Saw him perform the Sundark and Riverlight style tracks in a church. The acoustics for the violin and harp were just breath taking. He was absolulty brilliant interspersing his songs with poetry and a little chat. He was so shy and nervous when he first came on and apologised whenever he was tweaking instruments saying we would never come back again. So rare to find someone with so much talent so humble. He was just brilliant and this track, this version is my favourite. It's gorgeous and gives me shivers.
Lois Sadler I saw him at Union Chapel in Islington, back in December '13 for his "A Night of Winter" concert - definitely the best live music performance I've ever been to. He was a complete extrovert at that concert though, making jokes about everything from faulty computers to tea towels! Must depend what day you catch him on.
It's wonderful what a smile can hide, If the teeth shine right and it's nice and wide, It's so magical, all you can keep inside, And if you bury it deep no one can find a thing, no. So come on now, open wide, open up now. Don't you think it's time; To look back at that boy on his way to school, Such a heavy heart, such a heavy jewel. hiding something that one day he'll sell, But now if no one asks, no one tells a thing, no. So come on love, open wide, open up now, Don't you think it's time? Now after all these years you are at last opening, Was it worth all that war just to win? So caught up in the speed and the weight of your sin, Don't forget how your story begins, Don't forget now! Now I'm seeing-- all your lovers and enemies, They've been turning their keys so full of greed, All trying to see what jewel you keep, What makes it shine, what makes it mine, But I don't care. Come on now, open wide. Open up now. Don't you think it's time? Now after all these tears you are at last opening, Was it worth all that war just to win? So caught up in the speed and the weight of your sin. Don't forget how your story begins, oh! Don't forget now! Take me back to where it begins. Before the speed and weight of your sin, Come and take me back to where it begins. Before the speed and weight of your sin, Come on, take me back to where it begins, now! Is it worth all that war just to win. Hey! Come on, take me back to where it begins, Come on, open wide and let some love, in.
Dear Patrick, thank you for having restored my memories and took me back to some years before where I was happy and content. Now I remember. And I am again xxx
I adore Patrick Wolf and his lovely crew. I wish someday he would come to Kansas City *hint hint*. I have been listening to his music for years, and all of it is like ecstasy. Never stop making music!
I absolutely cannot wait for this. I never thought he could transform something already so beautiful into something so new. I love it. Even Overture feels like it has an entirely new meaning.
The original "Overture" was the first song I heard by him, and I love it with all my heart, but this version has something different and beautiful. God bless you Patrick. your music has brought so much joy into my life.
what he did in darksun&riverlight is just ..... i can't even tell how much i love it. it's the best thing he could do after ten years of being the best, the most close to my heart, artist on the earth.
i figured it out again how much i miss him even i saw him once in Istanbul. being a witness to ''things'' he has done is enought to be full of hope and jof oy life. such beauty. i ''something'' him. not ''like'', ''love'' or ''adore''. just, something.
Can't describe either! Merci Patrick, tu es un phare qui restera à jamais allumé... He has such a strong & meaningfull soul. That rearranged song brings me back to 2006 when i discovered him for the 1st time. That song is one of his gems! Je t'aime... :-)
This album still means so much to me, after all this time.
true
Missing all live music but especially Patrick. Hope when all this is over, he will tour again.
I hope so too
Sundark and Riverlight: taking beautiful songs from 2002-2012 and making them even more beautiful.
Saw him perform the Sundark and Riverlight style tracks in a church. The acoustics for the violin and harp were just breath taking. Oh i agree with every word you wrote. I also saw him on this sundark and riverlight tour back then and it was beautiful. The instruments..the voice...
I don't know why I love Patrick Wolf's music so much.... it's magical. He is so underrated...

Hey!
Come on, take me back to where it begins,
Come on, open wide and let some love, in.
Surely it's "if the teeth shine bright," not "right."
Getting Go...the Go Doc project brought me here...
Me too haaahhaah

Good.
I love this version more than the original, way more enthralling...
Dear Patrick, thank you for having restored my memories and took me back to some years before where I was happy and content. Now I remember. And I am again xxx
