Is that there fault that he was spooked and didn't have enough room? Kevin shouldn't you have given them a bigger area/tank? If they had a larger area wouldn't that have prevented the issue?
I'm curious about something regarding stingrays. I've always heard that they need to be in round tanks, so why are your rays all in square and rectangular tanks instead?
To me it seems that if they are reacting this way you need to change their comfort level it has to be miserable to live in a laundry basket or a small tank as it is do something to make their lives more worthwhile they might not want to kill each other so much
We tend to anthropomorphize animals and think if something would bore us then it would bore them or if we would be cramped so would they. This is especially true to those in the fish keeping and reptile communities. Ball pythons are happy in tiny hides where they can't be reached by other predators yet people who own them put all of these bizarre things in their enclosures so that it looks good to humans but the snake doesn't care about it. If it even remotely thought like us it would probably wonder what the hell that plastic thing is that looks like a tree. Stingrays don't read news papers or books, don't surf the web. Their goals are to eat and live.
@@tiffanyl4829 actually that's not necessarily true we do those things to keep them active it keeps them curious and have constant excersices. a lot of the things I put in my snake tank also helps humidity better, like adding eco earth its soft yes but besides that I find it helps keep moisture better when needed and dries off when not needed . same for adding moss around her water dish keeps moister and keeps her active. Weather they care is not so much a problem as so much it keeps them moving and not stay stagnant to long. But I digress that dosen't matter when he breads those animals , they will eventually go to a good home so there for now is not long term either way.
Thanks Kevin, I'm learning more and more about rays every day. I've seen them here in Port Phillip in Melbourne Australia, but not kept, so it's very interesting. Keep up the great work you do.
Hey Kevin, Subscribed to you and "hurricane Rod" lol Why don't you clip all the rays barbs when they are young to avoid issues like this or so you don't have to clip them to ship? Do they just grow back to fast?
How would you feel living in a basket or tank so barren and so smallyou can't even move stress stress they will hurt each other in this sad cruel basket
Think it’s time for you to get rid of some of your older baskets and get some new ones. I saw one that was filthy. And why not drain the dirty water first, then clean the grime off the tank while the water is out, so that way the filter doesn’t have to do so much work and will last longer?? Idk, just makes more sense to do it that way to me...
75-80% water change that's crazy i didn't realize that big of a water change was capable on these guys without the chance of shocking them. I guess if your water temp was spot on you'd be ok? I been doing weekly 25-30% water changes and all my rays are just fine but now I'm wondering if it's enough.
Don't they need more room ? They are kool and their designs never seen anything like it . Just seems sad they have no room and nothing to do aren't they more active in the wild ?
Why wait for the filter to clean up the scrubbed tank water if your just gonna dump and refill anyway ??? Seems pointless clogging your filter unnecessarily. Scrub, dump, refill and let the filter take up the tiny bit that’s left / much faster and cleaner. OR Don’t waste water, flock and screen and get crystal clear water without the water exchange
I was kinda shocked when you said those 3 albinos or cream colored Ray's been living in that basket all their lives. It was to keep them separated from the adult male which would pick on them with many species of fish and animal you have to keep younger ones temporarily separated till they get large enough that the older ones wont try and harm them.
@@jase123111 Maybe if you learned to read or listen to the video you would know it was temporary till they were larger its literally no different then when you put a partition in a tank to keep baby fish away from the adults. I like that you aren't afraid to admit mistakes and own up. Alot of people in the animal breeding industry dont own up when something is wrong.
Keep up the good work Kevin and I'm glad you show good and bad sides to the hobby, it's an awesome way for all of us to learn

Why are there no rocks or anything in the tank? Just wondering

Hi Kevin your tanks are crystal clear. Those snow sting rays are beautiful. I wish I had a tank for one of them.
You kept saying glass? I thought those were acrylic tanks/ what cleaner are you using?
At 4:05 i see u have the small black digital thermometer, make sure yours is accurate cause mines were not and several ppl on youtube had same issue.

Those tanks seem kinda small for those rays i seen huge rays like the size of human toddler in a huge tank thats like 100ft on all sides
then why are they breeding?

No, it's harden cartilage like bone with no nerve endings, the rays wouldn't feel a thing
