full throttle burst out. Almost nothing on prop wash. Even coming out of hard dives were smooth. Motors were slightly warm. GREAT JOB CHRIS!!!

    Hi chris, I love your designs. I purchased the AOS 5 evo v1.2 from cncdrones and the hardware that came with it was completely wrong lol. I was missing sooooooo many screws and nuts. After measuring them ALL it seems they sent me the wrong hardware lol. Has anyone who ordered from them has had the same issue? I tried contacting them but still no reply. Also the machining of the carbon fiber parts was very bad. Lots of burs and chips that i had to clean up, and some of the screw holes were not wide enough that i had try to open them up a bit . Took my about an hour just clean them all up. I know its not your fault but there work is below standards i think.

    Hey Chris, you mentioned that the dji air unit might not work with a 30x30 stack in the AOS 5. Will the HD zero freestyle vtx work with a 30x30 stack in the middle? If not I’ll probably go up to the 5.5 but I’d prefer the 5. Thanks

      its a pretty tight fit. You will probably need a 20x20 stack in the middle

    I have a 5” 1.2 EVO and the jello on the DJI cam (old air unit) is evident. Where can I get those stiffer plates? The silicon alone does not work.

    Chris could you please share stock PID for the 5.5 v2 frame on Xing 2207 motors? Just put toogether all, but on "default" middle PID that drone flay like rock, and I got huge problem with propwash. I bought it from iFlight but unfortunetly they dont have any dump files on their Google Drive.

    I am planning to use the 5.5 Frame for mid range flights. (2-3 km) Is this way of connecting the antennas enough for this range? Or do you need an other way of connecting the antennas like a tpu mount so that it can have more angle?

    • @ChrisRosser
      @ChrisRosser  2 роки тому

      I haven't had any issues with range/penetration with mounting antennas to the arms. YMMV but there are antenna mounts for AOS frames on thingiverse. Anything for the AOS 5 or 5.5 will fit.

      Farins frames in Italy should be producing the frame soon and EU shops will have stock too.

    Nice looking frame! I have a sharkbyte/HDZero vtx, the TX5R.1 (the race vtx V1). It has 20 X 20 mounting but it's outer dimensions are 45mm in length and 27mm in width. Will this fit the AOS 5 V2? I would like to fit it in the back. Thanks for the help

      Depending on the size of the FC and ESC you may need to use the front stack rather than the centre but everything should fit.

    Got a question regarding fc used in quad shown here. Have you compared one gyro vs twin gyro fusion in terms of noise ? Does it really help as much as it is advertised?

    • @ChrisRosser
      @ChrisRosser  2 роки тому +1

      It doesn't help that much because most of the noise is real vibration from the motors that is picked up the same by both gyros. A frame with good vibration performance is more important.

      There are some good pictures on aos-rc.com. It looks tricky at first but it's actually very simple to put together in the end. If you get into trouble just drop me an email from the website. Best advice is to use thread lock and not to overtighten the screws. 👍

      I did consider it. For a 5" freestyle frame I really prefer 2 battery straps and that works best with the battery laid out lengthways. With a GoPro it's easier to get a central COG with a lengthwise battery for this geometry.

    NICE !!!!!
    I’m serious thinking I’m ordering mine now !!!!!
    I have a question I’m pretty sure I heard you say that you use the Iflight 20 x 20 F7 stack. Have you experienced any freezing of your FPV feed with the DJI goggles? The reason why I ask is because I’ve built a vista nebula pro with a 20 x 20 T motor stack I use the 55 amp Tmotor ultra ESC and the F7 20 x 20 HD Tmotor flight controller. I was getting video freezing after flips and rolls occasionally very sporadically I install a 1000 UF capacitor and a fat techs bike absorber and I’m still getting video freezes on rare occasions and then switch to flight controller to the Aikon F7 20 x 20.
    I am still getting the same result. I’m next going to attempt installing a 35 V 370 UF capacitor on my Vista unit I don’t know what else to do. I was thinking it might’ve had something to do with the BEC on most 20 x 20 flight controllers ?
    I run 5&6 cell 2306.5 GepRC motors Mark 4 frame.

    • @ChrisRosser
      @ChrisRosser  2 роки тому +1

      I've never had freezing of the video on fast flips and rolls I'm afraid. It will either be ESC/Motor related, a loose cable or faulty vista/camera. It's pretty hard to figure out what if it's only intermittent.

    • @fpvraver
      @fpvraver 2 роки тому

      @@ChrisRosser well that is a good thing.
      Do you run your vistas on 6S? Also is your esc and flight controller 20x20 ?

  • @christhorney
    @christhorney Рік тому

    i dont understand how the spike absorber protects the esc's, when the voltage spike is coming from the motors up into the esc then out of the esc into the battery, so the spike absorber would be "protecting" the battery not the esc, because the esc is going to see the voltage spike unless you have the absorber between the motors and the esc. or am i missing something in my logic?

  • @waldemarkraus2855

    Hi Chris, how about designing a AOS 9 ?? There are absolutely no good frames on the market in this size besides the Merica 9. I tried many of they and they resonate horribly at low frequencies (~65hz).Only the Merica 9 has nearly no frame resonance, but it´s a typical true X racing frame. The macro quad community needs something with top mounted battery for freestyle and long range optimized for low resonance. A 9 or even 10 inch looking like the AOS 7 or 5 would be dope. I know, there are not many people out there flying these machines, some love would be great.
