Good morning from California☀️... I just realized I love the mugs and the sipping of coffee part☕😂I'm a coffee addict. Coffee makes me sleep and relax😁
Those lettuce wraps look good and then I saw the tofu. What's wrong with duck?
That video-release-pace is insane! Great, Randy! Good job!
Well someone once said if you're going to do something. Do it.
@@cheapaudioman .. and you did!
@@cheapaudioman I hate small
speakers that sound smsll. Which budget speaker is the best at avoiding this trap? Nuemi ? Micca?
For the past couple months I've had the powered speaker version (Jamo S 801 PM) hooked up to my Mac Mini M1 via USB. They're fantastic for near-field listening! The built-in DAC is capable of 24-bit/96kHz with both optical and USB and the built-in 50 watt amplifier is more than sufficient for these speakers. I highly recommend these speakers especially at their sale price.
I have been looking for a review of those speakers, I am currently between those and the klipsch r-41pm.
Hey, I'm about to get them for my PC... Can you tell me what the "Loud" button does on the remote? Does it boost the bass? Thanks!
The Jamo S801's are $109, $119 & $139 on Zon today July 19, 2022. They're $79.99 on Woot today.
Many thanks for the content. I've never really bothered with decent stuff (and it could be argued I still haven't) but you've inspired me to get a pair of Jamo S801 speakers with a Fosi Audio BT30D Amp and to reduce E waste re use my old HTC 10 phone which was known for it's standard alone 24 bit DAC.
EDIT: I actually went with JBL A130s as they dropped to £179 - very happy :P
Thanks for reviewing stuff for us "poor" folks Randy. 🤜
The glasses. Every time I see with those glasses, I pay much more attention. They do make people smarter so, get more or a lot larger to help the channel burst through with new subs. Seriously, another fantastic review and I want a pair but. I only have so many rooms in my house. And one last comment, the list of components and their price point is spot on.
I have these as my rear surrounds and absolutely love them
Thanks for the nice review, Randy. This is such a competitive price point that knowing what you get is so important. The 5 speaker set seems like the real deal.
Wanting to add some powered monitors in a couple of rooms. Simple setup, Songbird streamer to a pair of powered monitors, drive if from Roon. Picked up a pair of Jamo 801PMs and a pair of Klipsch R15PMs. Klipsch sound like they're coming from inside a culvert compared to the Jamos, and the Jamos were cheaper.
Guess the Kilpsch are going to the kitchen, I'll keep the Jamo 801's in my office, thanks :D
these speakers are fucking SEXY and very warm sounding. would recommend
I use Jamo S801 pm (integrated DAC/AMP) as my PC desktop speakers (for music and everything else) and I'm quite pleased with the performance. Even the DAC (USB and S/PDIF) sounds nice.
Hey, I'm about to pull the trigger on these for my PC. Can you tell me about the "Loud" button on the remote? Does it boost bass (sometimes I like to boost bass).
Thanks!
@@lukastemberger Yes, the loudness button does boost low and high frequencies for when you listen at low volume, just like on any other amplifier. EDIT If you want more bass, use your audio source EQ or get a subwoofer.
@@philipcooper8297 I'll be using it on a PC and don't want to deal with EQs. It's more for video editing/ simple mixing. I have a Sony 5.1 system for when I want to enjoy music...
I'm asking just to see if the Loud creates a U curve or just increases overall gain.
@@lukastemberger I tried several scenarios (PC via USB; flat EQ), with LOUD on and off and I'd say it adds gain, but as you go louder with the volume it goes away pretty much immediately. It's only for the very low volume listening. These are 4'' woofer speakers afterall. EDIT: The loud button does not affect the treble.
They were not exactly bad but I had to return them for a few reasons. Firstly, there was a very noticeable noise floor, and it shuts itself off too soon. And the price ($180?) didn't match my expectations in relation to sound quality, but price doesn't really determine actual sound quality anyway. They just were okay for the money, nothing special but with some small problems. Returned them and now I use Elac Debut B6.2s for my desk and they sound infinitely better, especially in the bass and upper highs. They are powered by my Aiyima A08 Pro which is using the pre-out of my iFi Zen DAC. Glad I upgraded.
Jamo, Yamo, seems great for a small room, on the desk type of set up. Also, don't look half bad either Cheapaudioman.
Definitely have used your wisdom in purchases in the past to positive results so I am grateful for everything you make! But may I ask, why never any sound samples?
