- Leaking Ideal Vogue Flue Today I've come to a job in Bradford, so the job is to wire a Nest in for a customer, so this boilers two years old and I just want to show you the flue was actually leaking so I went and took the case off the boiler Ideal Vogue , the flue is actually leaking, so I'll just show you this now.
So I'm going to look in this as well, they've also not put grommets in, they've just got wires straight through, so I'm going to sort this out for the customer, I'm going to take these wires out and put these grommets in as they should be done. You can see that as well, you can see all the water damage there, rust damage, so you can see that the flue been leaking in.
So I just come up to do a nest for a customer in Bradord and I just took care of stuff, if we have a look at the flue seal here, I was afraid of this boiler, I don't know if you can see in there, but that put flue currently, if you'll look there, flues not even in, you stay there,
So if we have a look on the top of the boiler there, we can see that it's all been leaking in there and corroded you can see where it's been leaking down as well, so I'm going to take this off, let's just see if I can slide it out.
So you can just see that, it's been just pushed up and the person that's installed it hadn't checked it, it's been serviced as well since, so whoever came and serviced it also hasn't spotted it. So I'm going to try and pull that out now and see if I can just deal with it. So we've managed to take the seal out and straightened up and we're going to test it now with the flue gas analyzer just to make sure it's all locked here, but it seems a lot better now. So hopefully that will be satisfied for the customer.
So that's it, we managed to site it for the customer, so we've done the Nest, that we actually came to do and we've also done the flue seal and we've tested all with the flue gas analyzer, so it's all safe and the customer's happy. One happy customer. Thanks for watching.

Hi Allen, great vids, been watching you for a while now, Senior (age that is ) Heating engineer with more than 30 years in the industry, quick question for you how many RIDDORS, Warning Notices do you issue in a year and how many Isolated dangerous appliance do you complete

So basically if the work of an engineer isn't up to scratch you just follow them around for a little while and RIDDOR the work they do🤣. They'll soon be struck off the GSR.
It's mainly to report incompetency of GSR engineers. Risk of Dangerous Diseases & Dangerous occurrence regulations. If it's a DIY install, HSE won't want to know. If the works carried out by a supposedly competent engineer. That's reportable. It's all governed by the health and safety executives which are basically GasSafe which are in there with IGEM.
I wonder how much time is saved by installing a boiler badly. I can see why a lazy does not service a boiler properly - because they can. IMHO - you should either get the customer to report these incidents to Gas Safe or you should report. No wonder the industry has a bad name.
I have asked a few customers to report them but they were not interested, they just wanted me to sort it. Thanks for watching.
Hi Allan, I found a logic today with exactly the same thing. The washer like yours looks miss shaped....did you replace the washer or reuse it.
I put the washer back and it passed case and flue integrity but I did pick up 6 parts CO close to the gasket. I decided to turn it off and order a part.
I've often wondered mate if any of these dodgy fellas you find fault with watch your videos and cringe at their own mistakes 😂 funny thought.
TBH its starting to get more and more now, I hope the guys do see them and learn from it, I know at least one guy has seen my videos and it was of his work. everyday is a school day.

Allen just wondering how you set up your camera to make your videos is it a tripod ? and what do you use for camera etc love watching these vids and trying to get ideas on how to go about starting to make some

Surely the analyser readings would have been all over the place, are these engineers not using one on fitting and servicing?
Timmy Gasman I cannot really comment as I didn’t test it before, once I seen it I took it off and sorted it for customer, didn’t want to leave boiler AR
How old was the boiler?

Alan can you do a video on different type of flues. Balanced flue , fan flue etc what are the difference and benefits of each one

I'd go with the sentinel X800. Imho I find it works better then the Fernox F5 powerflush.
Allen what is the white stuff coming from the flue called ? And how did you test the with fga ? Thanks m8
For a flue that has been mounted rear entry - does the whole boiler need to be removed to replace the Flue seal?
Was that expanding foam on the flue (firefoam)
Engineers take note, Valiant ecotec pro flue adaptor seals are perishing on these boilers. The seal that seals the elbow onto the turret gets worn and the turret goes brittle causing flue gases to leak.
