As a separate note,,, there is no end to David’s creativity!! Such a very interesting person!! I think he would be just the right kind of friend to have!!
David must be running on a different clock than the rest of us. It's amazing how much he gets done, and it's all top notch. That camper is awesome!!!
Seems like a mixed method of using propane to cook and eat and using the battery pack for everything non-heating would be the most efficient use here. Heating coils are the most inefficient use of electricity, which is why it's reserved for emergency heat in homes with heat pumps.
That trailer is amazing. A caboose trailer is pretty unique. That is a nice power supply.
Love seeing the snow there! South East Virginia at 0600 this morning is 66 degrees. Generator here would be used for A/C!
For the price of one of these I can get several Honda generators and last a lot longer while having more power. Now that’s a win in my book 👍🏻
It is, as long as you can supply enough gas. With the batteries, you can recharge from solar.
That looks like a nice system. I really like the caboose. Nice setup inside.
Yes it is. The problem is version 1.0 of anything is super expensive. I clicked the crowd funding link to see what I could see. these are going to go for around $4K and up depending on what model you get. What I really want to see is tech like this become so common that $1200 will get me a base battery and one extender.
Once again cost outweighs practically , the down fall of battery tech. 6k worth of battery to run 8hrs when , a 400 dollar generator and 3 gallons of gas will do the same thing.
Not to mention the weight of this outfit. Mind you I’m not sure what a generator weights but I’m guessing not 200lbs. 😅
This is quiet tho, I’ll give it that
@@frh-freerangehuman if it is as well insulated as he said generator noise would be heard inside and little more than $400 can get a nice 5kw inverter generator that weights 80lbs instead of the 230lbs of the setup shown here
@@shaynegadsden harbor freight has a 2k gen inverter that will do every thing he needs a 5k is not needed to run lights and a heater.
@@boostedsaleen6146 i used 5k because that is the same max output as the unit shown plus a heater, lights and cooking can exceed the 2k
This was like a crossover of TFL and Hobotech - my two favorite channels.
Forget the battery. That is one SWEET camper!
Just get a Yamaha generator. 😁
David is prolific! Such a smart, interesting, fun person.
Yay, a few hours of power for only 2 grand. Add another grand for solar. We're gonna needa lotta electric ina future....
Compare that to a propane generator. 13,000w goes for $1300. Plus $20 propane for 6 hours of light. $2500 extra is a lot of propane, 125 refills. 750 hours….a month!
That's for a non inverter style generator though right? I've been looking for similar but do want an inverter generator. If there's a good brand for that price, definitely post up I'd love to take a look for this winter.
duromax xp13000eh. Runs my 4ton AC. $1329 on Amazon.
Well, it's obvious gas isn't going anywhere soon. You could buy a nice generator with way more power and 800 gallons of gas for that price. For something that is sold as emergency use, that is a lot of ice storms.
Pretty cool battery items coming out now, it this is a heavy combination of batteries. Weight makes a difference when camping. Thanks for showing us new and cool items.
As always great video, really like the camper. My wife & myself are looking into campers & me being like David I think I'm gonna build one for us, I already have the platform. That way we get what she wants.
I want his caboose plans.
Hey guys think you're missing the correct link for this product. This is still in Kickstarter mode, with 13 days left (from the date this posted) to get those introductory prices you quoted. Please add the correct link in description.
Is that unit weatherproof? If it was placed indoors, the higher ambient temperature would lower the stress on the battery pack.
That caboose trailer is so awesome!
You could buy a pretty nice generator for that amount of money!
you could buy 4 for the price of the base model. and not have to run to town to fast charge every day
Gas generators need copious amounts of gas to run for any length of time. These can charge back up using solar.
@@aussie2uGA mine will run for about 12 hrs on only a gallon of gas... an if u get a diesel there even better yet , but will be heavier... an I get what your saying it sounds like a good idea! But I got a solar panel an it takes hrs to charge my phone an thats nothing compared to this power supply! In emergencies I could see it maybe.. but is it really practical ? Unfortunately no....
Cool setup. It would be perfect if you could somehow connect the tow vehicle to charge the Zendure modules while you're driving. The foldable solar panels are a nice touch if they're effective on a sunny day. The price of the latest battery technology is unfortunately way too expensive still for it to be feasible for most people.
I agree, it's a nice unit, but it's priced too high for the average person to afford.
