Yes it is. The problem is version 1.0 of anything is super expensive. I clicked the crowd funding link to see what I could see. these are going to go for around $4K and up depending on what model you get. What I really want to see is tech like this become so common that $1200 will get me a base battery and one extender.
Pretty cool battery items coming out now, it this is a heavy combination of batteries. Weight makes a difference when camping. Thanks for showing us new and cool items.
Hey guys think you're missing the correct link for this product. This is still in Kickstarter mode, with 13 days left (from the date this posted) to get those introductory prices you quoted. Please add the correct link in description.
As always great video, really like the camper. My wife & myself are looking into campers & me being like David I think I'm gonna build one for us, I already have the platform. That way we get what she wants.
That House you showed had 2 Base Units $7600.00 Intro Offer, and "8" extra Batteries in the Garage that cost LORD Knows How Much. AND what kinda looked like a BMW or Something Maybe??? That would be really Nice, but most of us aren't Doctors or Attorney's. Even just the Base Unit Itself, I couldn't afford. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT Idea, and probably pretty practical like for what you were doing there. But for the "NORMAL" Crowd or Basic every day person???? I ain't got the THOUSAND'S it would take to Purchase the System. That Caboose is the Cat's Meow!!! Nice Job David!!!
Once again cost outweighs practically , the down fall of battery tech. 6k worth of battery to run 8hrs when , a 400 dollar generator and 3 gallons of gas will do the same thing.
Not to mention the weight of this outfit. Mind you I’m not sure what a generator weights but I’m guessing not 200lbs. 😅 This is quiet tho, I’ll give it that
@@frh-freerangehuman if it is as well insulated as he said generator noise would be heard inside and little more than $400 can get a nice 5kw inverter generator that weights 80lbs instead of the 230lbs of the setup shown here
Cool setup. It would be perfect if you could somehow connect the tow vehicle to charge the Zendure modules while you're driving. The foldable solar panels are a nice touch if they're effective on a sunny day. The price of the latest battery technology is unfortunately way too expensive still for it to be feasible for most people.
You can!! Buy a F150 PowerBoost or at least with Pro Power Onboard !!! Hahaha. I had a PowerBoost with 7.2 KW, but once several of my friends bought similar trucks, I didn’t find I needed all the energy and I liked the F150 Tremor more, so upgraded to a F150 Tremor with Pro Power Onboard. It powers my truck camper with surplus energy, if the truck has to start, it does so automatically and is much quieter than the “quiet” generators are. Even though I don’t use the water system in the camper (it’s not a 4 season camper) I still camp well into the winter!! Electric heat &/or propane heat, all there for ya!! Of course the truck cost a bit more than this generator!! Hahaha. The option cost for the 2.0 KW Pro Power Onboard was only $1300 Canadian. Less than 1/3 the cost of this generator they have in the video. ($5257 CAD as per the kickstart)
@@jeffforbes70 the ICE engine powering the tow vehicle already acts as a generator of sorts, so while in motion using it as transportation why not also charge up the battery bank? Two birds with one stone.
David, that is a great camper. I would love to see you tasked with the building of the most aerodynamic camper. It would be interesting to see you figure it out. I know you could.
Well, it's obvious gas isn't going anywhere soon. You could buy a nice generator with way more power and 800 gallons of gas for that price. For something that is sold as emergency use, that is a lot of ice storms.
This unit will sell well in states that are going to ban gas powered generators. As an avid boater, solar power is impractical without a backup generator. So I skip the solar and stay with a gas generator that sips 0.4 gallons/hour at 5kw.

I have never had a Yak burger, now I am awake! I do have some interesting thoughts on this, let me do some calculations. personally i like the idea of battery inverters, even if i kept an ice generator as i can just cycle the generator and run it at maximum efficiency. and use solar panels when weather permits
Compare that to a propane generator. 13,000w goes for $1300. Plus $20 propane for 6 hours of light. $2500 extra is a lot of propane, 125 refills. 750 hours….a month!
That's for a non inverter style generator though right? I've been looking for similar but do want an inverter generator. If there's a good brand for that price, definitely post up I'd love to take a look for this winter.
TFL, how about some stories on truck reliability? I see alot of content on the new trucks. Any way to talk to owners to see how their f150s, Rams, and GMs are holding up, most reliable engines, common problems, etc?
Already have. Both consumer reports and jd powers are highly summarized. For example, can you tell from CR which of the Ford 2.7, 3.5, or 5.0 engines are more reliable? Cool to see the Caboose again. As for which form of power you have to drag along, it is limited use. The solar power panels are exactly what you need to make all that useful. (provided you live someplace where you can get sun everyday) This product when not on sale for the top of the line unit with solar panels is about 4100 bucks. Again, limited helpfulness. In winter time, only the sunny states benefit from the solar paneled electric option. I have cloud cover 24/7 during the winter. When the storms knock out the power, this product is useful for what 6-12 hours? Then I am back to SOL. I won't be spending that much on a product with such limited usefulness. 😉
But some states are now banning Natural gas appliances and gas/ diesel powered generators so this would be your only option, or power walls, which also don't last very long without sun.
