I highly recommend you the ballad "lights out" by Avril Lavigne, the song was supposed to be part of her previous record but discarded in the end. It's such a magnificent ballad.
People are looking for a more mature lyrics in this album when this album is just about having fun and laughing about all the things love do to us, it will never top UMS but this album is still so cool and every sound is a banger and single-worthy. 🧡 Plus, that kinda fun, bratty, rebellious, is her thing.

YES! I still go back to your HAW video from time to time because it is SO GOOD. As to this record I was a bit disappointed, Bite Me had me really excited but the rest of the lyrics on this album are really redundant, especially after she had evolved so much in that aspect on her previous album. I'm pretty sure it will grow on me though, I love me some obnoxious bratty Avril from time to time!

As soon as Avril announced her album I was excited for your review lol. I appreciate how much care you put into listening to the songs in depth. I think it's a great album and I love its relentless energy, it feels like an aggressive burst of angsty fun lol. And I think the aesthetic of the era suits the album so well. I do miss hearing a ballad from her since she is so good at them. But I know we'll get more in the future so for now I'm happy with getting this album that's largely the same vibe throughout.

I'm glad she is getting back to her roots. She always used to be different from other artists, who sell sex over music etc. Kinda disappointed with the songwriting on Love Sux though. Lyrics are not that deep and a bit cheap. I love Avril and Under My Skin is still my favorite to this day!

As a big Avril fan I didn't like this album and I don't get how people are saying it takes them back to the 2000s, it doesn't sound nostalgic to me at all. The production sounds flat imo. The guitar riffs aren't catchy at all which is the main issue, no catchy punk guitar riffs? Cmon... All the songs sound the same. The lyrics are blehh. Avril's voice is gratting on my ears (especially in the song deja vu, the way she says: deja VUU) it sounds like an imitation or a parody of pop punk in the same way machine gun Kelly does it, I can't take them seriously. This might be Avril's worst album by far imo. Kiss me like the world is ending was my favourite
i guess she paid a tribute to all the genre itself (emo and pop punk) what i think it's awesome...she didn't get stucked only in things that she's done before, but much more what bands in that scenario did...it's an up tempo feeling record and it's about legacy
