- Before the big shop and the TV shows, the Pate Swap Meet was THE big thing for Gas Monkey Garage and Richard during the Spring time. The past few years Richard Rawlings didn't have the time to make it out, but now he decided to was time to get back to his rootes. Checking out collections of Americana and buying cars, that's what its all about... and maybe beating out an American Picker for the gem of the swamp meet!

Definitely! Less and less he looks like he's waiting for a director to yell "CUT!", or "Can we do that again? We saw a butt crack" at any second. UA-cam is a different beast but he's finding his groove fast. Same with the crew!

It’s great hearing you talk about your dad. That has to be hard because I’m sure you miss being able to talk with him. But at least your still able to see him and take him to you shop and show him his car and he remembers it. Thanks awesome

I love automotive swap meets. Reminds me of the days back in the 80's selling and buying at the Pomona swap meet. I'm going to one this weekend here in central Calif.

Some of the ABSOLUTE BEST times I've had have been at swap meets!! Autos, tools, tradesmen, boats, antiques, electronics, etc... Man, they're just filled with great opportunities from even better people. Beer, BBQ, and the corporate shit doesn't exist. Looks like a blast! I know it's being said in every video but this format is so much better better than Discovery!! Keep it up brother!

Remember as a kid, every April we load my grandfather‘s van and trailer up head down to the Pate museum and the land around it, he had a spot that he had every year next to a man that had Porsches. My grandfather had lots of hatpins mudflaps lots and lots of McDonald’s toys hat bands hats T-shirts lots of rat Fink stuff which I wish I still had because it’s coming back around but most important of all if any of you guys remember him his name is Leonard “Leon” Mitchell and he was in a wheelchair because he had polio when he was a kid he looks like Kenny Rogers is he was a cripple LOL some of the old-school guys that follow this channel may remember him he also had animal puppets which he could make them seem so real

I lived at the swap meet with my parents for three months 2 years in a row making T-shirts and selling sunglasses and am FM portables 1968/69 I collected Revell models by the box full wish I still had them but they were hard to ship to Germany in the 80
2:50 the exact car I was brought home from the hospital in when I was born. Rode in nothing but Caddies and Lincolns after that. Dad named me after his boss. =)

Just wanted to let you know that I share the same enthusiasm for the swap meets and, I to, don't get to get out to them as much as I'd like. We don't have many good ones in this part of the country.
But there is "Cruisin' the caost" car show and meet on the Mississippi Golf Coast . You should come and check it out.
It's normally the first weekend in October.
If you come, bring money. Lol.