Review machine !!!!!! Love the content. Makes me feel I have all the hifi equipment 😂. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Appreciate that
Any experience with the powered version of these... they’re $150 on crutchfield so $50 cheaper than AE 1s or Kanto Yu2s... thoughts?
I just bought a pair of 803s yesterday based completely on your review. You're the best.
How do you like them?
Very nice, heavy sound. Good bass and full sound. Very pleased.
The S801 in a small bedroom/office with the SMSL SA300 SDB tone circuit engaged are outstanding. like NHT Super Zero WITH bass...they DO take moderate bass bost while retaining tight and punchy notes...imaging off the charts good too
This is the exact video I was looking for, thanks Randy 🤘🏻
When you pour coffee to your mug around the 40 seconds ish, that was the moment I realized how good my speaker was (Edifier s2000 mkiii)
I ordered Jamo twice and both times the arrived all smashed up in the box. I do have 2 Jamo 10" subs. I will continue using my acoustic research AR-16 that I purchased in 1976.
Great Review and information!
As an entry level speaker how do they compare to the entry level Sony SS-CS5?
Super Duper awesome review, thank you very much! Your mike came in loud and clear
Thanks for reviewing these Randy! I just got a great deal on a 'renewed' set of these on Amazon for $88!
@@razorone2299 Indeed! I've purchased several 'open' items/blemished items from Crutchfield too in the past
@@razorone2299 Thanks for these tips! I'll keep 'em in mind! : )
@cheapaudioman .. good question, what coffee do you actually drink?
Was about to pull the trigger on the R-41 down to $129 a pair on Amazon when I saw this. As for the thermos, I couldn't even find the rusty pliers you promoted when I went to Home Depot. In fact when I told them where I heard it they wondered if you were having some kind of psychiatric emergency, But the Jamos look good.
Got these for formal living room. They are pretty good specially for 67$ amazon refurbished. Only flaw is a little bubble in the vinyl
"coffee transportation system" I love it! LOLOL
Someone should start a Klipsch free channel. Maybe a Kef one as well.
You completely dropped me when you threw that warrant "joke" 😜 + Diamond Rhetorics 👌🏻
Wondering how they would stack with SMSL DA-9, they are really inexpensive (used). Building a dektop set up. Other option in a good price (1\3 more expensive) would be klipsch R51M - would You recommend S801 over the 51M?
This guy is awesome!
I appreciate the review, ok. I ended up going with these for surrounds 807 towers and 801 center, ok. I got the big brother c912 sub rather than the tiny one that's meant for this system, ok. Overall pretty happy and feel I got a lot of bang for my buck, ok.
Jamo has some nice looking speakers. Stanley's is fighting the good fight against the snowflakes. 🤘
Randy, how do you feel about the JAMO S801 PM ? It's been 2 years since your review. $179.00 on Crutchfield ?
thinking of getting these as my main desktop speakers, you think these are the best i can find for this price tag? They cost 140 euro here.
If I'm looking for a quiet HT 3.1 apartment setup after buying the 5 pack and an S808 sub, would you recommend using the S803s or the S801s? A lot of people said the 803s overpower the S81 center channel and upgrade to the S83, so I feel like going with the S801s, S81 and S808 but it feels weird leaving the better speakers in the closet
(Stanley - coffee carrier for men!!!) - 😆 😆 😆 Totally agree. Great content!!! Keep having fun.
Hi Randy, between the JAMO S801 and the JBL STAGE 120 which do you recommend. Greetings from Argentina.
I just ordered a pair of these on ebay for $89.99. I will be powering these with a Douk Audio 320 Watt amp, also purchased from ebay. This amp uses the TDA7498E chip, so hopefully I will get some decent performance out of it. Now to find a pair of speaker stands...
wow 90 usd is a steal i would instant get them for that price, they are 140 euro where i live, im still thinking about it, its a lot of money for me.
Have you tested out the powered version of the S801?
Hi Randy, do you have a Klipsch R-41M review on the way or did I miss it? Thanks for the scoop on the S801's.
Do you think the JBL A-130's are the best speaker bang for the buck compared to all those you mention in this video?
Klipsch is just selling Jamos as Klipsch speakers now with the KD line of speaker but the are more expensive.
Hi. I'm going to buy these speakers and also "Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohm" is coming to me. I'm a complete beginner in this business and don't know much about amplifiers at all. I'm looking for a "all-in-one" (amp + dac) and under $200 (it would be great if the amp has a remote control and bluetooth). Do you have any advice? Thanks.
