The only way Spaceballs was allowed to be made is that George Lucas asked that no merchandising was created which is why they have that part in the movie.
Galexy Quest is a fun space comedy with Tim Allen, Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver. It's a really fun silly comedy about actors who now do conventions and really don't have any other acting gigs after their show was canceled. So much fun.😂😂

"We're not just doing this for money! We're doing it for a SHIT LOAD of money!" That's a good enough reason. 😎 👍 Fun Fact: The Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars saga makes a cameo appearance in this movie. Take a close look at the exterior shot of the Space Diner, and it can be spotted parked there among the other space vehicles. George Lucas got a chance to read the screenplay before production began, and loved it so much that he decided to have his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, help make this movie. Bonus Fact: The castle on the planet Druidia is King Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. It has been modified by matte painting with additional ramps. Neuschwanstein Castle has been featured in many motion pictures, and it is the original inspiration for all Disney theme park castles.
It's also worth noting that George Lucas had only one request of Mel Brooks... no merchandise... which is why you'll never actually find a Spaceballs The Coloring Book anywhere. Thus the joke about it in the movie. This thing is so deep on so many levels, it should be studied in film school.
Barf's ears move like that because they were part of rig that allowed the ears to be remotely controlled. John Candy had to wear that rig the whole time they were filming this movie.

"You went over my helmet" is taken from the phrase "You went over my head?" which is to mean "you went over my authority" because to go over someone's 'head' of the department is like going over their 'head'. I'm not explaining this well but "going over my head" also means going over the manager's approval because they have to use their head to make decisions also.

One little tidbit of trivia on the opening crawl. In Spaceballs The Book (YES this does exist), the opening crawl's font shrinks every line to a very TINY font at the end, so the "if you can read this you don't need glasses" joke makes sense there.

The movie that kickstarted this entire comedy genre is Airplane! (1980) which you should check out. Mel Brooks directed Spaceballs and was an indirect rival of the Zucker/Abrahams clan (who did Airplane and Naked Gun). Definitely check out more of Brooks' works including Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), Dracula: Dead & Loving It (1995), and Hot Shots 1 & 2 (parody of Top Gun) by Jim Abrahams.

One thing most reactors miss is how often Mel Brooks inserts gags from Looney Toons cartoons. They were made by Warner Brothers so getting permission was not a problem. Blazing Saddles had the candygram and Spaceballs had the Alien Chest Burster doing Michican J. Frog's song and sance routine.
If you do check out any other Mel Brooks' movies, keep in mind that he draws on a long tradition of Jewish/Yiddish humor that's more familiar to Americans of a certain age than anyone who grew up after the year 2000. Not that you won't enjoy it anyway. As an aside, Daphne Zuniga's (who played Princess Vespa) father was a professor at the University I went to. I took a Philosophy and Literature class from him. The first thing he mentioned in class was who his daughter was. (She was on a popular TV show at the time.)
Well, there's Transformers: The Movie from 1986, which had the voices of Orson Welles as Unicron, Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron, Judd Nelson as Hot Rod and Eric Idle as Wreck-Gar and it had an amazing 80's soundtrack by Lion, Stan Bush & Weird Al Yankovic! You should watch & react to it! 🙂
13:31 Fun fact. Mel Brooks told everyone in the scene about the joke, EXCEPT one guy...the gentlemen on the left is the sole one left out of the loop, and you can see the utter confusion he expresses.
Another movie starring the actor who had the alien burst out of his chest was the film adaptation of 1984; that actor (John Hurt) played Winston, and Richard Burton (in his last role) played O'Brien.
Schwartz is the name of Mel Brooks' lawyer, by the way. Marcus Luttrell revealed that little insight when working on the movie adaption of his book Lone Survivor. He met Mr. Schwartz and he was talking about Mr. Brooks.. and Luttrell thought about it for a second and asked "Wait... Are you..." and Schwartz looked up and said "Yes, may the Schwartz be with you."
Spaceballs is Mel Brooks' science fiction parody. His genre parodies take direct inspiration from a blockbuster movie, then throw in everything and anything that fits the genre! Star Trek, spoiled princess, reluctant rogue, bizarre aliens, Wizard of Oz, the twins from Quark (obscure, short-lived comedy on TV), Green Lantern/Lensmen, Transformers, Alien; & Planet of the Apes. Chewbacca has been described as being based on a dog. Personally, I don't see it. But that's why Barf is a mog (half man/half dog). Barf was probably created thru genetic engineering. No bestiality involved. The "bus" is a Winnebago recreational vehicle. Haven't you ever seen an RV? Transformers in the 80s were mostly an animated TV series based on the toys.
Nothing like getting wasted with those you care for. Thanks for some silliness Shree. Mel pays homage to more than SW. If you've seen them you recognize the nod. Love his work. He did a great interview in playboy many years ago. Gave us some insight to how he thinks. I think it was after blazing saddles came out and he was fresh in everyone's mind. Interesting read. Good job Shree. Do something nice for your family. Happy moms day
Interesting fact, the entire making of Shrek, Lord Farquaad's name was Lord F*ckwad all the way up until the last moment before they went to release Shrek and they realized they couldn't leave it as F*ckwad.