You can!! Buy a F150 PowerBoost or at least with Pro Power Onboard !!! Hahaha. I had a PowerBoost with 7.2 KW, but once several of my friends bought similar trucks, I didn’t find I needed all the energy and I liked the F150 Tremor more, so upgraded to a F150 Tremor with Pro Power Onboard. It powers my truck camper with surplus energy, if the truck has to start, it does so automatically and is much quieter than the “quiet” generators are. Even though I don’t use the water system in the camper (it’s not a 4 season camper) I still camp well into the winter!! Electric heat &/or propane heat, all there for ya!!
Of course the truck cost a bit more than this generator!! Hahaha. The option cost for the 2.0 KW Pro Power Onboard was only $1300 Canadian. Less than 1/3 the cost of this generator they have in the video. ($5257 CAD as per the kickstart)
if you connect a tow vehicle to charge it , you might just as well buy a generator.theres no free lunch
@@jeffforbes70 - True, kinda, still much quieter than a generator when you use it. Oh yeah, if you are driving the vehicle anyways,,,,,,
@@jeffforbes70 the ICE engine powering the tow vehicle already acts as a generator of sorts, so while in motion using it as transportation why not also charge up the battery bank? Two birds with one stone.
Great job on the Yak burger review video guys! I definitely want to try one now. … fun video as usual. 🤪
How do you stack another battery on top if the cord is on top ?
I love that trailer!
I think the trailer stole the show from the battery backup. 😂
Also $7500 for that battery set up. 🤷🏼♂️
Neat but ill stick with my quiet 3500w harbor freight inverter style generator. 10plus hrs of run time on a tank and I can add more run time with a few pounds of gas in a can.
Nothing like a warm caboose! 🤠
TOTALLY UNBIASED, INDEPENDENT FULLY SPONSORED TESTING!
That House you showed had 2 Base Units $7600.00 Intro Offer, and "8" extra Batteries in the Garage that cost LORD Knows How Much. AND what kinda looked like a BMW or Something Maybe??? That would be really Nice, but most of us aren't Doctors or Attorney's. Even just the Base Unit Itself, I couldn't afford. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT Idea, and probably pretty practical like for what you were doing there. But for the "NORMAL" Crowd or Basic every day person???? I ain't got the THOUSAND'S it would take to Purchase the System. That Caboose is the Cat's Meow!!! Nice Job David!!!
I have never had a Yak burger, now I am awake! I do have some interesting thoughts on this, let me do some calculations. We are prepping a new, very small, computer room and a normal "datacenter ready" UPS comes with a hefty price. If this one has 0-seconds failover, that is something worth testing.
personally i like the idea of battery inverters, even if i kept an ice generator as i can just cycle the generator and run it at maximum efficiency. and use solar panels when weather permits
These are great for those that aren’t so handy. The top model is actually about 200 AH as far as a battery goes. Pretty big and they don’t need to be trickle charged. You can throw the amps at them and they DO charge quickly. The packs are not crazy priced, now that the link shows the discounts, but the solar panels are d*mned expensive. Solar does charge them up quickly and keep them there though.
There are features that even a handy guy would have troubles replicating for a similar price, but I have built my own systems with 175 watts solar and 240 ah minus the 4G for similar $$$ in Canadian dollars. Think 36% less than the completed unit. I don’t say this to put them down, just to be more detailed. A 200 ah unit and one solar panel will be a lot of power for most uses especially camping. You won’t run Air Conditioning for very long though. That’s where gas generators excel. I don’t like the gas generators though because they really are not that quiet!! Especially if someone has their AC going in an RV, because they require the generator to run full out all the time, thus being louder all the time. I don’t go camping to listen to that racket.
EDIT: The unit they are using here is not yet available and is going to be available “if” the kickstarter gets about $13 million dollars. The unit they have here will cost thousands. The unit I was describing, talking about I’d the biggest unit they currently have for sale. Barring some fanatical backer, they will never reach their goal by November 19, 2022. They are only 1/2 way there now. I’m not a fan of any of these Kickstart style of schemes. Really, only one person profits from them,,,,,, and it’s not you.
Andre - I'd like to see some of the smaller ones in action... this thing is cool
4 grand done
It’s a do all
With ev charging East wrap battery connectors
But now I have a “gas” station at my house
This I could blanket with emp shields 🛡️
David, that is a great camper. I would love to see you tasked with the building of the most aerodynamic camper. It would be interesting to see you figure it out. I know you could.
I always like the Andre and David segments.
Hey, did we see you at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds a couple of months ago? If not, there's another guy out there with a red caboose.
