Something is wrong with all Russian tanks

  • The Russians don't have many tanks left. Most of the tanks in Russia's storage facilities are not suitable for recovery. And their industry is not capable of producing more than 60 tanks a year.
    By continuing to lose a lot of tanks on the battlefield, the Russians risk being completely without tanks this year.
    A great tank power can fall behind without tanks.

      As you allude to - every time you observe dear ol' St. Javelin causing yet another Russian tank to flare up and blow it's turret off, you're simultaneously observing three trained crewmen being almost instantly incinerated. So yeah, Russia's much-vaunted armoured forces are not only losing their more modern tanks on an unprecedented rate, they're also losing their most *experienced* crews in *three's*. Diabolical.

When Russian technicians arrived, supposedly to make them airworthy, they stole valuable components and flew back to Russia. Those six helicopters have never seen service and sat in hangars. The Portuguese government is now donating them to Ukraine for military service. They obviously have the spares and engineers to get them airworthy. Apparently Russia is really pissed off. I highly suspect russia's nuclear arsenal is not in much better shape; and tanks are relatively simple compared to nukes to store. There was a test of russian nuclear subs launching all their missiles at once durring the USSR. The first test almost destroyed the sub. Decades later they tried again, just before the USSR collapsed. It took almost a year of special training and preparation to pull off, just the test. That was over 30 years ago; but, I guess with nukes, you only have to be wrong about few.

      Assumptions often hurt, especially comparing the past with today. For example, all the Western media assumed and trumpeted that in March-April 2021 the Russians would run out of missile stocks, instead the Ukrainians in the following months suffered many other attacks, even massive ones, which caused a lot of damage to their electrical. Therefore I would be more cautious with the assumptions, indeed, probably the Russians, having had 8 years to prepare stocks for war, have restored many of the 40,000 nuclear warheads of the former Soviet Union. In fact, they have been preventing American inspections of their nuclear weapons for a long time and have refused to renew the START II treaty.
      Putin openly challenged NATO to enter directly the battlefield alongside the Ukrainians:
      ua-cam.com/video/L70-EqdDd1A/v-deo.html
      but Biden and NATO cowardly don't want to do it. Guess the two reasons. Hint: the first and easy reason is that it's cheaper to make a lot of money by selling weapons and using Ukrainians as cannon fodder.

    Russia has already lost over 4000 tanks and the storage area's that housed the obsolete tanks are now mostly empty. From the before and after satellite footage shows that the tanks that were removed were in bad condition but mostly intact. The best guess on the numbers is around 2000 repairable and 3000 for part's. One thing that was noticed by the Ukrainian military is that the majority of Russian tanks had the explosive part of the explosive reactive armour missing and as that is the main part of the armour and the tanks were designed with thinner main armour because of it, this is part of the reason why Russian tanks have performed so badly. The other reasons are a lack of training in combined troop and tank combat, a very poor logistics system and a lack of communication equipment. Basically the Russian military was not prepared for any major military operation and its fighting capacity was greatly over estimated. Due to the losses that the Russian military has suffered in Ukraine Russia cannot be considered a super power, it is still a nuclear power but it now doesn't have a modern military that can defend itself.

    • @trumpforever6706
      @trumpforever6706 Рік тому

      If what you say were true, the West would have already attacked Russia as it did Iraq, Libya, Serbia and Afghanistan. Too bad, however, that in a clash between superpowers only nuclear weapons count and all the rest become toys. And the Kremlin knows this well, so I would say that Russia can defend itself very well. Putin knows this so well that he has invited NATO to go directly to the battlefield alongside the Ukrainians:
      ua-cam.com/video/L70-EqdDd1A/v-deo.html
      But that coward Brandon prefers to sell weapons and make a lot of money using the Ukrainians as cannon fodder. If you are truly willing to defend democracy and the freedom of a people, you must also be willing to see all the nations of the West wiped out under Russian nuclear bombs, not to only inflate your wallet with money made on the blood of Ukrainian soldiers.