I'm considering buying computer speakers, I'm wondering about Fluance Ai41 vs jamo s 801 powered speakers which will be a better choice? Or I'm thinking about buying a jamo s801 + some small amplifier, e.g Fosi Audio BT30D Pro
I like your style dude !
To my ears on Crutchfield's website the Klipsch sounded more open to my ears than it's Jamo counterparts. Jamo product looks better with the wood cabinets but Klipsch sounds better to me.
Good speakers for a hundred bucks! How do they do it?
BTW I just read another rave review of the BC Acoustique EX214 integrated amp. I think it sells for under/around $500 in the US. Right up your alley. I plan on checking it out myself to see how it compares to the NAD 316BEE
Which speaker would be the best in this price range for great mid range?
Crankin out another great review 👍
Hey Randy,
Awesome review as always 😁
Can you please try get your hands on the Wharfedale Lintons. I would love to hear your thoughts on them. I know they are a bit more expensive than your usual content but I think they are built according to there price and not some boutique product.
Thanks
So is this and equivalent center a step above a r41m pair and a r52C? I got both for 300$
Your reviews are good !!, but would be better- if you do short sound demo of speakers after your assessment,, So perspective buyers can get a clue as to what your referring too. I believe its a good suggestion & I believe others would agree.
Damn Fine review, with some damn fine coffee.
I’m contemplating between Jamo S801 without the woofer) and Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (with the woofer) for my computer. Which one would u recommend ??
I have both if you would like my opinion of both . I am about to take my car to the shop . I can give you the rundown on both if you are still interested , when I have more time
@@lebowskiunderachiever3591 I already bought the pro media since it came with a woofer and were meant for the Computer ! But thanks !!
Can the Klipsch and Jamo speakers be use like studio monitors?
Hi Jamo s801 using it for soundround, should I set it 80,90, 100 or 120 ?
I feel click baited, you did not mention the Klipsch R41M one time.
Mod the crossover, worth it just for the speaker encloser.
Great coffee mug
What are your thoughts on these as atmos height channels?
I have an 8 x 12 room and I am trying to upgrade my Klipsch speakers, if I decided to not go with this one, what would be the next step up, that’s the same size
Dali Spektor 1 vs Jamo S801 vs Klipsch r-41m? .We need a comparison of best 4" 1/2 speakers 😊
Pioneer spbs22lr are midrange masters.
Pioneer Easily has the best 4" woofer of them all, considering a tweeter swap on those net you a 300-400$ sound.
This is coming from someone who owns elac reference speakers which happen to do midrange nearly identical to the pioneer.
Would you take these or the S803s?
No. 803’s unless you have very limited space or are on a desk top
Why don’t the RB-42s make your list since everything seems to be referenced to them?
Good Question.
These video titles are starting to give the impression that you have a Klipsch shaped chip on your shoulder :p
Like the vids Randy.
Klipsch deserve every bit of it. Most dishonest speaker company in buisness today.
@@TonicofSonic Go ahead and give me an example and fact to back that claim. Please don't talk about price fluctuations.
How do they compare to the jbl stage a130?
Do you think the day of system audio is coming. For example take a canon camera with a canon lens. The lens is designed with certain characteristics and compromises. The canon camera will recognize the canon lens and automatically adjust in firmware to correct shortcomings and compromises. Out of the camera you're getting a processed image rather than a purely optical image. Apply the concept to speaker amp integration where any tone or sound signature is possible within the physical limits of the device. We're starting to see some of this but mainly thru third party products. Imagine emotiva or pioneer or such applying to a whole line of products. Perhaps programmable crossovers in the speaker or other processing tricks beyond simple tone controls. Want warm - you got it, want bright - you got it all from the same box. With perhaps established settings to go with each song on a playlist. The day will come I think.
Some stuff is going that way with powered monitors. There’s a great John Darko video about I think the Buchard powered speakers that have different “tunes” you can upload. It already exists but its mostly a headphone thing right. Is with Sony and other BT headphones having apps that one tailors the sound to taste. You can minidsp speakers already but there are certain “flavors” that different drivers will exhibit that can’t be reproduced with any digital stuff. Will be interesting to see where the market moves
@@cheapaudioman Drivers now are designed and utilized to impart a certain flavor to. a box. In the future drivers may be designed to be "flexible" to enable them to take on different flavors. No doubt we'll miss the days when it took a real artist to craft a speaker with a classic sound.