Cool setup, so iron/ion/solid state? I realize we don’t want in the weeds details as a car channel but at that price it matters
Thanks you all for another great video with david and his camper.👏👍
So cool, I need that inverter! To go with my new lightning. All electric camp. No propane!
But 1 litre of petrol has 9.7 kWh/ weighing 2.2 lb. Or 1kg it doesn’t take two guys to lift it
This unit will sell well in states that are going to ban gas powered generators. As an avid boater, solar power is impractical without a backup generator. So I skip the solar and stay with a gas generator that sips 0.4 gallons/hour at 5kw.
That’s a nice caboose you got on you.
Cool to see the Caboose again. As for which form of power you have to drag along, it is limited use. The solar power panels are exactly what you need to make all that useful. (provided you live someplace where you can get sun everyday) This product when not on sale for the top of the line unit with solar panels is about 4100 bucks. Again, limited helpfulness. For 4100 bucks you can get a reasonable natural gas generator to take care of your important needs and it is there 24/7 whether the power grid is off for a day or months. In winter time, only the sunny states benefit from the solar paneled electric option. I have cloud cover 24/7 during the winter. When the storms knock out the power, this product is useful for what 6-12 hours? Then I am back to SOL. I won't be spending that much on a product with such limited usefulness. 😉
But some states are now banning Natural gas appliances and gas/ diesel powered generators so this would be your only option, or power walls, which also don't last very long without sun.
@@wb6anp Was not aware of the banning. But that would certainly not surprise me with the current administration in charge. So much for freedom of choice.
Great video! I've watched about this solar generator on Hobotec.
TFL, how about some stories on truck reliability?
I see alot of content on the new trucks. Any way to talk to owners to see how their f150s, Rams, and GMs are holding up, most reliable engines, common problems, etc?
Research it on the internet! Consumer Reports, JD Power etc. have empirical ratings for reliability and whatnot >
Already have. Both consumer reports and jd powers are highly summarized. For example, can you tell from CR which of the Ford 2.7, 3.5, or 5.0 engines are more reliable? Or the GM 3.0 diesel, 5.3, or 6.2 are? No.
jd powers reports on initial quality and satisfaction.
I've found best place is other youtube channels. Id like to hear from TFL. TFL should use their million + subscriber base to provide some feedback.
Dude I love my ride videos…
I've got a 2021ram1500 classic tradesman quad cab 4x4 v6 with lots of extras bought it new in August of 2021 11,500 miles no problems at all and I tow a lot with it nice simple truck 😀 👍
@@JJJ5.7 I don't think TFL talks about reliability on trucks. It would be awesome.
You can bring along a generator to charge this battery pack. Cool.
Awesome looking RV. I bet it’s heavy. I’d be looking at upgrading the tires. The current tires are made in China Goodyear Marathon knock-offs
Looks similar to an Ecoflow but I prefer Bluetti. Got the AC200P. But this has similar features to the AC200 Max
Not impressed with the Zendure battery pak, what I am impressed with is Davids talents! Every time that guy is on he has something else he built! Now if Zendure would of made a battery pak with a built in gas generator that automatically went on when the battery went low I would be impressed!
Great video, I think its neat system but I will stick to my propane Generator I can run it for days instead of a few hours
Oh... My... GOODNESS!!!! 😲😲😲 I Love the Caboose look up his trailer. 🥰🥰🥰
Sweet Camper.❤❤❤❤❤❤🚂
Needs to have a Bluetooth app so you can monitor it with your phone, do they have a marine version?
Wowzers! The power unit is awesome and versatile! The camper is even cooler. Where can I find out more about it???
Where is this system made?
Love the caboose camper, but with the price of that battery unit I could buy a pretty good generator and plenty of gas, even at these prices. As a modular powerwall for a home it makes sense, but I'd honestly be afraid to take something that expensive camping, I'd always be worried about some parasite stealing it.
I want a yak burger after watching this one
Love Videos with David.
But, It think ill stick with my Honda EU7000 watt gas gennie though.
Zendure, Ecoflow etc … is there a brand that is really leaps ahead of the others or are they very very similar in technology, durability and battery longevity?
Yes, ecoflow and renogy.
Interesting that none of the products in your video are shown on their website. When are these products going to be available?
Where can I purchase some Yak products from David's farm? I Would love to try some, I love to support local businesses!
How long would it power an rv like a 30 foot or the ATC Toyhualer yall are using. Maybe an answer for a generator replacement???
Hey you looked at worksport’s products? Very similar both would be good toys to have.
Does it have pass thru power?