      @@meduza6281 first of all Russia is the aggressor and committed an unprovoked attack on Ukraine. Second no country wanted to or wants to attack Russia that is just Russian propaganda designed to create fear and hate. Third Russia under putins dictatorship has become a weak country militarily, this was created by the corruption of putins regime that has spent more money on personal yachts than the Russian military. Putin has been stealing billions from the Russian people every month and other members of his regime have been following his example. The free countries of the world will always help each other against murderous dictatorships that try to overthrow other countries. Yes Russia will lose the war against Ukraine because the Russian military has not been receiving the funding necessary for the proper training, equipment and supplies that a modern military needs. In the first 2 weeks of the invasion of Ukraine the Russian militarys logistical structure completely collapsed and columns of Russian military vehicles stretching several miles long were out of fuel and unable to move for over a month, this gave Ukraine the opportunity to destroy the majority of these vehicles without much effort. In the opening month of Russia's invasion of Ukraine the Ukrainian military destroyed the best troops and equipment that the Russian military had. Ukraine stopped the invasion and destroyed these units without any help but once they started receiving help they showed just how bad the Russian military had become and how further advanced the rest of the world is in military technologies compared to Russia. Ukraine has shown how vulnerable the Russian military is to drones and accurate artillery. Ukraine has been using more drones than any other military force in history and has shown how easy it is to adapt commercially available drones to military use and how easy and cheap it is to build drones from scratch for military purposes. Remember that the Russian propaganda ministry claims that Russia has destroyed Bradley fighting vehicles in Ukraine but Ukraine has not received any so it just provides more proof of the lies and disinformation that putins regime is spreading. That was back in the days when the tanks were stationed in the GDR. The attack plans (at least the ones which surfaced) seem to indicate a one week "blitzkrieg". One plan suggests that the troops stationed in the GDR would have reached the French border in 5 to 7 days.
      It seems that even in the late 1980s the Soviet troops in the GDR had...supply issues. The NVA (the army of the GDR), while not receiving the latest military equipment from the SSSR, was however one of the strongest Warsaw Pact armies.
      The combined NVA and Soviet forces in the GDR would have included about 6000 battle tanks and 9500 APCs, and also a number of tactical nuclear bombs (a 1989 NVA exercise, included 76 tactical nuclear strikes). If the Warsaw Pact had invaded West Germany, the combined forces would have been under Soviet leadership (same for a potential invasion of Poland in the early 1980s). Even without the planned tactical nuclear strikes, the number of tanks and APC would have outnumbered the material available to the Bundeswehr (West German army). It was estimated that the Warsaw Pact troops would outnumber NATO troops by factor 3.
      The threat was definitely real. However, it was all "strength by numbers" (and a few tactical nukes), not by quality. Soviet leadership estimated losses of more than two millions of their own soldiers in case of an invasion. Seems the Russian leaders never really cared about their "human material"...and, apparently, the "human material" performed maintenance with the same lack of enthusiasm.

    So we are talking about 5,800 Rusdian tanks pre-war. Almost 3,500 are now gone. Leaving 2,300 and the current attrition is 8 per day.
    Coming offensives plus modern tanks and tank killers will accelerate this atttition. Plus the effects start kicking in long before Russia gets to zero. We're talking about one-sided battles with modern armour against Russian conscripted infantry. The end will come fast.

    I think these discussions are discounting the Russian ability to improvise and cobble together machinery, however. Russian infrastructure and consumer goods have ALWAYS been iffy, the mindset of the population is very DIY and very mechanically able. Western armies and engineers expect everything to be figured out and all components to be fresh. Russians have a lot of experience rigging things up with bailing wire. What is my point? I expect they are furiously coming up with procedures and designs to churn out tanks right now. We shouldn't be too self satisfied.

    Its important to seperate heavy tanks and apc's, because a lot of the 'kill' videos are of apc's beeing blowed up, so the claimed number of heavy tanks losses isn't correct i belive. I also have heard that during the Kharkiv campain the Ukrains focues on killing support trucks (apc and supplies) then the heavy tanks, because they were easier to kill and when they are gone the heavies aren't that effective, espesially without fuel and ammo. The actuall losses we will not now untill after the war, now its a propaganda game of numbers.

And that is why they were confident that they could easily and quickly reach the English Channel.

      What the war showed is what happens when you don't properly train your tank crews, don't properly prepare the tanks themselves for combat, and don't follow your own 'combined arms warfare' doctrine. The Russians didn't load the explosives into their ERA and didn't issue ammunition for the smoke grenade launchers before the invaded. (For obvious reasons the explosives for ERA are stored in munitions bunkers in peacetime.)
      Smoke grenade launchers are an effective means of self-defense against antitank missiles (when combined with the drivers using effective evasive driving). So is using 'reconnaissance by fire' - identifying good places to launch antitank missiles from and hitting them with machinegun fire or a main gun round to discourage bad behavior. Continuous 360-degree observation in a combat zone is essential no matter what your job in the military is. If a tank platoon is moving on a road or not as part of a larger formation - the first tanks weapons are orientated to the front, the next tank is to the side, the third tank is to the other side, and the last tank is to the rear.
      Tanks on a road with the main guns facing forwards aren't going to see anything but the ass end of the tank in front of them. Tanks with the main gun elevated above the horizontal can't see anything but sky. If the tank commander has his hatch closed - the only things he can see are the same things his gunner can see. (Note: this doesn't apply to tanks fitted with 'hunter-killer' sights.)
      If I was in Ukraine during the first weeks of the invasion there probably would have been videos of me standing on a Russian tank and yelling at the crews for being morons and making the rest of the world's tankers look bad. (I probably would have also advised them to defect to the US, get a green card, join the US Army - and get properly trained to our standards.)

    • @oveidasinclair982
      @oveidasinclair982 Рік тому

      No it hasn't, this war has proved that the improper operation of a main battle tank is a death sentence and that has been proven since WWII. Tanks work best when combined with infantry, infantry fighting vehicles and air support. You really have no concept of modern war tactics, just stick with something you actually know best, like smoking weed.

      It would be logical to assume that their nuclear arsenal is in about the same condition as the rest of their military supplies and capabilities.
      Another thing to consider : ICBMs are designed to go outside of Earth's atmosphere - then "re-enter" over the designated target. This is an
      exact calculation - too shallow of re-entry and the warhead skips off the atmosphere and back into space....too steep of an angle and the war-
      head burns up due to friction. It is critical to re-enter at about + or - approx. 2 degrees...are they confident of their ability to hit this narrow window ??
