I took my sister to see Cody last year in Birmingham uk. He was supporting janelle monae that night. Although I wasn't a follower of the faith at the time - my sister has always been. We both felt his message. Either side of the track you walk. I managed to meet him in the foyer later and he is a true man of the Lord. And the perfect gentleman. He also signed my cd (even after hitting him with a terrible chorus of 'the seed') he took it without wincing once.
I listen to this song all the time. It gives me strength. It is the wisdom of a man who has lived 'life'....
This man understands what it is to be everything to everyone but nothing to no one at the same time. I thank you and the Lord for bringing this music to me.

I was on the set. The GREATEST experience!!
He is the most down to earth humble person you will ever meet last time I saw him he was at the Tallahassee Mall using a pay phone that was right before I left Tallahassee he was also the music director at our Church. When I came back to Tallahassee for my grandmother funeral in 2010 he served food and tea at her repass once again he is just an awesome humble person.

I've been listening to the this song on repeat. I'm really trying to figure out the meaning of the song. This is my take on it...
He's been trying to figure out the direction he should take with his life, he meets a woman who opens his eyes to a new way of looking at life and the video shows the black wombman as God. I dont' neccessairly see it as him finding Christ even with him saying "lord" She gave him direction and exactly what he needed.

+Icia Anderson I wondered if the black woman was a metaphor of Jesus. But, I didn't initially understand the intention of her falling down. Then, I wondered, what if that was representative of God's crucifixion?
That kinda works. But, its just a guess.
Well to me the song tells me that He's death and when you die before you supposed to you have unfinished business in the world and now he's trying to find the way to heaven but he gets lost in the long road so it looks like his wife that died before him is helping him get there that's why she looks like an angel kinda so they can both go together so he can no longer get lost in the world. that's just point of view.
It is about finding salvation. He explained it in an interview.

If you listen to the words and follow the video it makes since. Take a hint to the the "on earth as it is in heaven" quote that was used in the vid. Obviously he is trying to find his way from the lost of his significant other hence "I was a dead man, I was asleep. I was a stranger in a foreign land til I met thee". He found peace in the end of it all. If you listen to his whole album he went through a journey that's why it took him so long to come back.
Cody's new album is a must have. It is COMPLETE.
I only hope I don't have to wait another decade for more from him.
