  • Today we are doing tank maintenance and something horrible happens. The stingrays get startled and someone gets hurt. I end up clipping the barbs so it cant happen again.
Center for Stingray Biology is the largest commercial breeder for freshwater stingrays in the United States. We breed the most popular and sought after stingrays in the aquarium hobby. If you are looking to add a stingray to your aquarium, look no further!

To me it seems that if they are reacting this way you need to change their comfort level it has to be miserable to live in a laundry basket or a small tank as it is do something to make their lives more worthwhile they might not want to kill each other so much

We tend to anthropomorphize animals and think if something would bore us then it would bore them or if we would be cramped so would they. This is especially true to those in the fish keeping and reptile communities. Ball pythons are happy in tiny hides where they can't be reached by other predators yet people who own them put all of these bizarre things in their enclosures so that it looks good to humans but the snake doesn't care about it. If it even remotely thought like us it would probably wonder what the hell that plastic thing is that looks like a tree. Stingrays don't read news papers or books, don't surf the web. Their goals are to eat and live.

@@tiffanyl4829 actually that's not necessarily true we do those things to keep them active it keeps them curious and have constant excersices. a lot of the things I put in my snake tank also helps humidity better, like adding eco earth its soft yes but besides that I find it helps keep moisture better when needed and dries off when not needed . same for adding moss around her water dish keeps moister and keeps her active. Weather they care is not so much a problem as so much it keeps them moving and not stay stagnant to long. But I digress that dosen't matter when he breads those animals , they will eventually go to a good home so there for now is not long term either way.

And why not drain the dirty water first, then clean the grime off the tank while the water is out, so that way the filter doesn’t have to do so much work and will last longer?? Idk, just makes more sense to do it that way to me...

Why wait for the filter to clean up the scrubbed tank water if your just gonna dump and refill anyway ??? Seems pointless clogging your filter unnecessarily. Scrub, dump, refill and let the filter take up the tiny bit that’s left / much faster and cleaner. OR Don’t waste water, flock and screen and get crystal clear water without the water exchange

I was kinda shocked when you said those 3 albinos or cream colored Ray's been living in that basket all their lives. I love your channel and I know how much more you love your job and rays... but even if I have no knowledge in Rays , I do have knowledge in nature and unless.you are a turtle.or snails clams etc..any animal who.lives 2407 in their house would.want.to be captive into such a small area when in their nature is to be in the ocean. I am also aware that if they are born in tanks and then moving to the ocean doesn't work out well for the animal even though by nature it's his habitat.but in a confided space.like that? Why are they not in their own spacious tank? Dont get me wrong I do appreciate what you are doing for them...that when I saw the babies being born and the one that died while the mom giving birth I saw how sad it made you. It made me balk my eyes out..while my husband laughed at how silly i looked. But i felt the pain. I see how you are with the pups...but please for the sake of those 3 Rays me crying other ppl getting upset and your channel or what else more..can you place them in a tank or at least let us know why that procedure is happening and if it's ok to be like that w no repercussions. If you read this I thank you for you time & response.