@@geezer5236 ha. Yeah. You know with everything old becoming new I think that maybe we’ll see a digital shift and then back to analog crossovers. Either way, I’m going to love every minute of it.
Can you recommend the Jamo S 803 Black ?👍🌹✨🎈
Randy, a question -- how many hours of "breaking in" (or to translate for non-audiophile civilians, listening) do you usually do before reviewing speakers?
Oh no. Is Randy in trouble with the law? The cheap audio renegade.
the coffee spills suggest we needed a few takes?
Do these come with a remote?
Thanks!
But way worse than the Klipsch RP-41s (the "P" stands for POWERED) as they also control the crossover of a sub and have separate control with remote. Has on board DAC so accepts optical, digital coaxial, USB (and analog).
Are you talking about the R-41PM’s? Pretty sure it’s RP-400’s, 500’s etc. good to know they sound good through if we’re thinking of the same thing.
Rp the p stands for premier
would you say these compare to Klipsh´s the fives?
"Between Two Jamos"
I’m here in Far East Russia sitting in my mom’s house with North Korea view. So hi to everybody!
Randy need your advice:
Kef q150 ~ 300$
Wharfedale diamond 320 ~ 250$
Dali Spector 2 ~ 250$
What do you think?
The Dali Spector is a stellar pair of speakers.
@pikithekid I cannot say. They're just great. And it's hard to ask for a better speaker for the price
Thx randy . SSBN 616 - Lafayette vet , machinist mate nuke ELT here . Kerry Armes from CSS Audio also an officer sub vet. Did you get the Tidal vets discount? I just emailed the DD-214. Take care
How’s the Ph, conductivity, degas gross activity, and what does your TLD read? Make sure you check your SIPD periodically. SSBN 733 Nevada. Underway ELT for two patrols. Kerry is sending me some speakers. Small world, brother. Didn’t know Tidal had a vets discount. Great to know. Emotiva has one as well.
Maintaining reef aquarium chemistry theses days- no zoomies. Enjoy the speakers. Used to take Sony cassette Walkman on patrols.
Are you in denton county tx?
Did that red light camera really happened to you or you speaking hypothetically?
How does it sound when paired with a sub?
OK so how are they better than the R41M's?
Hope you get that warrant worked out, Randy!
I like it how you say YEAHMOH. Kenwood ls k 711
I was planning to get the powered version 801PM, but heard so many reviews that the vinyl wrap wasn't well done and would start pealing very quickly and also that the amps had a high failure rate. So I think I'll get the Kanto YU4/YU instead.
Not sure what you ended up with, but I haven't seen any pealing on my speakers. The Jamo S 801 PM are great sounding speakers.
Hopefully they're durable long-term.
I appreciate you.
And another bashing video at Klipsch... Man your going hard!
I wonder why.
Please review the Dali Oberon 1s🙏
Anyone know How does these compare to the powered version?
Video title doesn't match the content. There isn't a single mention of how these Jamo speakers are even marginally (let alone "WAY") better than the Klipsch.
If such a cheap speaker can sound so good, then shouldn't one 4/5 times as much sound fantastic?
You would think so but it doesn’t always work that way.
How do I get this speaker connected to my MacBook?
Get an amp. Class D amp works best on a desk setup
There's a powered version with an amp integrated. It has a P in the name. You can connect it to a computer over optical, USB or a 3.5' jack.
3 months for free and doesn’t cost anything. Are two different things.
Set of 5 costs $230. Great deal.
Please review usher s-520
does that mean that Jamo S803 are better than Klipsch R-51M?
yes
Dali spektor 1 cost in danmark less than 200 euros
Nice. I like the Dali’s.
@@cheapaudioman I was lucky to get a white pair for 188 euros with free shipping (normally there is shipping added to the 188 euros), to me they can actually compete with a pair of B&W 607 anniversary edition and are tremdous value for money but need a Rotel a11 tribute (75 rms peak 105watt according to reviews) or just 2x100 watt or more peak power in 8 ohm or above 60 watt rms in 8 ohm.
just so that $250 is less than 188 euros but still fantastic value for money, even less in uk 159 pounds which is 220 dollars, which just is more impressive since they sound good and with a powerfull higher end amp you get surprisingly amount of power (spl)
Audio shouldn't cost more then drunken birthday night out with the boys at a local strip club.
FuK Yeah RANDY
