The question that I have is... will that work when the aggressor is utilizing his right hand versus just staying limp like the video. Typically punches, head control or a body hug is occurring along with the aggressor driving you back. Put it in action with heavy contact with pads and see if it works then. Don’t try it in real life until you do.
A good point to make in this case is, like everything else, needs to be practiced. If you find yourself in this situation you don't want to be trying to remember what you need to do. It has to happen fast.
What do you do if the other guy is actually fighting you and not just letting you take him down? And this isnt common for ccw holders since cc actually stands for concealed carry, witch means they wouldnt see it. Also good/smart ccw holders dont get into confrontations so this TIP should be for law enforcement only.
+bigbbadnoobian This video is not pointless....it is for demonstration purpose so you can learn the technique...after this video he will show how this technique that your supposed to learn slowly works.
Are you new to self defense? Check out PDN's channel for a intro to self defense basics if you are, that should clear things up. Weapon retention is an intermediate skill, not a beginners.
So I've been training BJJ for 2-3 months now and I have a question that I feel my trainer/teacher didn't fill in with his answer. he says that we should only fight if someone attacks first, but if someone pulls a knife on me or something like that do you guys think it's okay to engage a fight in self-defence because you're feeling threatened? I feel like just if I feel threatened I should be able to fight someone in Self-defence, without it being wrong.
As a BJJ guy for many years (2010)...who carries concealed and practices self defense as well as reads the law as a hobby on the topic? I have a few things that you should know. 1) BJJ against a knife is a VERY bad idea. VERY BAD. Especially BJJ that involves essentially no Judo. It isn't a self defense art. Not really. Not unless it is a backup to something ELSE that doesn't emphasize dealing with weapons and striking and so on. 2) As far as the law goes? In the United States it is state by state BUT...if someone pulls a knife on you that is considered a threat of Lethal Force and you are within your rights to not only engage them, but kill them. You could provide me your state and I could better assist you with that information. In the State of Florida you are clear to shoot and kill an attacker with a knife. You also do not have a duty to retreat. 3) Back to the knife: it requires closing the distance and if that is your concern you need to take an art that emphasizes fighting against the knife. Something that recognizes that most knife attacks start by grabbing ahold of you and pulling you and shanking you with the other arm. Knives are scary.
My stepdads stepdad ( I know this is crazy sounding) trains kids at a boxing gym, I have nothing to do this summer besides football, would it be wise to take up boxing even if I don't want to go to competition
I like the face grab to drop the guy. Sucks for LEOs because I personally as a CCW would just go for the throat with a hip check and choke him out from that point. Cool video.
Awesome man, big fan ever since I found you man but just was curious if you could upload more stuff like this as in pressure points? I know its not stuff where like you hit a spot and they go down bc its never that easy in a street fight but stuff like the hand pressure point? I know the kidneys ears and eyes are weak just I was looking for something that would disable them from walking/moving or something?
just wondering, what if the suspect is on drugs or whatever and doesnt respond to pain compliant techniques or is just unresponsive to preasurpoints like some are....
Hey Shane, lovin the videos, been a huge fan for a long time! Question. How would I kick the habit of bending over too low when fighting? For example I always throw a combo but I have this rythm that naturally makes me bend low or move my head as if Im slipping a punch. I realize having a rythm can put me at a disadvantage, ESPECIALLY when doing mma because it leaves me open for kicks, knees, etc. How would I avoid this constant motion?
Hey everyone i have a question, i wanna be a really good boxer and i wanted to ask is it enough to go to a boxing class 3 times per week to be a really good boxer and i also train 3 other days a week in bodyweight exercices like push ups pull ups chin ups dips squats and other bodyweight exercices like that
If you want to be really good then you just need to do as much as you possibly can in all areas but remember rest is when you grow stronger even with speed and cardio. But for sure as long as your going the classes you'll get a lot better
+Tucker Rhodes That has nothing to do with "safe use and holstering" if someone attacks someone else and takes their gun. To claim that the one attacked is legally liable for the attacker's misuse of their firearm demonstrates a massive misunderstanding of the concept of personal responsibility. Anyone who advocates for such legal liability is no better than the idiots who claim gun manufacturers should be held liable for the criminal misuse of their products. Ideas like these are a symptom of the ridiculousness of our current legal system, and the person's statement I referenced is about trying to cover one's ass as best as possible from the misuse of that system by overzealous attorneys who only care about making money.
philosopher299792458 Then why are parents of children who accidentally shoots themselves or another always viewed as being responsible? Because it was their duty to keep that weapon safe and away from people who are not supposed to use it. The same thing applies to a criminal making a play for it. What you are thinking about is liability and not responsibility. The proper use of a firearm is your responsibility, but the criminal is liable for collateral damage or harm. It's just legal wordplay using words that would normally have the same meaning in normal conversation. The law is meticulous like that.
+Tucker Rhodes The child situation you referenced is obviously different from being attacked and having your weapon taken against your will. You're not liable or responsible for the misuse of your weapon in that case.
philosopher299792458 I wasn't clear in my last post on responsibility and liability. My fault. What I was trying to say the legal gun carrier is responsible for the safe use and carry of the weapon. That is all that they are responsible for. If a bystander is shot or property is damaged the legal gun owner is not responsible for that, but instead, the criminal is. Because someone was harmed or property was damaged, the criminal is liable. The legal gun owner will not have criminal charges brought up on them. What the instructor was implying with responsibility of the firearm is that, worst case scenario, you'll have your CCW suspended if you're a civilian, or you'd have to go through some sort of remedial training if you're in a security type of profession. There would be some sort of legal consequence, but not a criminal one.
Shane I know this sounds like a sad story but I still want to tell you So I have been subscribed to your Chanel for 3 months now I got a lot of tips from them But I found out about your website so I wanted a membership so bad so I asked my parents and they wouldn't let me buy it I begged them but still said no So now I'm missing on all your awesome tips I really don't know what to do (I'm from the Netherlands ) Btw sorry for weird name I named this when I was younger and don't know how to change it lol
This thumb squeeze technique sounds dumb. How will it cause the hand to "go to jelly" ? Mechanically it won't open the hand so is it supposed to rely on pain to do the job cause anyone fighting for a gun won't care how hard their hands or nipples are being pressed, they aren't going to let go.
nice tips but i don't think it works very well cause in this explanation video the attacker uses only 1 hand, while forcing him to get his hand of your weapon he could punch you in your ribs.
kenwin916 are you trolling lol. He said at the end. Next week I'll show you what to do when the guy doesnt let you do the move, or something to that extent.
Terrible tactics here. This is a lethal force situation. Once you get control of the arm grabbing the gun you should be attacking him. Knees to the groin, left hand fingers in the eyes, or left hand / forearm strikes to the head / neck (or maybe accessing a knife with your left hand). What about his left hand? You are doing nothing from preventing that from hitting you. The take down is not going to work in a disparity of force situation.
madarrauchiha1 I'm far from a SJW and I agree. Cops are not being oppressed, they are thugs in costumes. It's incumbent upon the average person to learn this kind of stuff to protect themselves whether they're dealing with normal terrorists or the constumed type that leach off the taxpayer.
I was thinking this, with all the cops pulling guns maybe show how not to get shot by a cop, maybe not taking the cops gun but dodging bullets or avoiding getting your teeth smashed out when being detaind
The question that I have is... will that work when the aggressor is utilizing his right hand versus just staying limp like the video. Doodleduderocks yeah. Then this vid is pointless.
Doodleduderocks So this vid is for a situation where someone grabs for a concealed gun they dont know you have without putting up a fight? Got it.
I've been trying to find that pressure point near the thumb on my own hand and I can't find where its located
Excellent video for CCW.
when will you be able to do a vid with Fight smart trav?
Hey Can you make a Video on "How to hit the double end bag" ?
So I've been training BJJ for 2-3 months now and I have a question that I feel my trainer/teacher didn't fill in with his answer. he says that we should only fight if someone attacks first, but if someone pulls a knife on me or something like that do you guys think it's okay to engage a fight in self-defence because you're feeling threatened? This made me laugh my ass off! Thanks for the answer, lad!
+Joe McGovern bjj is for cage and some street fight but bjj isn't for streetfights where they can pull your hair poke your eyes grab your shirt pants
Absolutely mate, our instructor always championed attacking first, maybe go in with an elbow into safety clinch or something

