I can't belive he did a this cover of Lana's song. He and Lana are two of my most favorite artists. I died when I found out and died again when I listened to it. Beautiful.
i once said "Patrick Wolf and Lana Del Rey should do a duet together" because even though your styles are different in ways, they have qualities that would compliment each other in a haunting and gorgeous way. so when i saw you covered this, i was like YESSS
Sublime. And more beautiful than the original. Less self-centred than Lana's rendition, for sure. Far more empathic and beautiful. This guy isn't sitting on a golden thrown, like in the video for the original. He's sitting on a broken one, and you can hear the heartbreak in every word, every note played. A tremendous talent.
You didn't get Lana's version. She's sitting on a throne that means she belongs to world where she is supposed to behave, take care of her image, worry about society etc but what she wants to be wild and free. She wants to take walk on the wild side and kiss him hard in the pouring rain like insane.
@@RahulJainOfficial It's just a video - a bad one imo - shouldn't influence the reception to the song in any way. Lana Del Ray is a actress (a star, half-remembered, possibly forgotten, tragically dead, or maybe purely imagined??) the song is a collection of - self conscious - vintage cinematic _doomed love_ clichés. Patrick's earnest take on it is kinda interesting, but I prefer the wry contrivance of the original.
... nothing can top the original and there is no need to compare. also if you do not get the idea of original video - don't comment. Nothing about the song or video is self-centered
@@PeachPlastic He is, I saw him live like two months ago in Mexico. He told us he's working on new material. It was great ! got some photos with him at the end. I'm pretty possitive it's this year :D
@Shady Queens Leon, Guanajuato. It was super weird, cause it was the first time he visited Mexico and out of the blue (no tours, other dates, etc.). I found out on instagram and got my tickets right away. I took my siblings. It was wonderful ! small venue.. got to see him very close (10 meters). The sound people weren't great, but I'm telling you dream come true. Certainly 2020 hasn't been a good year, but taking into account this concert, it's not the worst either. I'll remember it fondly
I noticed on the website 'Sundark and Riverlight' is filled with songs we know from the previous albums. Does anybody know if they will be re-adapted in some way, or is this a 'best of' type album? :)
in my personal opnion (not that that's worth much), Lana has a fantastic voice, but I think she is slightly stronger as a composer than as a performer. I love each version for what they are, but because her songs are so powerfully unique, they call out for reinterpretation.
I've never loved this song since the song belongs to Lana Del Rey but now, I listened to the song, sang by a real artist like Patrick Wolf - I started to like it.
That isn't necessarily true. If an artist can take the words and music and express them in a way that speaks from them then the cover becomes more than just a copy e.g. Jeff Buckley- Hallelujah and Jimi Hendrix- All along the watchtower. If enough new musical expression is applied then the cover can contend to be better than the original...at least in a good proportion of people's opinion. Not saying its true for this, but you were saying in general
Actually singing live with nerves is something that takes time- it takes a few failures- unfortunately hers were public. I know that there are top artists that tour with TWO auto corrects for pitch- I don't buy that she is not a real artist- I think she's created a personae that people love and hate which I think was her whole goal. (American dream- wasted and lovely etc)
Well, I'm not sure if you've had much experience inside of the music industry or even writing your own material, but most artists usually tend to write lyrics that have a personal meaning for them. Music is a form of expression, rather than a message for the nation. If your music doesn't mean anything to you, it won't ever mean anything to anyone else. Lastly, if you actually knew how many people were involved in creating someone's career...
Pretentious head gear? Haha, no, I didn't mean it. A 'real' artist should be the one who writes lyrics that give messages, composes unique songs, becomes famous with his/her own effort and the most important thing: can be able to sing live as well as on records.
One of the prettiest covers of anyone ever.
Love when one of my favorite artists covers another one of my favorites. Very beautiful :)
This is beautiful!!! Voice of a God, everything sounds better when Patrick sings it
I can't belive he did a this cover of Lana's song. He and Lana are two of my most favorite artists. I died when I found out and died again when I listened to it. Beautiful.
I love the violin part. In general, it sounds so much more beautiful and deeper.
The instrumentals in the beginning are so amazing, that tune is perfection.
i once said "Patrick Wolf and Lana Del Rey should do a duet together" because even though your styles are different in ways, they have qualities that would compliment each other in a haunting and gorgeous way. so when i saw you covered this, i was like YESSS
lovely, delicate, beautiful piece!
Such an treasure!
I love both versions and I love both of them
I love me some Lana del Rey and I'm only a moderate Patrick Wolf fan, but by gawd this version is just fantastic

I love Lana's version, but this brings a new solemnity.
This is just amazingly good.... I am so happy i found this again! Live it sooooo mich, your voice is so amazing 😍. Enhancing the song soooooooo much
this is sooo beautiful
such a beautiful voice.

When an artist covers another's work, they are usually huge fans of it.
You didn't get Lana's version. She's sitting on a throne that means she belongs to world where she is supposed to behave, take care of her image, worry about society etc but what she wants to be wild and free. So much better than the original... Patrick Wolf is criminally underrated.

i loved your song, i love wolf song its my favorite in the world
well it's patrick's version of a 'best of' :) he re-recorded the songs as acoustic versions. which i'm sure will give them a new kind of wolf-magic.
Wonderful! Well done! :)
Love you!!
The beginning of Lana's "Born to die" reminds me the beginning of Patrick Wolf's song "Damaris" :)
this is really good.
I noticed on the website 'Sundark and Riverlight' is filled with songs we know from the previous albums. Does anybody know if they will be re-adapted in some way, or is this a 'best of' type album? :)
he's genius! ♥
Amazing.
Thanks for your existence!
K
thankyou for giving us the proper pronunciation of the words and rhythm of the wordss! lana take note!

Mi emoción es de quinceañera!!!

What is that thing on his neck? looks pretty cool but I just wonder what it is
Patrick, I want a signature from your Voice!

I've never loved this song since the song belongs to Lana Del Rey but now, I listened to the song, sang by a real artist like Patrick Wolf - I started to like it.

This isn't on the album/cd, was it a b-side or I-tunes exclusive?
fuck.. this guy is perfect
suddenly this song got a thousand times more dramatic
Wow! :O
IMHO better than the original
Who is Lana Del Rey? Did she cover this song?
Luv u 🦄💜
Yeah, I agree. It's a bit richer now isn't it?
Who cares who did it better. This is patrick's version.

Patrick gives us girls who like boys the sexy version of the song.
For a boy like him a guitar is a kalashnikov :)
Omg it's better than lana's song.
no it's not, there is nothing better than lana.
eric browne Everything is better than Lana.
Katharina Scr 😂😂
Katharina Scr go fuck yourself
Favourite part 3:10
why did human target people that are different
For me, I think it's a lot better than Lana's version ❤️