14:40 Because practical effects. Sure, you can tell models and puppets, but something is there, not just CGI, which ages much faster and often worse. 15:00 And that's Michael Winslow. He played that guy in Police Academy movies that did all that beatboxing, so that's why he's here doing same thing. Also, guess I forgot about Austin Powers trilogy. It's a spoof of James Bond (particularly Sean Connery era, I feel) on the level of Spaceballs. With Bond cliches being so prevelant, I wouldn't say you need to have watched any Bond movie before. 39:28 Yeah, the cartoon started in 1984 (was a toy line in Japan before) and it had a whole feature-length animated movie in 1986 (which is 80's AF and good for a watch if you want to catch some vibes of the decade and it has Orson Welles in it too).
Not only did Elon Musk get the idea for the Boring Company Flamethrower from Spaceballs, but the Tesla Model S Plaid is a reference to it as well. It's the fastest production car ever built with a 0-100 kmph of 1.9 seconds.

24:34 Lonestar is a combination of Luke and Han, Lone=Solo Star=Sky(walker)
Princess gone rogue?
No. Princess gone Terminator.
The Statue of Liberty bit with the monkey people at the end of the movie was a parody of the climax of the original 1968 "Planet Of The Apes".
George Lucas agreed to have ILM (industrial light and magic ) do the special effects in return for there to be no actual Spaceballs merchandising .
Haha, now that's a proud dad!
Nice! Would love to!
@@ShreeNation Sweet! 😃🙂
There was no "Spaceballs 2", but there is a "Spaceballs: The Animated Series".
Fun fact, if it hasn't been already mentioned - Joan Rivers, the voice
of Dot, improvised EVERY single line. She did not have a script.
That is awesome!
13:31 Fun fact. Mel Brooks told everyone in the scene about the joke, EXCEPT one guy...the gentlemen on the left is the sole one left out of the loop, and you can see the utter confusion he expresses.
My Parents Love this movie it’s so funny ( slightly insulting to Star Wars but still funny lol)
Lol, that's awesome!
He did say "Not again"... he was also the actor in Alien
You’d love Blazing Saddles. Airplane as well.
I can't wait!
May The Schwartz Be With You.
And with you
Spaceballs is Mel Brooks' science fiction parody.
John Hurt played the guy who got his chest burst open in Alien. So it was funny when they did it in Spaceballs
Happy moms day
Thank you so much 🥰
34:35 "this man has no freedom"
well, he played the president, yoghurt and directed the movie.
I guess your right
Mel Brooks described this as : Blazing Saddles In Space
When he says " why don't we take a 5 minute break" he means it. It's 5 minutes before we see them again😉
Love the no filter.. fun movie as a kid.
me ( after seeing Pizza the Hut); thank god I'm always ordering from Domino's.
"Millennial Falcon" I can't tell you how much I love that!
😁
6:04 They Say Protect Yourselves For A Reason And It Shows.
Lonestar is a combination of Luke Skywalker and Ham Solo
Interesting fact, the entire making of Shrek, Lord Farquaad's name was Lord F*ckwad all the way up until the last moment before they went to release Shrek and they realized they couldn't leave it as F*ckwad.
Heheh
Valium is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of anxiety, muscle spasm, alcohol withdrawal and as a sedative before surgery or to treat seizures.
32:11 _"Yoghurt!_ I _hate_ yoghurt! Even with _strawberries!"_
😠 Ooh! Them's _fightin''_ words!
I believe that Prince Valium’s name is a parody of the comic strip character Prince Valiant.
Lone Star was supposed to be something of a cross between Han Solo and Indiana Jones
Father's brother (your uncle)
Your uncle's nephew (you)
Your cousin's former roommate.
So Dark Helmet is Lone Starr's cousin's former roommate.
Not only did Elon Musk get the idea for the Boring Company Flamethrower from Spaceballs, but the Tesla Model S Plaid is a reference to it as well. It's the fastest production car ever built with a 0-100 kmph of 1.9 seconds.
Nice!
11:06 Yes, Joan Rivers..BUT the joke "We all know prince VALIUM is a pill" is gold.
9:44 The Opening Credits Should Have Said "Don't Eat Pizza While Watching The Movie."
The Ending is a Parody to Planet of the Apes
I'm oft disturbed at how many people don't know about Prince Valiant (A long time sunday comic strip), don't know what valium is, and miss dot's pretty good joke about how he's a pill.
Great reaction! The singing alien at the end is a parody of a Loony Tunes cartoon One Froggy Evening. Great cartoon.
Thanks for watching!
"C3po meth addicted sister" Bahahahahaha ty made my day
😁
I had to stop the video. I was laughing so hard I was in tears. My stomach still hurts. Worth it.
The moving ears was John Candy's idea .
Shree, I love ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 how you aren't afraid to embrace the scatalogical and sexual humor inherent in the script. I especially about lost it when you kept asking why the radar operator from Police Academy couldn't get what he was saying out. You're hilarious 😂 😃 😄 😁 🤣 😸...love your reactions!

The nose was the wicked witch of the west reference from wizard of oz.
Pizza the Hutt is played by Dom DeLuise. While Dot is voiced by Joan Rivers. And Barf is John Candy. All no longer with us.
The Mercedes door falling on Dark Helmet was an accident. It really fell on him but they left it in for the laughs.
Haha I'm glad they kept that in :D
Another great movie starring Daphne Zuniga (Princess Vespa) is "The Sure Thing".
ILM made the effects and they got blessing from George Lucas for the movie. The merch gag is because lucas told them that they cant make any merch for this movie
if you look over the space diner parking lot scene you can see the millennium falcon parked outside
Whoa!
This is not the long spaceship we are looking for. Move along, move along. :D 😄
Thank you for another, as always, great reaction!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed 😇🙏🙏
