Hey Nick, I'm looking for a training machine in 550 size at the moment. This Raptor looks exactly what I'm after :) About the flight you're doing in this vid... Is it the whole ARTF kit? Means with the motor, ESC, servos, blades, etc. thats in the box? Or do you use i.e. different servos. Do you know the headspeed of the flight (approx.)? thx
This have a belt drive tail? Sounded like it. I guess I should go look up the answer myself, lol. I would love to see the stick movements at 10:33, awesome.
yup! it's a belt drive. in this class size, belt seems the way to go 1) durability 2) it's easy to get the performance for lower repair / maintence cost without having to use a heavy gear train
Looks like another gear flying heli. But someone really needs to start redesigning those canopys on the raptors... But for 650 for an ARF I think i could get over those looks. lol but as always great flying!
Helicopter looks simply awesome, layout very cool too but damn Nick, who designed the canopy, it's seriously uggers?. Are there other canopy shape options?
I don't think he wants people to know about the GT 5 gyros. He said in the vid, " unfortunately I know nothing about the GT 5 gyros". He probably uses the GT 5.2 as his secret weapon in competitions. He crashed an auto from 5000 feet once just to derail folks into thinking he uses V bar cuz that's what it had on it. LOL! No seriously he probably did do just that. Just kidding, no seriously. LOL! All of his comp runs out and buys a V Bar and he's steadily thrashing them with his GT 5.1 at the time. Nah! Really his favorites are the Futaba GY 750 and the V Bar and he sure as hell don't need bail out. He can bail his self out of most anything unless he makes a V bar commercial LOL!.
Yeah, the cold and snow have been relentless here in the Fort. Nice flying, as usual, Nick! it's always a treat to watch you flying!!!
Beat it like you stole it!!! lol
I'm digging the split frames and belt drive.
Darnit Nick, I had my mind made up to get some other brand 550, but now after hearing you talk about this one I'm right back where I started! LOL
7 years later they still sell these and mine just showed up today! You have to order it direct from thunder tiger
Nick, I'm thinking of buying a raptop e550. where can I get a transmitter from.
SICK flying..
With hobbico not supplying thunder tiger anymore, where is the best place we can get parts for the e550 or any thunder tiger product?
was that video with the stock motor and the talon 90?

What did you do to set up the gt5.2? Are there any resources available for guidance?

My opinion Thunder Tiger Raptor E550 the best helicopter for the beginner.
Is the E550 light enough to fly 6S 4000 packs? Or are you locked into 5000?
You flying this on 10cell nick? Looks to powerful for a single 6cell pack

Dam Nick great flying it should be against the law to fly so well!
I am saving for this puppy 😁
Looks to fly sooo much lighter than the original Raptor 550E yet looks the same with the canopy on

Are you using the GT5 in this video?
