I studied at Loyola Rome in August 1969. No crowds and the people were dressed out of respect for that beautiful city. I shall never forget it. This looks like the Day after Christmas sale at the mall !!
Shame, i had a good time there a few years back and was thinking of going down there again soon but this turns me off. Not even 30sec in and you have the usual hawkers. And now i know why the hotel prices are insane in may.
I am here now and too many people. Vatican was packed. Better get tickets online. Don’t come if you don’t have a ticket and don’t try coming with a stroller! Or small child… you will be trapped by all the people. I saw a young lady trying to push a wheel chair yesterday. Moving only inches and nobody moves for her, so much to look at that they kept hitting ankles. Unavoidable. Love the museums and artwork!
Che medaglia Roma piena di storia e molto affascinante , sono stato in moltissimi posti all estero ma non ho mai visto una città bella e importante come Roma❤ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The first time I went to Europe I flew into Rome and visited the house of Keats and the Protestant cemetery. I sure dont remember so many tourists though. Maybe off season is the best time to travel there.
I’m here now. It was packed at the Vatican! I got tickets online. Went yesterday. And it got hot outside. 76 but felt hotter… beautiful museums but made mistake and did not book with it St Peters Basilica. Thought was all included. Gardens either. But it was 4 hrs in there…and no way out once in line…
How do you stand the enormous crowds? November was a fabulous time. Thank you for bringing back so many beautiful memories through your walks. It's such a special feeling. The chuch service was so nice. Are there still traditional homes standing from the Roman Empire era? I love seeing tha balicicas. Wow those chandeliers!! Gorgeous! I really enjoyed the walk you did around the Forum. So nice! Thank you for a lovely walk. I so appreciate!❤🥰
Walked that same route many times a few months ago. Half as many people. But still a lot. How can I bitch. I was one of em. Lol. The ruins was why I went. They were cool to see. Oh to have Been there few thousand years ago.
unpopular opinion: Piazza Venezia con i cantieri della metro ha un certo fascino, secondo me troppo sottovalutato (forse gli umarells saranno d'accordo con me)
Crazy number of people...! 7:11, there is guy in the black coat selling roasted chestnuts there at the corner! He was there in 2012 when I first visited Rome (I think it was that year, maybe earlier), and then he was there also in 2016 as well when I took my wife there. They are yummy!
I traveled to Italy in May 2024 after more than 10 years without visiting the country. There were masses of people and tourists, with long queues and waits for everything. Prices were much higher compared to other countries like Spain, especially for accommodation and food. It's a shame the overpopulation of tourists doesn't allow for peaceful enjoyment. Is everything better in the past?
Hahaha! Unfortunately, summer is vacattion time for many. My wife is a teacher here in the US. We can only take vacations during the summer months when there is no school. We''ll be tin Rome in early June. Last year we went to Athens, Greece in early June also. I liked Athens especially taking the ferry to the island. We visited island Aegina. Nice little island to chill out by the beach!
I saw in another video somewhere where some city government or whatever were telling people NOT to sit on the steps. It doesn't appear in this video. Do you know if this is still going on?
I asked the same question because I had seen another video where men were telling everyone no sitting on the Spanish Steps. I believe it's mainly to keep the way open for movement through there. I can see that if people sit on the steps during the peak hours it would be a mission just to go down those steps!
I'm sorry to say this but the overcrowding of tourists in Rome takes away from it's beauty and splendor. And I was thinking of visiting because the opportunity presented itself but now I don't know. It just doesn't look so appealing anymore. And where the heck are all of the Italians? I'd prefer to see crowds of locals than the mall of America.
Too many people turns me off going again I was there 12 years ago and it was 50 percent less people and that was august! The internet and social media has ruined greece and italy
laurie I saw your question.I'm going to Rome 3rd week of Sept.I already know it's going to be crowded.Notice how when you see the crowds that people feel safe walking in Rome. You can visit St.Peter's Basilica at night which is absolutely amazing. How many churches in the world can you visit at night?Shows how safe Rome is.
That's true. But if you don't have kids in school, or you are not in school anymore then you can go on vacation anytime of the year. Therefore, with 8 billion people on the planet, most cities can expect lots of visitors anytime of the year especially if the weather is good.
ROMA eternamente Bela! Abraços do Brasil!😀

how are these people not dressed out of respect? you want them to wear a suit and tie?
It is called overpopulation, the same phenomenon which will cause the end of our species.
In memory of Monsignor Hugh O' Flaherty, the Scarlet Pimpernel of the Vatican 🇻🇦, for his courage and humanity in Rome 🇮🇪🔥❤️
Rome the most beautiful City of the universe.❤
Rome is really amazing I love the city
I was just there in March, less crowded and great weather.
Shame, i had a good time there a few years back and was thinking of going down there again soon but this turns me off. Not even 30sec in and you have the usual hawkers. And now i know why the hotel prices are insane in may.
Walking in Rome is always a great pleasure for me , thank you 🙏 I'll watch your video again 😊