Great video Shane, keep up the good work
Does the attacker fall asleep standing after touching the gun? Cuz it kind of looks that way in training.
what is the tool he uses at the end?
What about a standing kimura? That should work as well.
Shane, do you think you could do a video on best mma/boxing brands for people with a low budget? and their best gloves?
RDX
Thanks

Three times a week is plenty to become a proficient boxer. I did only one day a week for two years and still got pretty good.
+Perry Tate ok nice and thanks for answering

Dude.. Just shave that little strip on your head, lol
finally,thanks for the teaching 👍
great video! :)

@1:54, in a situation like this, if someone forcibly takes your gun, you're not responsible if they shoot it and injure/kill someone else.
Legally, in most states, you would be. The safe use and holstering of your weapon is your responsibility.
+Tucker Rhodes That has nothing to do with "safe use and holstering" if someone attacks someone else and takes their gun. hard for most people from that angle to grab the gun with their 3 action holsters.
Last time I came this early you were born

I really don't know what to do (I'm from the Netherlands )
Btw sorry for weird name I named this when I was younger and don't know how to change it lol
this is great because a lot of times people end up being victims of there own weapon for example being shot with there own firearm by an attacker
Why is the black guy the bad one?
+patryk woloch. Ikr
+Fred Bill shut up you white fuck
Why did you have to turn it racial?
Maybe the guy who demostrate is fuckin evil and the other guy is a hero who want to put him down with his own gun
Why should the WHITE one be BAD? Ur kinda judging either way...
Cool stuff :)
Do how to fight like ROMAN REIGNS
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
What if they're reaching for something else....😉
well obviously when they reach for your mums snack, it will release a special serum that will deter the attacker
Why do I see you every where

BG will take back without even thinking about it.
That one dude looks like Rogan back in the day when he had hair
nice notorious B.I.G. shirt
I'm early.... is this good?
+@AllOutStriking lol yet we still use it in combat
hahhahahaha that moment whern you have 3 days in police academy and they need to make a random excercise video
nice tips but i don't think it works very well cause in this explanation video the attacker uses only 1 hand, while forcing him to get his hand of your weapon he could punch you in your ribs.
I wonder why the attacker uses his weak hand and grabbing a gun in front....request for demo on gun grabbed from behind
why are you giving up your back ?
So basically your saying join a class and get some experience as most of those moves aren't for beginners
Yep
So, who on here has actually had to fight on the street to retain a firearm in the holster? That's all I wanna know...
Yeah...but who tries to take your gun with their LEFT hand? Unless that's the dominant hand.
+hieu401 guess that makes sense
I've been in 3 serious scenarios in my life. The bad guy was never a Black man. 😂😂😂
but that other arm is free, the guy stealing the gun could just palm strike the law officer's ribs
watch the whole video, especially the end. *facepalm*
+Mad Mellon i did, clearly the right arm is free
kenwin916 are you trolling lol. He said at the end. Next week I'll show you what to do when the guy doesnt let you do the move, or something to that extent.

Am I the only one laughing at the fact they got a black guy to do this?