120 pounds and MAYBE you could run your electric heater all night (yes, we know electric heaters arent as efficient as propane or diesel). OR make 9 Pizzas? OR make it 20 miles in your EV hummer? It has good overall capacity and the Fast Charger capability could come in handy for the right person who travels heavy (then again, if tha5sbthe case you can just build your own battery system), but it's just not a contender for campers/overlanders/off-roaders. I'll stick with my Jackery 1000 and run a 12v fridge and a diesel heater till the cows come home.
Anyway, the caboose is a cool project.
That is really cool but not sure with the pricing if people will consider them over a generator.
Boy, I could buy A LOT of propane for the price if that setup. And heat my trailer for way longer than 6 hours, like years.
My 12volt camper system runs fine plugged into my truck.
The battery power packs are the new Energy Drink sponsors. They are sponsoring like every channel.
Mostly overpriced hype too
@@jonzaremba I have a few. They have their place. I also have 4 generators.
$3k for 200W of solar and a battery with some electronics, there is room for advertisement in the markup
@@racingfortheson I have a small Bluetti. I just can't justify paying more than $700 for one of these types of devices. There are a limited number of cycles. Once you get up to the $1000 mark, it just makes more sense to have a generator that will last a decade.
@@jonzaremba that’s why I bought LiFePO4 packs. But remember, they won’t be dead after their cycles. They just “might” only have 80%. They will last much longer than you think.
What is the weight of David’s camper?
Nice backup power. I would buy this setup👍😎👍
Seems to me that these power storage systems are both inefficient and ineffective
not to mention very expensive. Just run a inverter generator and carry along some
gasoline.....
How much does that trailer weigh? Time for someone to come up with that batt system with a small gas inverter to charge back up when it gets low.
❤️👏👏👏ANDRE GETTING A CABOOSE JOKES IN HIS HEAD AS SOON AS DAVID SAID THE WORD LMAO 😂👏👏👏👏 HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️..
Ah NO.
I'm game. Personally I'd rather cook and grill on a fire, but if it's raining and I'm stuck inside the camper with electric appliances, not having to listen to a generator run is pretty nice.
Just looked at zendure
Beautifull vídeo 👍
If I could buy a caboose shaped camper I'd be a very happy person
How are you supposed to stack them with the plug on the top
or you get a decent sized honda gas generator and a few gallons of gas and run all of that in any weather conditions.
yeah... not there yet
Basically, this is just a commercial/infomercial for zendure, got it.
So... maybe a stupid question... but why does Zendure or someone else use this to make EV with fast changing batteries? So you do not need to wait for the charging?
TFL!
This would be a great way to get some new content in and also maybe get jeep to unleash something amazing!
Revisit the 2016 Jeep Comanche Concept! Car and Driver has an article on it. It's a Renegade with an extended wheelbase and a truck bed slapped on, diesel engine!
With the advent of the Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Toyota soon to release another small truck, Jeep already has some of the prework prototyped. A video from ya'll might help open the eyes of the engineers there to give us another competitor, perhaps more off road focused too. Actually small, utilitarian trucks are returning and we need to push the demand for them.
Rather have a Honda EU7000i for that price
Great product, wish it was like 2800 bucks
That pack would charge almost half the pack on my Kia Soul ev 😅
The cables should come with it
Does it take an hour or two to fill a gerry can? How much does a gerry can weigh? Asking for a friend
Does gas fall from the sky for free, silently? Asking for a friend...
@@leetjohnson I think you missed a couple of links in the chain when it comes to transforming solar energy into useful stored power there bud.
Cool product but still technology not there to be practical for most. $4.5k+ It would be nice if the price was half that for the amount of stored power.
Very nice setup in the trailer
Im just here for the cool camper.
Made in USA!
And it Fits on the back of my caboose “ …
What did he say ? Lol !
Great line David - soon to be staring in the next Airplane movie that uses EV power
He should use BLUETTI or eco flow solar panels
Is it solar powered?
It is astonishing how little power this things have. Completely useless, how did that solar panel worked out?
Nice infomercial.🎉
You keep saying “Fast Charge”, but it Level 2 charges with standard 240V and a J1772 connector. Fast Charging implies DC Fast Charging with CCS1 connector. Thanks for the infomercial. 🙄
As an RV’er (42’ motorcoach) who boondocks a lot, this makes ZERO sense. As a homeowner with a whole house natural gas generator, this makes ZERO sense. As a homeowner with solar, using this vs even a Powerwall makes ZERO sense.
Cool power supply but pails in comparison to David’s awesome RV! Sorry Andre but the RV stole the show my friend…lol!
