My theory for why buildings so far out of bounds have collision like this is that, since they had to build such a massive city, backdrop included, they just made a bunch of building models with collision just in case, and copy pasted them wherever they needed to
Idk what Dice was thinking making the map as small as it is. I would have loved to do some really long jumps across more buildings. Kind of sad that they didn’t put any collision on 99% of the streets, but all of this stuff way outside the map has collision
yeah :( the rest of the map that is inaccessible seems much bigger. makes me wonder why would they put such a big map if it is not available. only like ~30% of the existing map is where u can actually move around. plus they mentioned Greylands which is like a completely different area. If not a third game, I really hope they make a dlc or an update or something..
If anything, the OOB bits of Catalyst look more like the original mirror's edge than the regular map. In the first game it was almost all plain white buildings with grey windows / fans. The only colour was indoors or in construction bits. I like the first game's aesthetic better. Also, if the catalyst map was 13x bigger, I would be very happy as this is about the size of the visible map anyway. I mean look at this image: cdn.pbrd.co/images/1chxrdAu.png
I find it so interesting how the game has objects like wall running boards with footprints, air conditioners, and even the poles you can grab. Yet they are so far out of bounds. What a beautiful game

Mateusz Felix yea I play mirrors edge almost daily actually, and the community is a fairly active considering the games age. Every day someone posts something about it on the reddit. And a new mirrors edge game would be awesome, especially there is so much potential since catalyst has so much lore and such an amazing city. I honestly cant describe how happy I would be if they would make a new one. Lets hope dice and EA realizes how much potential the game has and makes a new one :)
That is nuts. It's crazy how much you can do in this game by abusing all of the movement mechanics it offers. Like here, you're using almost every trick in the book to get that far. Its so easy to accidentally get out of bounds by just trying to explore. I wonder why they even bothered adding collision to a lot of those buildings that you can barely even see. Maybe they had a lot of buildings presets with collision and just sprinkled them around to fill the city. Also I like how he puts Beat LE's that far out, as if anyone else is going to go exploring that far and stumble across them lol. Maybe people that watched this video and want to see for themselves. But just looking at all the tricks he used to get there, I just know it would take me hours to get that far, can't even be bothered.
5:18 jump is not possible. I’ve been trying for 30 mins, idk how the fuck you did it first try, idk if it’s patched or not- but it’s not possible. Point blank period. Faith always falls to her death no matter what. Whatever invisible wall you grabbed, is not there in my game. I’ve done some pretty crazy jumps and climbs in this game after hundreds of tries, but this, this is simply not possible. Cool find though.
It's been 2 years but I'll try again next time I boot up the game. The video never said anything about coiling or crouching and it looked like he literally did a simple jump so I thought it was as easy as that.
Haven't tried it myself but yeah looks like coil jump. You can reach higher ledges. Also there are a lot of cuts in the video, presumably he failed a lot of these jumps multiple times before he got it right.

you have to coil after the jump
I think you're not "crouching" in middle air so she's able to grab higher places. It's a very simple glitch you're forgetting