Was there the same day, insanely crowded, can’t imagine how anyone will move in “peak season”.
And this is not even peak season wow
Good❤작년에 두번째 갔었고, 언젠가는 다시 가고 싶습니다만, 이젠 무릎아파서 못갑니다. 잘봤어요. 기억이 생생합니다. 감사해요. ❤
Thanks for the video
Thanks

My city invaded by millions of tourists 🥰 and next year with the jubilee it will be packed! During the pandemic, seeing it empty really hurt me 😢😢😢
Is amazing and beautiful. Thank you for share this incredible video.
Wow. There’s a LOT of people there.
My husband was born in Rome. It’s so beautiful. We are returning this July and will most likely be our last visit there.
Why is that? Is one of you ill? Are you elderly? I wish you a beautiful trip!

Those roman pines...
Was there, one year ago today! Looks as busy as when we were there. Fantastic trip! Rome, Florence, Venice.
I don’t even want to go to Trevi Fountain now. 😢 or Coloseum…
nobody wants:))
Two days is not enough time to see and enjoy it...next time
Eternal City

Great video. I'll be there next week. Lots of people
Hope you have a wonderful time in Rome. Thanks for watching
Over tourism
This is great to see, feels like we’re back there. However, it would be nice to use the captions to tell us which street you are walking along. ☺️
i remember my last visit there was 2015, it was also summer the weather was extreme and crowded.
Beautiful!!.. I was there last Summer!! Roma meravigliosa!!..
ROMA ❤ awseome city, the most beautiful i know. The crowds everywhere are the drawback, unfortunately...
I was there in last week of April 2024. Enjoyed visiting this beautiful city.
I am leaving for Rome tomorrow. Can't wait.
Great walking tour! I just uploaded a video with colosseum ticket tips as well as pompeii and vatican museum ticket tips! 🤗
Veni Vidi Vici ❤ 🇷🇸 👣
Nowadays the period to go to Europe is October_ March. April_September is hell.
Doesn't seem much like a vacation if you're elbowing your way thru everything on top of not getting robbed by the Roma
Interesting city tour.
Thanks

per un ingegnere edile forse 😅 Sicuramente il fascino lo avrà all'apertura della stazione, sopra e sotto.
stunning! but aren't you fined for sitting on the steps? $$$$ I see so many people sitting. or they do not fine you anymore?
Greetings from England
Thanks for watching my friend
Greetings back from the Netherlands!
@@TheWalkingDutchman4K greetings to you too from England
Great way to orient about a place, thanks. Would appropriate some info if possible while you walk
Noted! Thanks for watching
thank you for sharing! Greeting from Vancouver Canada! Could you tell me which season has less people in Rome?
None! Especially this year and the next one, cause of the Catholic Jubilee. it's actually starting to become an issue...
@@riccardo7739 I will wait for another 2 year then. Thanks!

@@IrishAnnie at one time, the roasted chestnuts was a winter only activity; now alas, there is too just too little seasonal difference in Rome

I thought you were not allowed to sit on the Spanish steps or risk a fine. i guess it has changed
Too crowded. Good to know. I’ll be there in June…

Thank you so much Paul for all the help and support. I really appreciate it. May God continue to bless you ❤️
Went in Oct 2023, the crows were insane. When I go again it'll be in Jan or Feb.
Every new post in Rome looks more and more crowded.
I went in October wasn’t as crowded as this.
Hope it’s not this crowded when I arrive in August! 😢
🇮🇹🔝
Would be nice if you could say what we are seeing ,every now and then.
The city is beautiful but its too crowded.
Sad to see how Rome has become trashed by the crowds
I thought it was not permissible to sit on the Spanish Steps. Did they change the rules?
I asked the same question because I had seen another video where men were telling everyone no sitting on the Spanish Steps. I believe it's mainly to keep the way open for movement through there. I can see that if people sit on the steps during the peak hours it would be a mission just to go down those steps!
It's forbidden to sit on the steps but I have no idea why people are allowed to sit on the steps sometimes.
It's actually forbidden to sit on the steps. But the rules are relaxed sometimes.
Love the city but way too many tourists 😢
😱 people, people 😱, Rome, where are you? Only people...😱
They have already forgot what they did to them under covid?

Beautiful historic unforgettable place but too crowded and literally no place to sit and no public restrooms that I could find. Exhausting.
Were you there this month?

Its Trinità dei Monti, not the "spanish steps"... 😡 we should all start calling the spot with its correct translation : TRINITÀ (dei Monti) STEPS
